Hi everyone,

We are all so sad...
It was magical!!!!

I would be more than happy to answer anybody's questions if we could.
We have an 8 year old and a two year old.

For those of you sailing soon...DO NOT MISS DARREN ROMANO (sp) it was the most absolutely best show I've seen on a cruise!

Do you know how long Darren will be on the Magic?? We've been checking out his website. One of his friends told us all he's on board, but she didn't know how long he'd be there.

The rumour going on around the ship...
He's supposed to be there for three months...

He's not to be missed...

well, that's good, so there's a good chance he'll still be there in January when we go.
thanks for getting back to us so quickly.

The show was fantastic...a mix of magic, broadway, comedy..
a bit of everything a la las vegas!

We loved the cove Cafe on deck 9. It's a must. Tell Miguel and Carolina that Tony and his brothers from Ottawa say "hello'. They were just the best!

The food was okay.... We loved Palos and got in twice!....so if you like good food...Palos is worth the 5 bucks each! Run there on Saturday when you board, spaces fill up really fast.

My son loved the his club. I loved Flounders Reef for my toddler. They were absolutely amazing with him. Tracy did an outstanding job.

Well, I'll go unpack some more and will update again...

According to the Cruise Director, Jacqui, Golden Mickeys will be on the ship December 6.

How long of a stretch did your 2 year old tolerate being in Flounders.

What shore excursions did you do?

My two year old, a very clingy mommy's boy...
did not do well in Flounders at first. I got paged the first night because they have a policy that if your child cries for half an hour they page you (which I don't blame them). If however you tell them to let them cry...they do. I didn't do that. However, Tracy the flounders coordinator...helped us get our little boy used to flounders. It worked wonders...by the time Friday came along, he was playing. They even took him one on one to the Oceaneer Club. Tracy is amazing...after a tiny incident...I only dealt with her!

We did the dolphin encounter. That too was fantastic. We'd do it again.

Don't shoot the messenger - But I and my daughters did not enjoy the magic show - We were expecting a whole show of magic, there was too much singing and I thought he was kind of full of himself - THIS IS JUST MY OPINION - We left (my DD's wanted to leave) before it was over.

We did, however, enjoy all the other shows, Dreams, Castaway Cay Character show - this one did not work for us -

So what happened to you when you were chosen family of the week?
Which dolphin encounter did you do?
what kind of magic does darren do?
sorry for so many quesions, I usually am the one who usually answers them

What was your experience at the check-in? Were those passports really needed? Did they ask you any medical type questions? How easy/hard was the immigration when you arrived at St/ Thomas? Back at Port Canaveral?

Thanks for any help you can pass on!!

Penny

Darren does illusional magic mostly. He's more of an entertainer.
Our party thought he was amazing. Best entertainment we've seen on any cruise.

We did the dolphin encounter, which you don't swim with the dolphins, but you get to be in the water with them. It was nice and just right for our 4 year old nephews.

Family of the Week.
According to one of the bartenders, there are five families chosen on the ship to be family of the week. The family is chosen by someone of importance that you meet on the first day, while asking questions...if they think you are a 'nice' family...they sneak you a 'what stateroom are you in' and then add you in to be a family of the week.
We got petit fours, chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, fruit ect...delivered to our stateroom every day at around 4 pm. Which was nice. It was a nice treat.

The little incident at Flounders was really no big deal...but in retrospective if you have a nervous toddler...it was.
In flounders there is a two way mirror. Because my boy is a little clingy and has a difficult time during transitions, I always stayed and watched for a few minutes until I knew he would be fine. The mirror is situated right behind the desk. Tracy the flouners coordinator was sitting at her desk, this particular night. So one of the counselors was with my son. Of course he was crying and calling 'mommy'. It usually took him five minutes to settle in. Lindsay was with him. She abrubtly put him down and in a very loud voice said: "NO...WE ARE NOT GOING TO DO THIS TONIGHT....YOUR MOMMY IS GONE...AND NO CRYING"....
I was shocked...but at the same time thinking...well maybe I'm to sensitive and this is what he needs. So I turned to Tracy and said 'Is Lindsay having a bad night? Or are you guys to busy to care for all the children in here?" She looked and observed in the mirror as Linsday pointed her finger at him and said 'NO...CRYING!" She immediately got up... and went into the nursery and whispered something into Lindsay ear. Tracy took my son and calmed him down. I felt reassured and I left. I returned after dinner. I asked Tracy if there was a problem.

my message got cut off....
heheheheeh
as I was saying
I asked her if their was a problem with my son. She told me she just told Lindsay that my son needed to be reassured gently and that within five minutes he would be fine.

That was it...I made sure the rest of the time to give my son to another counselor and check back on him often.

That figures! I am on it the week before! I leave the magic December 6th! Oh well, I guess I will have to go again!

Thanks for the info.

Golden Mickeys is a new show to DCL. Apparently it is like an awards show, like the grammys or something. It has Disney characters and the whole bit. It is getting wonderful reviews!
