We just came back from our short Disney trip. We stayed in Sugar Loaf in GF for 2 nights and Poly concierge for 2 nights. We had stayed in Poly concierge this April for 7 nights and really liked it but since this is around Christmas time, we wanted to stay in GF to soak up as much Christmas spirit as possible :) My opinion of Sugar Loaf is average. Service is really bad and concierge staff had never once say hello other than during check-in. I was contacted one week before our arrival by concierge staff and during the conversation I mentioned that I can't get Cinderalla's breakfast PS. They were very nice and say they will try to see what they can do. I was also asked whether we are celebrating any special occasion which is, my birthday on the second day we staying in GF. The concierge told me that I should expect a surprise. The day we checked in, I asked whether they could get the Cinderella's reservation, blank look. My birthday come and go and nothing from concierge. I wouldn't have expected anything but they seem all promise and no action! After we checked in to Poly, my husband mentioned to the concierge about my birthday "disappointment", that night, Poly concierge sends me a birthday cake, the hats, balloons, the whole work! The worst is the first night we were in GF, the turn down service knocks on the door and I told her that we just got in and didn't want any turn down service. She stood there and told me that this is her last day and she is not coming back and then just stand there I think waiting for me to tip her! What was that? The lounge was right in the building entrance and the seating was limited. The breakfast is the typical stuff but Poly has a little more variety. Afternoon tea has cookies, brownies and the same scones as served in GF high tea service but no Devonshire cream :( The evening offer was very nice. First night, there were marinated mussels with salsa topping, Chinese chicken salad, cheese and crackers and grill vegetables. The second night there were tomato with mazzarella with basil and pesto, prosciutto and melon, cheese platter etc... The only thing I like about Sugar Loaf is the evening offering. From now on, I am sticking with Poly concierge. I didn't meet Lou but every concierge staff that was there was friendly and I get Aloha everytimes I step into the building!

There seems to be a lot of dissapointment with GF concierge. I am staying at the GF on our next trip but I am just booking a standard room. I personally picked this resort for its decor and style, so hopefully I wont notice that the standards is not as good as it should be.

Hi!
Do you mind telling me the food offerings in concierge?? We will be staying for the first time in two weeks!!
What view did you have?? (Room number??) Thanks so much for your report!!
Tnk!!:)

sorry to hear you didnt have a good experience w/the sugar loaf cm's!
but I am glad to hear that the Poly cm's were nice :)

Laura :)

I assume you are asking about sugar loaf? There are so many thread s on Poly and then there is tikkiman's web page which has all the info you need. For sugar loaf, we asked for the dormer room which is slightly smaller but has vaulted ceiling and a smaller but private balcony. We faced the marina and we can actually see good part of the fantasy in the sky fireworks from our balcony. The food offering,
All the drinks have to be poured into cups, no bottle water, box juice or milk or can soda. On the table are water, Perrier, coffee, variety of tea bags, coco, lemonade, ice tea. Milk, juice, soda have to be asked.

breakfast: four types of cereals in four big containers rather than individual pack as in Poly. Bagels, breads but only one toaster :( sweet rolls, mini muffins, cut fruits, whole banana.

lunch: Wasn't there

Afternoon tea: Scones, same as the type served in GF high tea, with jam but no Devonshire cream, Brownie, cookies, chocolate covered crackers, cup cakes.

Evening Offer: Pretty much what I described in my post. I think there is also herbed goat cheese spread on crackers, cup cakes for the kids.

The food gets clean up around 7pm. No dessert offering in Sugar Loaf.

Hope this help.

Thanks for your reviews.

Regarding the Sugar Loaf:

Did they have any soda available if asked for it?

What food offerings were there for kids in the evening?

Thanks,

Teresa

We didn't ask for soda but I believe I saw someone asked for them. There were no special kiddie food in the evening other than cup cakes. The only thing my daughter would eat out of the table at night were crackers and cupcakes! ( Poly had uncrustable PB&J sandwiches, turkey and cheese sandwiches for kids.)

Thanks for the quick response.

We stayed at the Poly Concierge last summer and we were very happy with their food selection for children. It's unfortunate (from everything I've read about GF concierge) that the GF doesn't cater to children in the same way.

Teresa

Welcome home and thanks for the review. :)

Sorry to hear the GF Concierge didn't seem up to par with the Polynesian. Glad to see you got a nice birthday surprise after all though! :)
