Just back from MNSSHP-a little different this year

Don't think this was the kid's fault. I think they are either poorly made, or overly stuffed with popcorn such that it messes up the bucket. Had the same problem with mine after I ate the popcorn.

Agreed. After very light use, our poor bucket is falling apart as well.

Thanks for the feedback - I've been on the fence about going again this year so it's good food for thought.

I bought one of those popcorn containers last year at a cart in AK (they knocked off a little bit for getting it empty) and noticed right away that the sides didn't click together right. I went back to the CM and asked to switch it out for a different one and she refused to let me - said they were all like that (I could see them lined up in the back and some were together more than the one I got). :sad2:

I bought the popcorn container last year at the party and had the same problem, also the same problem with a CM about exchanging it. She said they were all like that, but then an older couple came up to complain about their bucket so she just exchanged them both. She was not friendly about it. :confused3 Later on during the parade, the people that wedged into my 20 inch spot stole my bucket (which still had gaping sides). My DD got teary eyed and a CM came up to her and gave us a new one, even filled with popcorn. The bad thing? It STILL didn't make it home whole. When I unloaded the car, one of Mickey's ears had been broken off! :scared1: Good grief...I guess it isn't mean for me to have one of those in good condition. Oh well, I still stuck a little flameless candle in it and he's still cute. :thumbsup2

I was there Friday night as well and the park felt more crowded than it had all week. The lines for rides were short but everything else made up for it. We got to the park at 5 for dinner and hit the park around 6. We did one set of pictures infront of the castle, met Capn jack, rode POTC, BTMMR, and HM, saw the villians show twice and the parade and tracked down Gaston inbetween shows and the night was gone. They had tons of characters out but that park is DARK when you throw characters into non traditional spots it made it like an easter egg hunt in the dark-people where EVERYWHERE. This is our 5th party and it definately felt much more congested. If they would actually make the map more discriptive to hunt down the characters it would have helped.

We wanted to see Rapunzel and Flynn and figured she would be in her regular spot. Nope. Aurora and Prince Philip were there. :guilty: Then after the party we found out they were at the Princess spot at Town Hall. I would have stopped there had I known that. We skipped it because we had seen princesses in the morning at the Princess breakfast. So, ITA about a character map.

As part of the new monorails hours, the monorail closes at 10:30 on party nights. Guests of the Poly and GF can take the ferry or a bus back to their resorts. No one is very happy about this.

This will be our first time there, so please forgive my ignorance as well. Is the ferry to get to the Poly the same awful, crowded one that some pps mentioned? If so, are we better off taking the bus back to the Poly? How long does it take? So disappointed to hear about the monorail!!

Thanks!

They are selling these adorable popcorn holders this year, Mickey shaped and he is dressed as a ghost. I bought 2 (at $12.00 each ) for my kids. Once they ate some of the popcorn, they noticed that the sides were pulling apart and the lids would not stay on securely (they were carrying them by the handles out of the park). They are not dishwasher safe (like the other, cheaper popcorn tubs) and I can't really wash them well since they don't hold water (the sides are coming apart). Actually there is a big "Made in China sticker on each one. They are ADORABLE, but I would advise you to save your $ and just get the regular Halloween tubs.

Thanks for the updates. As for the popcorn holders, it sounds like the same one we bought last year and they are crap. Why they did not fix them from last year I do not understand. Thanks again for the review.

And they increased the price of them. :sad2:

The popcorn buckets are the WORST EVER.

In addition to the poor side fit (I can sort of live with that), poor lid fit (mine fell off a few times and I was lucky to notice and pick it up), mine is now missing an ear. Well, not missing but now taped on. I dropped the lid ONLY from countertop height, and one ear broke off at the insertion point. That's absurd - no way that fall should have broken anything plastic.

They now have a treat trail set up by Splash Mountain, but it was so crowded. The exit was also the exit to Splash, creating a crazy mass of people exiting at the same time (and people entering through the exit-it was a little confusing as to which was the ride entrance and which was the treat entrance as they were side by side).

Leaving the park at 11:15 or so was just scary. The huge mass of humanity all pushing to the ferry boats was dangerous...strollers running over feet, crazy. In hindsight, we should have stayed in the park a bit longer (after the 2nd parade there was a mass exit) but my kids were wiped out. We went upstairs on the ferry (to TTC) but very few people would (they knew they would get off last) so it was packed downstairs. We got off last, but honestly I was happy to wait and not get trampled. No monorails=CRAZY![/QUOTE]

The Splash Mountain area was insane.

We were at the same party, I think (Fri 9/16). Regarding the ferry, we arrived prob. 12:15 to 12:30, and it was still somewhat of a mob scene but winding up. We just hung back and let the crowd wear itself out. I thought we were the last ones, since there weren't any others after us when we were waiting, but sure enough there might have been another 50 or so that showed up once we were on the ferry.

I wasn't sure if there was a bus to the Polynesian - I should have guessed there was one and that would have been the best route. Anyone going later this year should try that.

Where did you find Gaston?? I would love to have my pic taken with him!!:yay:

One of my ears came off last night as well :(

We were at Fridays party, and it was running at stop 18, we were in line for pop at 17 a bus pulled up and it said TTC

Hm...looks like another case of a CM providing incorrect information.

What I thought strange was the monorail was still making it's rounds and stopping at MK but no riders were allowed on.

By the way, we went on the 13th and had a great time...walk on rides, tons of candy, great parades & halloween Wishes. The only crowds we really experienced were around main street, hub and water taxi back to Poly.

MK closes at 7. The party itself is from 7 to midnight.
OK...Opening up the "proverbial can-o-worms" here...
What's up with the "get-in-to-the party-at 4:00" rumors? (with MNSSHP tix only)-Disney's phone folks TOTALLY deny that this is allowed. :rolleyes1

4pm entry has already been confirmed by many party goers already this year, including myself. They will even tell you this if you pick up a ticket at will call or customer service outside of the park.
