Just back from MNSSHP-a little different this year

OK...Opening up the "proverbial can-o-worms" here...
What's up with the "get-in-to-the party-at 4:00" rumors? (with MNSSHP tix only)-Disney's phone folks TOTALLY deny that this is allowed. :rolleyes1

You can get in at 4pm with the party tickets as usual. CMs with wrist bands are there just past the turnstiles.

Are quality buckets even there? :confused3

I saw a smaller version of the ghost mickey bucket that had a light in it that seemed like it may have been better quality. Also, I think the orange mickey halloween buckets look decent. May just be, as a PP said, that they make it so it can be "easily" taken apart, which makes it a little more prone to flaws...

Thanks NN...
That's great to hear! I have very limited park tickets on this trip, so we're gonna do the Disney Quest gig, (have old leftover tix), on Sunday morning/lunch, then take the boat bus-bus-train...whatever we can get...to the Kingdom for the MNSSHP.
I know the party is gonna be PACKED, but it was the only date that worked for this "last minute" trip. :woohoo:
Kinda a "teaser" for Christmas trip, but took advantage of some airfare price cuts/credits/vouchers! :cool1:

*sigh* After hearing gazillions of RAVE comments about how fab this party is I decided to spring for the tickets this year (ouch). Now I'm worried that we're going to hate it.

Somebody please tell me that the party is never truly "bad," but is only sometimes slightly less wonderful. Pretty please?

Definitely agree that the party is never truly bad. Just for folks that have been numerious times before, you begin to pick things out that you dislike or wish they would change. I am sure you will have a GREAT time. :thumbsup2

You will still LOVE the party. I go every year, and in costume (I'll try to add a picture of that later in some relevant place) - you get out of the party what you put into it. For some reason, even though the crowds might be large that night, the rides don't seem to be crowded (I guess candy is the draw - how desperately do you need it??). We walked onto all the mountains, and HM had a 20 minute wait.

As many have noted, things could be a WHOLE lot worse than they are. I actually think we got slightly more candy this year.

I was also at the Friday (9/16) MNSSHP. Overall I had a good time, but I did notice that some things were different. For one, the Villains Dance Show has new choreography and is hosted by Dr. Facilier instead of Malificent. The new choreography and dancers' costumes are not nearly as risque as in years past, which I think is a good thing. The number and quality of the decorations in the park seems to decrease each year. I first started attending MNSSHP in 2006 and the decorations were far more substantial that year and in 2007. On the plus side, the candy was higher quality than in years past.

Getting back to the resort is always a challenge. This trip we were staying at AKL and it took about 45 minutes for us to get on a bus and return to the resort.

I attend MNSSHP primarily because of the parade, fireworks, and the fact that nearly every ride is a walk-on. I was not disappointed and will attend future party's at the MK.

We weren't sure either about 4:00, and as it turned out we didn't get to Orlando by 4:00 and this was moot - but we arrived sometime around 6:00 and got in. They set up Main Street to be one side coming in for the party and the other side for day guests leaving the park.

As I understand it, no party events will start until 7PM - or, to the point, no candy. The rides are open, and you can have dinner (which is what we did).

And there is another reason to arrive early if you have an Annual Pass. Even though there usually isn't free parking with the Annual Pass for the hard ticket events, they did let us park free this time and I assume that is because the park was still open until 7 PM for day guests and we arrived about 6PM. And the parking CM knew we were going to the party (we said so and I was in costume so it was pretty obvious). The parking CM also gave us a small pile of candy.

Don't worry! You'll love it - it's awesome, it's fun, it's Disney like you've never experienced it. I read all about it before I went the first time and was so excited. Then the actual reviews from that year started coming in and everyone was complaining about crowds, bad/less candy, etc. But you know what...I had nothing to compare it to, and I loved it...

Now don't get me wrong...I KNOW Disney is scaling things back, cutting corners, crowding more people in...so I'm not disagreeing with repeat partiers who notice the differences. Part of the reason for these boards is so we can note differences in our experiences, and I appreciate knowing what has changed, etc. I'd be annoyed (and I may well be when I return for my 2nd party next month) if I'd experienced something I liked last time and it wasn't available this time, or my merch fell apart, and I too am REALLY annoyed about the monorail situation...but overall it's a great, fun experience for the majority of people.

For all of those that have asked...He is on the outer ring of the hub where the walkway to Adventureland begins, kinda off to to the side along the railing. He did sign autographs, and did have his own PP photog. with him. But he is easy to walk right past due to the randomness of his location and the crowds.

4pm entry has already been confirmed by many party goers already this year, including myself. They will even tell you this if you pick up a ticket at will call or customer service outside of the park.
AWESOME!...So STOKED!
Our Autistic son is gonna go bonkers! Different parades, characters, etc. Plus mild weather!-(he can't function outside in extreme temps.:sad1:)...
My significant other wants to surprise the kids with this trip, the
"whole-get-in-the-car-and-drive-straight-to-the-airport" kind of surprise... but I'm afraid I won't be able to keep the secret.
I even looked at COSTUMES at the store yesterday...:scared1:

Have AS-Movies booked, but do y'all think transportation home might be be "better" from a mod...i.e. CBR or POR late after the party ends?
Wanted to keep it cheap, but catch a different resort than the Christmas trip (POR again)....TIA for all the great help!

I totally agree with your assessment. While we had attended several MVMCP events in the past, this was our first (and second) MNSSHP. Everyone in my family thought the party was great. Moderate crowd levels, trick or treating, lots of characters available for M&G, good stage show, great parade/fireworks, and easy access to rides! :thumbsup2

But isn't he roughly the size of a barge?

Self-deducting 3 man-points now.

We were at the party 9/16 and had a GREAT time!!

My review-

The candy line by Splash Mountain was there last year when we went.

Yes, it was their last yr we did not get any crowds becasue we hit it just as the park was about to close. The price of the Mickey popcorn thing did go up, I think I payed $8. last yr not $12.

Remember when we would get free pictures with our MNSSHHP?
Times have changed.
