Just back from MNSSHP-a little different this year

We went last year, this same week - and we were there on Friday. It was SO much more crowded than last year - the lines to trick or treat were very long, it was bad.

We went to the second parade and aside from the profanity spewing, quarreling couple next us, it was good.

The mass exit was AWFUL. I am seriously predicting a dock collapse from all the weight during a post MNSSHP ferry wait.

Just to say there was a great tip on the Touring Plans blog about viewing Hallowishes (or any fireworks at MK) -

Watch them from the TTC. The view is perfect and you don't need a ticket for the party obviously. Here is a pic he posted of the regular fireworks from that spot:

SHHHHH .... you're not supposed to tell people about our secret spot to watch the fireworks. LOL! Honestly, this spot is exactly the reason we won't be purchasing a ticket to go to MVMCP this year.

Visually it's beautiful, but no audio makes it not as great for me. :confused3

Yes, it was their last yr we did not get any crowds becasue we hit it just as the park was about to close. The price of the Mickey popcorn thing did go up, I think I payed $8. last yr not $12.

Remember when we would get free pictures with our MNSSHHP?
Times have changed.

I just found my ticket from 2007. The party cost $38.95.

It's crazy how much the price has gone up since then! I'm going to the party next week but may not be able to justify the separate event ticket in future trips.

One more question on the popcorn bucket.....I have seen the Mickey ghost one, saw a picture that even had the regular bucket with what seemed like a halloween picture on it, but what is the mickey orange bucket one like? Is it just like a pumkin shape? I was planning on buying the ghost - but am :scared1: at the $12 price tag!

Wow..you had a totally diffrent experience than we did on 9/13. Ride lines were short ,ALL candy lines were less than 5 minutes wait and we walked right up and got front row seats for the parade last minute. We also didn't find leaving MK to be horrible..crowds were moderate. I noticed the TTC ferry line was VERY long so I got on a resort ferry and walked into the lobby and right into a cab .

But yes, there is audio, at least every time we have stood in this secret spot. SHHHH .... remember it is still a SECRET!

There is also audio piped in when viewing from the Comtemporary, Grand Floridian and Polynesian resorts. The only place we have found that there isn't music piped in is at "the point" at the Polynesian.

Does the headless horseman ride at both parades or just the first this year? I keep getting conflicting reports and really want to find out before we go next month thanks!!

Both, saw him at the 2nd parade on the 16th.

Thank you - think I will wait to get to the park and see them in person....really liked the ghost one :confused3

I think that's a good plan, although I know some folks may freak out that things may be sold out. My thought is if it's sold out, then I wasn't supposed to spend my money on it, lol.

They also have some very cute reusable bags that you may like and may get more use out of (depending on what you are going to use it for).

Walgreens had Mickey pumpkin trick or treat buckets very similar to the one in the picture. The only difference is that Walgreens' does not have a clear one. You can't see through theirs. However, I am betting on theirs not costing over $10- YIKES!!

*sigh* After hearing gazillions of RAVE comments about how fab this party is I decided to spring for the tickets this year (ouch). Now I'm worried that we're going to hate it.

Somebody please tell me that the party is never truly "bad," but is only sometimes slightly less wonderful. Pretty please?

My parents took my two boys on Fri 9/16 and I heard NOTHING negative from them. This was their first MNSSHP ever. All four of them had a ball! Don't be worried. Just enjoy it!

Now THAT's what I wanna "hear"!!!
Trying to keep the secret...I know I'm setting myself up for "Epic MNSSHP Fail". :cool2:

What time do people suggest we leave the party if we have to take the ferry to TTC? I just don't want my DD to get trampled on and I really do hate pushy crowds? Thanks

Yesterday was my first MNSSHP, and will certainly be my last. All the rides broke down (I almost missed the fireworks because Haunted Mansion was down for a while!), Super long lines for candy (got 42 pieces, not bad), and sick kids galore! I might have gotten a cold from the event! IMO, skip the event and go during the day. Oh, and while waiting for Space Ranger Spin, there was a kid dressed as a banana, and a CM came by and started yelling 'ITS PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME! PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!"      :banana:Good times! Good times...

I left around 11:40 and had to wait maybe 30-40 minutes to get on the ferry.
