Hi All! :)

I am back from a *FANTASTIC* stay at AKLV! If anyone has any specific questions, I'd be happy to respond! :)

Gald to hear you had a wonderful stay.

How is construction at Kidani coming along?

Kidani's construction appears to be way ahead of schedule. I took a few pics and hope to post them soon for everyone to see. I was actually quite a bit surprised to see how close the Village is to Jambo House. I pictured it being much farther away.

Are all the Villa's in one section, i.e., in a row on just one floor. Or are some on Sunset savanna and some on Uzima on the other side of the resort? Just curious as to where they are at. Is the entire 5th floor all DVC units now or are there still regular rooms available? We stayed on the Sunset savanna in 06 and just loved our view, I'm afraid to be put there now for fear the site of the construction will take away that AK magic.:confused3 Did you experience that at all? Thanks! I can't wait...the countdown is on!:thumbsup2 :wizard:

I'll take a crack:

The ENTIRE 5th floor (with the possible exception of a handful of rooms at the end of one of the "short" trails...Ostrich, I think...I can't remember if DVC ultimately took them or not..they'd be "standard view" in any case) has been converted over to DVC villa's. They encompass all types of views...pool, each savanna, and even some parking lot.

While there IS no construction actually IN the lodge....as you mentioned, there is some going on across the sunset savanna. Some have mentioned that it doesn't bother them at all, since the animals are still around. Some have mentioned that it really interferes with their "suspension of disbelief", and they really don't like it. I think it's going to come down to preference, in the end.

We have a 1 bed savanah view reserved for Aug - we're really looking forward to trying AKV :)

We have a studio standard view reserved for Nov 1-4. We have never been to the AKL before. We are very excited. I am taking my adult daughters down for a girls only trip. How are the resort restaurants?

So glad to hear you had a great stay. Were you in Jambo? That's where we are staying in November and I'd love to hear anything about it. We're really excited about seeing animals from the room and just being in a deluxe. We've always stayed at the values before.

Were you booked in a value, standard, savannah..., and were the size of the rooms to your liking? Also, what was your view?

Animal Kingdom has great restaurants. We really love Boma. Their Counter service selections are good too. Just make sure to make dining reservations there because they get full really quickly.

All DVC villas are on the fifth and sixth floor. The latter also houses the concierge rooms, etc.

Construction is already completed in Jambo House (the main building right now) and that is where all guests are staying until Kidani opens.

Construction noise was minimum. We heard it all of one time.

The restaurants, as usual, were fantastic. Mara has fewer selections and offerings than, let's say Pop or the moderate resorts' food courts, but that is because there's also two restaurants. In any event, your needs are well met here. I honestly cannot imagine staying anywhere else now! I loved it at AKLV! :D

Were you in a studio or 1 bedroom? Am interested in knowing what was furnished in the kitchen if you stayed in 1 bedroom.

That would be great if you could post those. I am also intrigued to hear the village is close to Jambo. On the renderings it appears so far away. I was actually thinking about that because we want to stay in Kidani in 09' and I was thinking what a trerk it might be to Jambo and Mara but that is good to hear!

I can't wait to see your pics and hear more about Kidani. We were wondering how things were progressing down there with construction. :thumbsup2

Sorry for the wait all. I honestly thought I had more pics of Kidani than this. We are checking the other camera tomorrow and I'll post if there's a few more.

I'd love to see your pictures *NikkiBell* but it says "forbidden" when I click on the link. You may have to change your account to allow public access?

Thanks though, can't wait to see the Kidani pics :)

Having just arrived back from AKLV I have to disagree with above

There is definately work still ongoing on the outside of Jambo house I had two 'telehandlers' outside my savanna view window and could see them working on balconies to my left during the day.
Construction noise depends on room where you are staying and although there is a note in rooms stating work occurs between 9am-5pm, I could hear the reversing beeps from trucks whilst lying in bed at 7am ( rather than the animal noises I had hoped for) despite my window being closed.
Overall I was extremely upset at the amount of impact the work had on my 'premium' room although when finished the resort will be fantastic

FYI I was room 5205 sunset savanna
