We were at AKL Jul 17-22 and BC 22-27. We had pool view at AKL and standard at BC. We were orginally asked to move but declined. We were on the 4th floor of AKL. The only construction noise we heard was on 2 days when we returned to our room about 2-230 pm. Heard some hammering and sawing above us. Animals were all out and about as usual. Boma's was busy the night we ate there. Cindy

Welcome back! Were you able to see any of the building that will be the new DVC?

I'm curious to know how your standard room at BC was. Any problems or was it fabulous?

Melissa

Our standard room was very nice! Was close to elevators so not much of a walk to gift store/lobby/ etc. Our view was over the front of the resort where guests drive in. We were on the 4th floor with a very small balcony-just big enough for 2 to stand on. The gift store now has a small deli type food area and expanded grocery section-probably due to the villas.

How was the noise being close to the elevators? We have std booked for Aug and I would like to request being close to the lobby/etc., but I worry that then I'll have to deal with noise from the elevator.:confused3

Going to AKl inNovember....How were the restaurants and pool?
Did you use any of the children's activities?
Have heard stories that there can be alot of walking and want to avoid that as much as possible, what area would you recommend to request to stay in? , ........TIA.

Welcome back! We are checking in to BC on Aug 13th. Can you tell me what time SAB closed? We were hoping to be able to swim at night, but some posts have mentioned that the pool closes early.
Thanks...

Our room at AKL wasn't by the elevators-that was at BC. AKL rooms seem to be VERY well insulated so I wouldn't worry. The restaurants at AKL that we tried are Boma-we enjoy it very much-fun to try new dishes-very tasty. We didn't try Jiko. Mara is nice-sort of mini food court with some grocery items-things were labeled for people on dining plan this trip-like counts as snack, etc. Not alot to choose from but we like it. Our DS is 15 so we didn't use any children's activities. We did see staff members with things they were doing with kids at both resorts-like pool bingo at BC and animal skeletons, etc at AKL. I am sorry but I don't know when big pool closes at BC-I think the quiet pools are open 24 hours though. At AKL if you want to avoid extra walking from room I have found pool view to be quite good-can't be far out for that view. The resort is not spread out like some though and everything is in one building so no running through rain, etc. Hope this helps! Cindy

One more thing-as usual for us bus service was excellent at AKL! So nice not having to share with any other resort! Cindy

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear...my std room is at BC. We are a ressie that was moved...I have been to AKL but not BC, and that's why I am clueless about the resort and was wondering about the elevator noise. Thanks.

Our BC standard room was very near the elevators and wasn't a problem. We did hear the ice machine being used sometimes-it was directly across from our door. Sometimes we could hear people talk if they were pretty loud but really didn't bother us. The beds are away from the door-entry, bath/dressing area between. I am sure you will really like your stay. It was really nice to be close to store/lobby/front door etc. We have had rooms a long way from them before. Really beautiful resort. Have fun! Cindy
