Did you use the 495 loop around DC? East or West?

We're heading down this weekend form Philly and wondering if it makes much difference, or to avoid it all-together and use 301?

We are heading down this weekend as well...we are in south Jersey, right outside of Philly. We are not doing 301 as we feel that on a weekend and early morning, we should be fine. Now, coming home, it will be midweek and we may use 301
