We just got back from a fall break trip ck in on Sat ck out on Fri. @SSR. This was our first visit. We are BWV fans even though we own @WVL & SSR. Booked this trip late so couldn't get BWV. We enjoyed the place but it was different. I SHOULD have done some more research as to which requests to make but we did enjoy where we stayed "the springs". If we go again, & esp when not doing parks, I wouldn't mind being in some of the outlying areas but it really is spread out more than I thought. I definitley would make requests when booking in the future.

The area with the shooting waters was fun for the kids & although a bit of a walk, was worth it. Would like to have walked to DTD more but only did that once as it was hot & a little far from our room.

Do your research!

We got back from our first trip to SSR and absolutely loved it!!! We were away at The Carousel but didn't mind, since we had a car... SSR is the type of resort we love because we don't do the parks and come for some down time near the pool and to be utterly relaxed.

We will stay here again and again!

Also, just back from first stay at SSR. We absolutely loved it. No complaints at all. Everyone was so helpful since it was our first visit. We had not made a lot of ADR's, actually only one character breakfast and one TS dinner. Concierge desk was able to make ressie's for us. We had the most wonderful dinner at Jiko AKL. Great character breakfast at Ohana's (made by concierge).

We stayed at the Springs and this was so convenient for buses and boats, pool, Artist Pallett and Turf Bar and Grill, Desk and ME. We have no complaints at all.

After going to AKL for dinner, we plan to stay there next time, just to check it out, but have no problem going back to SSR at all.

We did our first SSR trip last week and we loved it also. I love it when that happens! Choice is good!!

So here is the DVC (WDW) evaluation (no resort names please, must protect the innocent!)

Now, that's not fair! You have to tell us which is which....no one's going to mind, after all, you're entitled to your opinion!:)

Nope. I have seen way too many resort wars over the years!:lmao:

But I will say, my beloved Wilderness Lodge is the other (besides Mr. Muushka) love of my life :thumbsup2 .

Congress park is the only place to stay in my opinion! We loved our view!!!
We were directly across the Fulton Crab House. You may want to try it next time.

Which? Congress Park or Fulton Crab House? Loved Fulton Crab House also. I have never seen my DGC eat so much as they did there, lol.

I find it so odd how so often people feel the need to defend SSR. I know when it first opened there were alot of people who didn't like the resort-too big-too many new owners-blah blah blah.

Honestly, I love ALL of the DVC resorts including Vero and HHI. I never find myself saying-"We are at ..resort, I wish we were at ..." Each resort for me is a different but great experience. that is why we always want to come back-always something new and different. It is great to have the choices.

Most recent trip to WDW was this past August. We stayed at POR-for free dining. On my last day I stopped by SSR for lunch. I had stayed there w/ a few friends last year and really enjoyed it. My mom had not yet seen the newest DVC resort. It was in that short visit just for lunch that I really came to appreciate SSR and DVC in general. There is just something a little special in a DVC resort. It is more relaxed. less hectic-more like home. I didn't feel like I had to get to anything, buy anything or do anything, even though I could do all of the above. At the non DVC resorts I feel very unsettled and a little frenetic. Can't explain it-it is just the atmosphere.

Although I tend to love VWL (quiet side) and often stay at OKW-first resort, lower pts, I love them all and I can't wait to go to the next ones-AKV and CRV!!:grouphug:

I guess it's not so much I didn't want to like it as I DIDN"T think I would like it (as much as BWV).....I agree w/the last poster....we have been to HHI/WVL/BC/BWV/SSR (still no OKW) & they each offer something different & GOOD. I would like to try Congress Park but I'm sure some folks like the calming atmosphere away from everything. It is a VERY big resort which, after just going over when they were building it, I did not realize & could see why some folks would be choosey over the location (esp. if didn't have a car).

Guess we'll learn it's nice to be a DVCer wherever you stay!

Sorry! I was saying our view at CP was overlooking FCH. It was wonderful! You can go out on your balcony and listen to all the Disney music coupled with the flood lights that drifted throughout DTD, is was so relaxing!!!! I would not of liked being way out in the other areas either. My DH said he definately would of been unhappy anywhere else! Everyone has a different opinion and preference! That is just ours.
