Although this is somewhat off-topic and I apologize in advance for that, I did want to write a note of thanks to everyone. As some of you may know, while I was at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City I received a phone call from Trina. She said that an extra amount of money had been deposited into our account. After a few quick calculations I determined it was equal to an amount Motorola usually gives for severance. It seems I had been laid off from my job. For the past three months I have been out of work and under a fair amount of stress. At this same time, we received word that Trina's father was not adjusting to his new chemo-therapy and if he took another treatment, it would most likely kill him. Being 1,000 miles away from her family and no way to send her to Idaho has taken its toll on her and consequently on our family. As all of this was unfolding, I received a call from my mother telling me that my only grandfather had suffered a series of strokes which have left him near death. She pleaded with me to come to see him since I was the only person he was asking for.
With all that has been going on in my life, I am afraid I have neglected many of you and have not been around much on the boards. Through this though, you have all helped in ways you cannot imagine. Raul, Donna, Lauri and Kathi have boosted my spirits with pins and e-mail messages which seemed to arrive at just the right moment. When my outlook seemed dimmest, someone would invariably send me a note or make a comment that would remind me of all that I have been given. Perhaps the one thing that meant the most to me was a package I received from Lauri. Inside was a copy of the map from the Animal Kingdom pin event. The map pins were wonderful and reminded me of a time that seems so long ago when we shared a laugh and traded a pin last August. I could never forget the fun we had at the Great Pin Adventure or at the Where in the World is Arizona Jeff and Mean Laureen games. Seeing JamesD and his lovely wife chasing us down to receive their stickers will be etched in my mind forever and who could forget Figgy nearly getting us all killed with her antics on the Jungle Cruise. On the back of the Animal Kingdom map, Lauri had many of you who attended the event to write a note. I sat and read those well wishes and comments and it did more to brighten my day than you can imagine. I wanted to publicly thank each and every one of you for all your thoughts and kindness. This is the reason I trade pins. Not for the colorful pieces of metal but for the love that each of you shows with each trade you make. This message is not a plea for sympathy but rather a letter of gratitude. To often we get busy in our daily lives dealing with crisis after crisis but I didn't want another moment to go by without thanking each of you for all that you do not only for me but for everyone who happens to wander into this little community. Your actions truly do make a difference.

Jeff

Good to hear from you again, Jeff. We miss you! Hope things look up soon.

I have to agree so much with you...it is not about the pins....it is all about the people!
Huge Pooh hugs to you and your family!

So, when do you start writing humor for a living? You are good at writing! Hello to you, Trina & the children! Beauregard says those pins are only a little piece of painted metal :). Thoughts & prayers ...

to hear from you again, Jeff, and I hope things have gotten a little better, although it is a very difficult time for you...

Jeff and Trina I know we will never forget you. You are two wonderful people. You made this board a lot of fun. God Bless you for that.
You made people feel special and God Bless you for that too.

Believe me when I say I will be praying for you family every day. Losing a job and having a love one sick at the same time is just too much to imagine. But I have been there and keep your chin up high and hopefully God will answer my prayers. Shirley38 and Old John59

and who cares about this off topic stuff...One of the things that attracted me to this board, it that it seemed like a family, who just happened to be Disney collectors...another thing was your adventures....one read and I was hooked..I loved them..

I know that this is just a temporary glitch in your life..and I will add Trina's father, and your grandfather along w/ you and your family to my prayer list ... it is just awful when it pours...

Hang in there...

Donna

(((((( Jeff ))))))) You know I always have been and always will be there for you - you are an awesome person who deserves the best in life. I couldn't have asked for a better friend. So it looks like you are stuck with me whether you like it or not, so tough :) Love ya!

Jeff,
I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. It's so hard to deal with so many different pieces of your life at once, and you will be in my thoughts.

I wasn't here during your time but I have come to realize that the people here are like family. I post on other boards, but rarely mention anything personal because I just don't feel the community spirit that I feel here. It's a wonderful place to turn for support, and though I haven't met many of the posters, I feel like I have!

I hope things improve for you, and if there's anything I can do please let me know.

Hey Jeff,
I am sorry to hear about your family. You and your family will be in my prays.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, Jeff. Your posts during the Olympics were just great and I loved hearing about what you did. This place has some great people, and they truly care. I hope that what seems impossible now isn't insurmountable. You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ashley

Hope things start going your way! Sounds like it has been a pretty rough time! Sending our thoughts and prayers that things turn around for you!

Hey Jeff,

It is so good to hear from you, and you know that all of our thoughts and good wishes are with you.

Dear Jeff,
I had no idea when I signed the back of the map the kinds of challenges you were going through. I am so glad to know so I can pray for you. I am going thru alot with my parents right now, so it is good to be able to share love concerns and prayers for someone else who is hurting as well. I am hanging on to scripture right now and two in particular. The passage that says God promises a peace that passes alllllll understanding, and even better, the one where God promises He will not give more than He knows we can handle.

Please know that You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Blessings,
Winnie

We are sending along our prayers for the recovering health of your family members and in the knowledge that a great new job will be waiting for you. Our best to you and Trina. Caroline and Roger

Jeff...its so good to read from you...hope things work out for the best soon.

Hugs & prayers are coming your way!

Jeff:

All the best to you and yours as you overcome these obstacles. This, too, shall pass.

Hugs and Pixie Dust,

Jeff,
I got choked up when I read this. I only wish you and your family the best. I know you have faith and that will help you thru. I am sending a little something to you.

I was unemployed for 9 months in 1999 and I was the only one in the family working so I can feel for you.

You are special in my heart.

Karin

Hey Jeff,
I'm glad to have been able to help at least a little. You were there for us last year when Rick went through the lay off bit ......
I'm also glad you enjoyed the pins and 'the little something extra' I inadvertently sent ;)

Hugs to you all!
Kathi and Rick
