Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

Unfortunately that's not necessarily true, and I don't really follow your logic on that last point. Quality is down at all parks run by Disney at this point in time.

I don't really want to argue this with you, in fact I'd rather drop it.

I don't want to argue either, but I must say, when someone has more work to do, don't you think they would do they're absolute best, thus ending in better quality? But, then again, it can go in the opposite direction also.

The Carousel of Progress, it's a small world, the Dinosaurs in Primeval World on the DLRR, and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln are all from the 1964 World's Fair.

You'd hope so, but I feel like with so much work to do, most of the budgets are quickly slashed to bare minimum, resulting in subpar attractions. Honestly, though, that's not the fault of the imagineers, they work with what they're given.

The HM sprung from the ideas of Rolly Crump, The Museum of the Weird.

The Haunted Mansion Holiday in DL has a new REAL gingerbread house every year.

And man they are FREAKING COOL. The last one was a gingerbread coffin that opened up and a little skeleton/mummy gingerbread man would rise up.

The center wienie of TDS is a volcano, which "erupts" with a HUGE burst of flame every half-hour or so.

The rooms of the Contemporary and the original Polynesian buildings were actually made individually, poured as concrete shells offsite, and then stacked using a crane.. Problems developed when mold began forming between the concrete walls and a foul ordor emanated... This method of construction was then abandoned.

Madame Leota is currently composed of 3 different people.

Kim Irvine's eyes.

Leota Toombs' face

And her voice is by the same woman who voiced Maleficent and Lady Tremaine.

There's a petrified tree/stump in Disneyland that was given to Lilian Disney as a gift from Walt.

She... ahem... "regifted" it to Frontierland ;)

Not really a rapid fire fact, but I'd kill for a chance to go to Club 33.

Their telephone booth is the real one from The Happiest Millionaire Biddle household, modified to house a real phone.

And yeah, to see all the other historical n'stuff in there too :p

But mostly THM phone booth.

Okay so I said I'd explain Murphy and here's the deal.

DLR has been promoting it's "Summer Nightastic" shows, to promote attendance in the parks in the summer. These shows include the new fireworks show Magical!, the Pixie Hollow Light Show, The Disney Electrical Parade, and the pièce de résistance, a new, advanced Audio Animatronic dragon for Fantasmic! (nicknamed Murphy)

3 days before the Nightastic promo begins... Murphy's head falls off. Like, snaps off it's neck. Some blame this on the fact she was outsourced to Garner Holt as opposed to being created in-house, but I digress.

So people expect in a few weeks she'll be up and running. Wrong. The doors don't open during testing, and Murphy's reattached head gets smashed.

August 23rd marked the end of the Nightastic programs, and guess what? Murphy didn't make the deadline. Finally, testing has been going weell, and the media has been invited to a 5 AM preformance of Fantasmic! on Monday, in which Murphy will finally make her media premiere. Her public premiere will be Monday night.

This whole thing has been a nightmare for Disney overall, but pictures have been leaked of the elusive dragon, and she looks great! I can't wait until video surfaces of her in action!

UPDATE:

So guess what everyone? Murphy's not making her premiere today, in fact, the media invitational was canceled.

Apparently testing is still not completely satisfactory. However, Disney still sent some footage of the gorgeous animatronic and pictures to the OC Register:

Eh, there's nothing wrong with her right now supposedly, they're just working out programming kinks. She's still a little choppy, exemplified by the video.
