Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

So World of Color is getting lukewarm reviews, as I was starting to expect.
They cut a lot of story elements so it's just kinda a mashup of Disney's best hits, with no story.

Aww, that's a bit sad. I was expecting it to be great. Only way for me to form an opinion is to watch it. Any leaked videos yet?

I don't think so, last night was the special KOST party or whatever, but give it a couple of days and they'll spring up everywhere.

They got rid of little Squirt, the way-cool Alice in Wonderland paper animation, and yeah. Apparently, aside from a couple of neat effects, it's mostly just poor water screen (no more clear than Fantasmic!), and black transitions.

I was looking forward to the Alice in Wonderland scene... Why did Iger have to make it modern? Hopefully they might change it in the next few years or so. On the World of Color website, they still show the Alice in Wonderland concept pictures...

So, if you haven't read The Art of Disney by Christopher Finch...I recommend it.

It was first published in 1975, but he updated it in 1995. The last thing in it is about WDW and the last movie is about upcoming Mulan, Hercules, and another that I can't remember.
But besides that it has so much information. It's about 450 pages and filled with so many pictures. Things about the Hyperion studio, and it took me maybe a 2 days to read it. Best book about Walt Disney and the studio that I've ever read.

I'm about half-way through watching... and so far my favorite scene is A Whole New World... I was not so much a fan of the Define Dancing/ Wall-E scene as I thought I would be, though.

I'm watching the premier right now, it's pretty cool. I really liked the UP scene, I think they could've done a whole lot more with that.

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

I got up at 4.30am to watch the live stream of the premiere of world of color [because the UK is 8 hrs ahead] and so glad I did... it is amazing... I loved the POTC bit and the Princess section and espicailly all the Pixar characters :) I need to book a vacation to California ASAP I think :)
Well Done WDI :) :lovestruc :lovestruc :cheer2: :cheer2:

There was no chance of me staying up until 4:30, or no chance of me waking up at the same time... I watched it on YouTube, but the person hasn't uploaded the last part yet -_- Just watched the rest on the videos I posted yesterday. I think my favourite scene was the Pocahontas scene.

I actually really, really disliked the POTC scene... after everything being animation, then randomly Johnny Depp live action. The instrumental part and ships were alright, though.

I'm watching the live premier (...err.. taped premier) on youtube right now... it's already a lot better than the KOST preview party.

is there a lion king scene?

Yeah, it's kinda touching at the end.
It's Scar at first, then Wildebeest, then Mufasa falling.
It goes all black at the end and you just hear Simba going "Dad? Dad?"
And then it kinda honors parents or dead ones or something, and then it shows princesses... I think.

It's a bit fuzzy.

Check out USH's publicity stunt for their new King Kong attraction (part of the Studio Tour, I believe):

For World of Color, I wish they had a longer Sorcerer's Apprentice scene. Guess they figured they already have that in Fantasmic!, so they don't need it there.
