Tomar: So sweet of you to pay my $25 fee. What was that last minute deal you heard about? DD4 is watching the videos from past trips every day and asking when we get to go to Disney World. She talks about it more than me.

Candi: Sorry but I have no music for you. We are a bit lite in the music department. DH wanted to get rid of the old 80's stereo because it took up too much space but now we have nothing.

Mouseaddicts: You are so right and as for the kids, that is why we should be hitting DW and not DC. We may be going to Virginia Beach instead because it will be more relaxing. Waiting for prices to go down.

Glad you are feeling better. Did you do the nasal wash? Was it fun???

Minnie: Glad you are going. You need to keep going and I think Candi said it perfectly. Can't stop for everything.

MKY: How are you doing? You should be all packed now right? Max with you yet? I bet you are busy. Good luck with your packing.

I have some upsetting news to share. Right now, I am quite ANGRY!!!

It appears, someone is using our "credit" (DEBIT) card at WDW!!!!

Tonight, we were reviewing our budget and crunching this week's numbers when DH pulled up our bank account online. There was a $245.16 charge noted as a "POS" (point of sale) purchase at WDW Lake Buena Vista, FL!!! Obviously, we are NOT currently at WDW and did NOT make the purchase.

Unfortunately, this is the SECOND time this has happened in LESS THAN 30 DAYS!!! The previous time, the charge was $66.01 - same thing - POS at WDW Lake Buena Vista, FL. DH was supposed to dispute the charge, but I found out tonight that he didn't (long story - financial management is changing hands at our house!). So .... now, we have been charged $311.17 for purchases we DID NOT MAKE at WDW!!! (have y'all figured out I'm MAD?!?)

The ONE common denominator in this is EACH TIME the charge appeared EXACTLY 3 and a half weeks AFTER we left POP CENTURY! We always use the same card when we check in to keep on file at the front desk and then charge everything back to the room during our stay. The last time this happened, we noted it on our bank account the day we left to go back to WDW/Pop Century ...... so DH asked about it at the front desk and they gave him a phone number to call ...... and they gave him another number to call ...... and so on until he gave up ...... and neglected to dispute the charges with our bank upon our return!!!

As y'all can imagine, I will be at the bank tomorrow to dispute BOTH charges!

My issue is ..... we will be BACK at WDW in 13 days ....... what in the world do I need to do to make Disney investigate this issue to see who, why, how this happened - TWICE - and ensure it DOES NOT happen again?!?!? DH called the number for Guest Svcs tonight, but the woman on the phone only said "there is nothing we can do here. You need to file a Police Report in the town where you live." Now, let me tell y'all ..... our local police could CARE LESS what happened to us at Disney World! How can they POSSIBLY say there is nothing they can do!?!

We are DVC members and AP holers. Our upcoming trip will be # 3 of 5 planned for THIS YEAR alone! Because this is our DEBIT card that is used as a CREDIT card, the money is actually coming right out of our POCKET each time this happens! There has to be someone, somewhere that can HELP us get our money back ......

Where do we go? Who do we call? What do we do???
I am at my wit's end tonight!

Mouseaddicts: I've had some experience with credit card fruad. We've been the victims 3 times now. This won't make you feel better, but don't have a debit card that's a credit card. After our first round with our Discover Card, I got rid of that option on our ATM card. Recently, they made up go to a debit card/Visa. I called the bank and they put the credit to Zero for the Visa part of the card so again it's only an ATM. For the reason you said...it comes right out of your account.

In two of the cases, our credit card number was guessed by someone. The people in the fraud departments said it's common. I believe in the 3rd, someone from Disney Shopping took the number. What happens is they try the number and if a small purchase goes through, they charge like crazy on it. The first time with Discover, they put through a small phone charge. Discover caught it and I closed the account and they issued me a new card. That was done out East. That one was a long time ago. The second time, they bought a phone card for $10 and about 10 days later when they knew it worked they charged over $12,000...that was done in Rome. I believe that was before we started the 06 code watch...might have been spring break of 05...can't remember. Chase actually called me too. The last time was last June and I actually posted it on here. N&N Labs. This one ticked me off! I called Chase and they investigated and said it was my charge. I was ticked. Turns out we researched it on Google and called Chase back. I closed that account too.

Bottom line: 1) Get a new debit card and a different number. 2) And, use a credit card...I believe you are better protected.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's horrible...I know all too well.

As far as Disney, I would ask your bank to contact them. Disney has to have a better idea of where the charge was made, but perhaps not. They probably did it close to your trip thinking that you would miss it.

Mouseaddicts: That is so crazy but you want to hear something even worse, back in 2005, after our first trip the same thing happened to us. We got home and there was a charge from Lake Buena Vista from a day that we were not there. I called my CC company and they investigated. It said something about marina but we did not rent a boat or anything. After the cc investigation it came back with my name from picking up beepers at the Grand Floridian. I assumed it was from the meal at Alices Tea Party. This was a meal that I really thought my parents had paid for my girls to attend but I felt bad asking so I never brought it up. I never felt right about the charge because the numbers were not right, the meal was $27.49 per person x 2 inclusive of tax and our charge was $62 and change. Plus it was charged for the wrong day of the week. In addition, it was Alices Tea at the Grand Floridian, would it come up as MARINA???? I never thought that charge was right. Now I feel pretty confident that it was wrong. No way for me to really know though either. I bet this is something that the kids that work there do to make extra money. Most people probably don't even realize if they are using a Key to the Kingdom card with more than one person making charges. I pay for everything to avoid that. This way I know all the charges and what should be on the card. They only got away with it because there was a third party involved in my situation. But how many people just assume it was their husband or wife that made the purchase and think nothing of it. You go so often that you probably get hit like once each trip. That is really crazy to think about. Hey if they make an extra couple of dollars per day on top of their salary it may make the day worth while.

EE22: I agree about the credit/debit combo. I don't have that either. I hardly even use the debit card. Just charge everything and pay it off at the end of the month. Gives us the points too for our next trip. I can't believe $12k in Rome. Holy Moly!

I will add that in both cases Discover and Chase were great.

12K in Rome. Cruise, Apple Computer, train tickets (that's how they knew Rome), Abercrombie, and other things I can't even remember now.

Most charges never went through...they didn't approve them.

Mouseaddicts- YIKES !!...Im soo sorry for all the trouble your going through now ....
It just goes to show all of us ...that the world is a crazy place (I mean the world in general) ...and we have to be vigilant at all times....and we have to check and recheck everything ....
We had something happen to us years ago...when the phone cards just came out....Mr. Tomar was using the # in a store...(this was before cell phones ) and someone must have copied the card #....we got a "HUGE" bill for calls that were made to India and places in Europe !!
The Co. was very nice about the situation and deleted all the unwarrented calls...but we were feeling very violated for a while !!! Scarey really
On a better note....Mr. Tomar found a woman`s purse @ Walley World (Walmart) it was sitting in the little fold up area of the cart where you put the kiddies .....The purse was open...and cash and CC`s were in full view !!!
He took it immediately to the manager...and asked her to call the woman and return it !!....The poor woman must have been frantic after realizing the loss......
My only hope is...that someone will "Pay it Forward" that way....heaven forbid....it should happen to us !!
Hang in there...and I agree with EE22 said about asking your bank to contact Disney....!!!

The bad news ........ I went to the bank first thing this morning. The first thing the CSR did was identify the 2 specific charges and contact the debit card dept. to determine WHICH card was used (joint account - we both have cards). They said it was DH's card, not mine, therefore, I could NOT dispute the charges, etc. DH has to do all of it - in person. (his work hours are 7:00 AM - 6:30 PM Mon-Sat) The CSR at the bank suggested we try to contact Disney directly once again to see if they will reverse the charges.

The good news ..... (cause I know y'all want some right now, don't ya?)
When I informed DH of the situation - after my trip to the bank - he called the Pop Century front desk. They were a *bit* more helpful this time. After hearing the situation, they provided DH the direct phone number to the RESEARCH & BILLING Dept. for WDW.

At this time, we are working to obtain a copy of our folio from each stay at Pop Century and an itemized list of the charges in question.

Mouseaddicts - it has happened to me as well.

I only use credit cards and I check every statement and I check every couple days online as well. I am really a stickler for checking what is going on with my money.

I am one of those crazy people that covers my hands when I type in a pin number if I use my debit card.

You have a lot more protection if you are using credit cards instead of debit cards.

Good luck with the fight and ask DH what he is going to give up on the trip to cover the cost of the charges, if he doesn't fight them.....my DH is the same, can you tell?

With less than 2 weeks to go I read a trip report and it had me searching for possible offsite accomodations. I found a 6 bed pool home in Windsor Palms for $1000 less than our current plans (1 standard room at the Beach Club).

There are 3 of us (my mom, my son (14), and me on this trip

So what would you do??????? Thanks!

Hiya everyone,

Seems like I have missed alot. Max just went home. Busy weekend. Got all his stuff from here ready. new tennis shoes, and a couple of outfits. I am going to send them down in the box. We bought 2 boxes to send down. 12x12x12 & 12x 12x 8, looks like that should keep me from going crazy. The ups store lady, told me that we should mail 5 to 6 days out to ensure 4 days delievery just in case. She also said, i could weigh it here and she would give me an estimate of $$.

EE22, 4 days! wow! Hope things are getting back to normal in Iowa now. Pack!

Minnie, glad to see you decided to go! Hope you have a wonderful time.

Tomar, 9! You will be with the princess soon. Hmmm. I think max is not the only one with a bday soon.

Candi, I thought i was the only one without an ipod or mp3 player? I have a radio I can send up. Sorry. I did however; recently buy sirrius radio. It came with my car & already had the "radio" for it > so I got that instead. Now we are no longer in the radio disney poor zone.

Mouseaddict's, Oh NO. This is terrible. and totally unfortunate cause it is NOT the 1st time i heard that happening at wdw. wdw had better start looking into these matters and taking them seriously. I would think the cc company's will start calling disney about this stuff too. I am glad it did not turn you off thou for your next trip (in days!). Hope you have a great trip!

We are down to 40 days today. Kinda like the Olympic's they are in the 40 days mark. I have the diving trials on the tv. We will miss the 1st week from wdw and be home the second week.

Minnie, I know alot of people talk about these homes, and condos, and the prices are fabulous. But, Have you personally seen any of these homes, or the areas they are located? Think I would research it all out, for a future trip (you know there will be one), or make a split stay? Start at the house and then finish at a resort and compare which one you really liked better?
