you will love OKW --

I am staying at BCV on this trip -- thinking about just going ahead and booking my one day I need

Warning though -- DVC can be spoiling and lead to ownership

Thank you! You guys are making me even more excited! I am a little afriad this may lead to atleast some investigating of DVC! But I'll take that chance! :sunny:

Another teacher here! Maybe we all really need a little Disney magic after our long days of molding little minds?
;)
Our family used to go the week before or after the February or April break, but this year we had to postpone until July. Hopefully, things will work out and the codes will be released in time! If there's nothing today, I'll still be back next week, checking every morning and "talking" with my fellow Codeaholics!

Just called and still no ap rates. :grouphug:

Still waiting :hourglass and watching :3dglasses

Thanks for calling :thumbsup2

I'm not even going to try and second guess what Disney are going to do, I think they just like to keep us all anxiously waiting. I'll wait here patiently, hoping and praying :hippie: and if nothing comes out by next week I'll start to tear my hair out  ;)

:wizard: Get ready for the rates to come out now. I just paid for the AAA discount, $64.00 = membership. So that should do it. :rotfl2:

At least I am covered now for all of the discounts I already have. ;)

Going to take a break and run to the mall and get this out of my mind for a while. Have a great afternoon & when I come back maybe I will be surprised. :wizard:

I am still puzzled by the lack of AP rates. For my dates, June 30-July 8, things seem to be opening up.

I was just able to switch my WL Woodview AAA to Standard View AAA which hasn't been available for months. This is what I wanted when I made my reservation in the first place back in February and couldn't get it. I check periodically and saw the Standard View pop up a couple days ago on the WDW site but not AAA. Today it showed up on AAA so I called CRO and was able to able to switch two rooms for 8 days. Just saved myself $400. I'm still hoping for AP rates though.

Oh and they asked for my AAA number.

Just thought I would jump on this thread with everyone else. I have been watching for weeks. We are booked for the 1st week of July at the Poly with AAA. We are paid off, but if an AP discount came out that would be great!! We are in Manhattan, Illinois. We just moved from New Lenox. I hope some pixie dust comes our way! :)

Can anyone speculate why Disney is doing this? I wish we could talk to an employee who really knows something about this subject!

It just seems so odd that they won't have summer rates and that no one has heard anything!

I am speculating that if no AP rates are forthcoming, that it might be due to the new leadership at Disney. Hopefully it will become crystal clear that they shouldn't bite the hand that feds them. While we are loyal Disney vacationers (this June is our 16th Disney vacation and always at Deluxe) we certainly don't like paying rack rates and won't in the future. Only doing it this time since other family members are joining us. There should be some reward system for frequent Disney vacationers. Sometimes I feel we are taken for granted...... Perhaps it will take lower attendance at resorts and parks before any real incentives are forthcoming... If only Walt were alive today......

I think it's important to remember what disney is and what it isn't. It's a for-profit company that has to report earnings every quarter. Discounts always have been, and always will be, about trying to maximize revenue. They have never, and will never, be about rewarding loyalty or encouraging repeat customers, except to the extent that they think the repeat customers will stop coming or will come less (which they might, but actually probably won't, at least not in large numbers.) If they think they can fill the resorts with rack paying customers, they will do it, even if means saying goodbye to thousands of prior customers.

Is this short sighted? It sort of seems maybe it is, but I actually doubt it. I think disney is just growing more sophisticated about how to maximize revenues. I also think they rightly understand that their most hardcore fans are not going to just stop coming. I also think they get the fact that, by and large, Annual Passes are not a great deal for them. While they would love to sell Annual Passes to people who come to the parks for fewer than 14 days, they actually turn out to be a losing proposition for people that would come for more. Room discounts added on make it worse. They also are a bit inconsistent with the trend toward magic your way.

I get that people are disappointed about the potential of there not being codes. (I think there will be ultimately some kind of discount, but I think disney is working very hard to ween us off the idea that there will always be a code, only offering them to sell rooms that would truly go unsold.) But I guess I'd like to talk people out of seeing it as a betrayal. It's not a betrayal. Do you know the story of the frog and the scorpion -- where the scorpion convinces the frog to carry him across the water, and the frog says, "but you'll sting me." The scorpion says, "no I won't -- not after you do a nice thing for me." When they get across, the scorpion stings the frog, and the frog asks him why. "It's in my nature," says the scorpion.

I don't know what Walt really wanted or didn't want. But I do know that Disney/ESPN/Capcities in its current form, simply, does not give a crap about you, me or anyone, other than what's in our wallets. But it's a two way street -- I don't really care about their shareholders either and I will take advantage of every discount and trick I can.

There are several threads going about why discounts may or may not be coming. I think it would really be helpful to keep these types of posts to those threads if at all possible.

This thread is a one for waiting on codes and needs to kept as positive as possible for all of us that are still waiting.

Hello code watchers :wave2:

I stupidly didnt apply a AAA rate at the time that I booked. I tried to apply it to my existing reservation just now :confused3 (knowing there probably wouldnt be any luck) Nothing is available with a AAA other then SSR. So now Im wondering since they seem to have so many resorts booked, will they offer a AP code rate at all?! Like others have said previously, it all seems to be booked rack rate, and so I highly doubt to see a AP code for June atleast... :rolleyes1 still keepin fingers crossed, but nonetheless
 IM GOING TO DISNEYWORLD :cool1:

Well I have been watching this thread daily since our trip was planned months ago. I don't think I have ever actually posted on it though.

DH is a teacher and I am now a SAHM, and as we all know planning a WDW trip smartly makes a huge difference in costs. Our family has A LOT of vacation time, but we have to make wise financial decisions and plan carefully. My dh likes to remind me that "we have a lot more time than money"

We have a few days at the Dolphin for a teacher rate, then BVC, then WL. I was going to get an AP if rates were available but I am not counting on it. We have a decent AAA rate at WL but of course I would love to shave off some $$$ from it!

I have to admit it has become a daily routine for me to get up and check this thread each morning over coffee! Have a great weekend all! :teeth:

deedeetoo --> funny thing: Our original ressies were at AAA rate:

6/30-7/5: POR:RS standard view
7/5-7/8: AKL water view
7/7-7/11: WL courtyard view
7/11-7/15: AKL savannah view

Since no codes had been released yet, we'd decided to cancel the first two legs of the trip. I called CRO (2:15pm EST) to ask first if they had any standard or woods views at WL since I tried to get that for the 6/30-7/8 dates also. They said they only had courtyard view available. Lucky you! Strange that the info was different CM to CM. Anyway, I went ahead and cancelled the first two legs, so if anyone is interested in the 6/30-7/8 dates...CALL NOW!!!
:thumbsup2
I also had the very friendly CM (who sall remain nameless) check if there were any less $$$ rooms available for our 7/7-7/15 dates. There weren't. I asked him IF AP codes were released, could we apply them to our ressies later. He said we could. I said "I don't think they'll be releasing them for the summer though." He answered that they definitely would be releasing codes, it's just a matter of when. I said that I had just assumed that there weren't going to be codes this summer since it was so late. He said "Oh, no, there will be codes. You just have to wait and see when and then you can call back in and apply them then." Now, I know the CMs don't always know for sure, and he might have just been trying to make me feel good, but considering I approached it from an "it's a done deal - no codes" standpoint, I felt really good that he honestly was expecting codes to release sooner or later. Hopefully SOONER!!

A little glimmer of hope?

We are in the EXACT same boat as you. I am also a SAHM and DH is a teacher. We have plenty of free time but not much extra cash. That being said we do like to take long breaks and do different things but I cannot spend $300 a night to do it. The moderates are fine for me, we are 5 ppl, but $175 a night is too crazy for us. We also have to watch our ADR's which is fine, I just love having the uninterupted family time.

This thread from day one has been about discussing the codes for our dates, the possibility of codes, and the reasons for codes. If anything the post you chose to quote is just discussing the reasons we might or might not see a code. I think for those of us waiting for a code that it is indeed fitting. When there was another thread about what would happen if no codes showed there were responses the OP didn't like and had the thread closed. So the OP is fine in posting her opinion on this thread. :thumbsup2

I really love reading everyone's opinion and advice on this board - thanks for the whole bunch of you!

Minnie, the above subject on codes wasn't as off topic as the whole discussion about DVC a few pages ago. I enjoy discussing all of this code stuff, it's interesting to see what people have experienced.
It just helps pass the time until we get more CM comments or news.

I like what the last CM had to say, I am still hoping!

We have these Res:
6/17 All Star Music
6/18, 19, 20, 21 WL Standard
6/22, 23, 24 WL Concierge
7/21, 22 CSR
7/28, 29 Poly
10/6, 7 FW

So BOY OH BOY am I hoping for some discounts! I am thankful for my AAA disct though, sure am, uh huh!

DreamsofDisney -

I just checked WDW site for 6/30 to 7/8. Standard room at WL is coming up. I have the window open right now (2:52 pm) and it's there. I'm not sure if AAA is available without calling, but Standard View room still seems to be available over the web.

I would call again if I were you.

That does sound good. I don't think there won't be discounts at all, just a matter of when and I would really like to get on with the planning of our trip and getting excited for what we are doing. I need to decide on a drop dead date to make our decision. At this point SW still had not released a ding during July so I haven't been put up against the wall yet but once they start announcing July fares, I will need to decide if we should just go in August during free dining instead of July.

deedeetoo - Hmmm...I just checked and saw that both WL and AKL show up with standard room availablility for those dates when they didn't last week. I had the CM check and even asked to check AAA or rack. Weird. Either way, I crunched the numbers and the AAA rate for the 7/7-7/15 dates at the "nicer" views costs almost exactly the same because the whole trip would fall during Value Season. Plus, I'm thinking it's safer in case they skip 4th of July codes and still have some for the rest of the summer. If there aren't codes, I'll be watching for a good Southwest DING fare out of BDL or BOS to ease the pain a little!

Hi Everyone. Its been a while since i posted on here but enjoy as well reading everyday each post and waiting kind of patiently for codes. ;) About two weeks ago my husband talked to a grand gathering cm and she was very friendly and informative. She lives in the orlando area and seemed to have worked there for quite sometime we assumed anyway by her knowledge. She told us that she feels very confident that codes will come out and expect them around may 9th. Well my first response when off the phone was im sure they will be sooner than that but obviously i was wrong so heres hoping that she does have some sort of esp or palm reading :rotfl: and that may 9th is correct. Have had my hopes up every morning and been dissapointed heres to next week. :wizard: Still looking forward to our trip though we'll be at the polynesian July 14th thru the 22nd. :cheer2:

Another teacher here! Going in August.

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone who is calling in the am! I always know I can check here first!
