June/July/August 2006 Code watch

Lets all be friends and not make judgements about each other :grouphug:

Come on Disney give us some codes ...please :)

I called this morning, no codes yet. I was thinking of upgrading to POFQ since they have changed the preferred rooms at ASMo. I am still hoping and waiting! :wizard:

Comments like the one above and the "book what you can afford without a discount" really tick me off.

They are made by those that do not have to worry about how much they are spending on vacation and are quite to rude to those that have to be concerned about it.

Really this thread is for those of us that are trying for a discount not for those that don't need one in the first place. Comments like doing away with the discounts, ect belong in a totally different thread.

This one needs to be for spreading :wizard: in hopes that the codes come out soon.

My best to those of you waiting so patiently (well okay not so patiently anymore come on Disney get with it already) for the codes to come out. I really do hope those that need them get them :wizard: :wizard:

Sorry, but you really know NOTHING about me to know what I can and can't afford. For the record, I would love to stay at the Poly or one of the other deluxes, but AKL is my limit and a standard room is what I can afford. I booked my trip well in advance knowing this, made payments towards it and have thankfully paid it off. I have not booked at a resort that is not affordable to me unless I receive an AP discount. As an AP holder, such as yourself, I assume, I too would appreciate an AP discount applied, but like I said if one doesn't come, I have a AAA discount applied. If AP codes are not released for my time frame, I won't be rearranging my trip or cancelling and going somewhere else. As for not worrying about what I spend on vacation, that is laughable. I plan really early, roll loose change, collect disney dollars, cash in AMEX points and get a DDE card for discounts towards dining. No one has made any comments about hoping WDW does away with codes and as long as I have an AP, I will frequent these boards and I will try to apply one if and when codes are released. My trip won't be ruined if I don't get one. Good luck getting your code! :wizard:

All the poster pointed out was that Disney may be enforcing the "periodic discounts" that is listed anywhere that it discusses an AP discount. This thread is about discounts and the discussion of discounts, I don't think it's a thread about spreading hopes that codes come out. It's for the collection of information as well as venting or hoping that we all get a break in the price of our hotels. Posters are just starting to be realistic that a code may not come out no matter how much we all post or pray for it.
AP's were just that in the beginning, annual passes to save money for those people who wanted to come to Disney often. One of the perks of having an AP was that you may potentially be given a discount on a room during certiain times of the year. The discounts have changed dramatically as more and more AP's are used. Years ago, it was about 45% off, now it's a dollar amount and that depends on what level of resort you stay at and what time of year.

I have never seen any posts being rude to posters who are waiting for codes. Even people who can afford to stay at whatever resort they want without a discount want that discount to save money, I know I do. The plain and simple fact is, the discount codes that any hotel puts out is never a given and isn't always available and Disney isn't a different. If anyone is stressing over it, then at this point they may want to either change their dates, drop a few nights, change to a more financially feasible hotel, or boycott and cancel. It's like booking a cruise, you should always book a cabin that you will be happy with and afford and then keep your fingers crossed that the upgrade fairy visits you and moves you up.

Man! I REALLY thought today was going to be the day. Oh well. I am giving it till the end of the week before I really freak out and consider changing plans. Are codes ever released mid-day?

Thanks, you summed it up much better than me. :)

I'm glad they changed the preferred rooms. I prefer to stay in Dalmations and Toy Story as opposed to Fantasia. Of course, I don't approve of the reason why they did it, which is obviously just to make more money.

:goodvibes Let's all try to look on the bright side....for all those that are stressing about codes (me included)....let's try to be thankful that we are at least going to Disney....my DH said it best this morning, I told him "no codes, again" and he said, "no codes, oh, well, I still love Disney." I've concentrated on the codes so long, it just dawned on me that my trip is only little more than a month away...June 10th here I come AKL! :goodvibes

My DH said this morning, "Is this your worst problem? Then life is not too bad." He is right. I just have to talk myself into believing it.

Thank you for your reasonable answer! I check this board every day to see if a code has been released because this is my first time with an AP. However, it does not ruin my day, make me upset, or cause me financial stress. Goodness, I can't believe how many people are actually praying for a code. :confused3

I know everyone would love a discount, myself included. However that said, and I know that it is frustrating waiting, personally I think the forums add to that, but that is my opinion.

Disney gives discounts to fill rooms. That's the bottom line. They don't do it to make anyone happy or reward the repeat guest. It is a business decision pure and simple.

However there are factors that help determine that decision. Occupancy levels are one of the main factors. If levels are up, discounts are down. When someone says book what you can afford, I see that as good advice, not a put down about anyone's financial status and to think so is getting a little too sensitive about this.

If one books a room one can not afford without a discount, Disney sees that room as booked when determining whether to offer discounts or not. So in fact you hurt your chances of getting the very discount you so badly want.

It is also poor planning to ever count on the discounts as a sure thing. They have been good with them in the last couple of years, but that is not the history of Disney.

I hope everyone, myself included, is pleasantly surprised when they come out, but my Disney gut feeling is they ain't coming especially for June.

Certainly with Disney anything is possible, but not likely. Almost always they load the codes into the computer at closing of the DRC and they are there when they open the next morning. Which is why sometimes a guest gets the jump on everyone else when an agent books something too early the might before.

My gut is not good on this one though. I really don't feel them for June.

Again since 2003 Disney hasnt skipped ANY time period (outside of the major holidays and even at those if you could check-in a few days before you would get AP Rates). So just because they are slow to release them, relax b/c they wont skip June either.

I agree that June will probably be skipped over.(of course its my fault I have bad luck) At this point I do not expect them to offer anything over the summer, even though every cm I have talked to doesnt see why they would not be released. I will be thrilled if they do, but at this point I am not too hopeful.Sorry maybe its lack of pixie dust or something. Im bummin' :sad2:

I just spoke to "Agatha." (2:30pm on Wed. 5/3). She said that they had expected the codes to be in the computer this morning, but they were not there. She said to call back tomorrow.

Maybe there was a "glitch" with the code and it didn't go through???

Here's more hope for all of us!!!

VERY EASY to make comments such as this when you are staying at a DVC which doesn't have a thing to do with codes  :sad2:

Think what you will, but I'm also waiting for AP discounts for June. We have 2 concierge stays booked as well as our DVC ressies and on the Deluxe resorts, the savings with an AP discount is quite substantial. If they don't happen though, I also won't let it ruin our trip..... :thumbsup2

Regardless, I do find that it's VERY EASY for me to make that comment because quite a few people on these boards (both AP & non-AP holders) complained endlessly when Best Rate came to fruition and now that it's gone, people are still getting angry & complaining...... :confused3

I hope that for everyone's sake the rates are released, but people need to book their rooms with the belief that the discounts may not be there, especially during busy times.

That is the best news I have heard in a long while. :listen: I just called to add AAA code to our reservation, last week it was not available and this week it is. CRO did not have it in their system, only in AAA's but I did mention AP code while on the phone and CM got annoyed. I have a headache from this. :headache:

I don't even need the alarm clock anymore, I just wake up at 5:50 and head to the computer. Maybe I'll just sleep with it tonight :rolleyes2 ...I sure hope Agatha is right and that there's good news tomorrow!!!
