June/July/August 2006 Code watch

Think what you will, but I'm also waiting for AP discounts for June. We have 2 concierge stays booked as well as our DVC ressies and on the Deluxe resorts, the savings with an AP discount is quite substantial. If they don't happen though, I also won't let it ruin our trip..... :thumbsup2

Regardless, I do find that it's VERY EASY for me to make that comment because quite a few people on these boards (both AP & non-AP holders) complained endlessly when Best Rate came to fruition and now that it's gone, people are still getting angry & complaining...... :confused3

I hope that for everyone's sake the rates are released, but people need to book their rooms with the belief that the discounts may not be there, especially during busy times.

I booked during value season because that is what I could afford and I thought there would be a better chance of getting the AP rate. The only reason we are going back this year is because we have the AP and with the discount it made the vacation affordable for my family. Without that discount it is not as affordable and really changes things for us. I don't feel that it is owed to me, only because it was always offered in the past I assumed it would be offered again.

Well, I was wrong..BUT i have 8 hours to be right. Glass half full or half empty.

I called no less than 5 times today. I had to be in the car all morning and everytime I called I got a different response...they varied from:
1. check AP site
2. I dont know why they are not out already.
3. I thought they would be out 2 weeks ago
4. I have no idea why marketing is doing what they are doing..

and 5....the best of all....call back in 2-3 weeks. ( i just hung up after that repsonse.)

It goes to show you, not to believe ANYTHING they tell you.
I was basically gaurenteed by a CM last Thursday...( remain nameless due to respect for Lindsy1052 a former CM ) and I qoute "call back Wednesday May 3rd , you will be VERY happy you did."

The CM gave me EVERY indication the codes were to be out TODAY. She was a CM veteran and said.."the summer codes have come out the 1st Wednesday in May the last 2 years". I told her that is true. She said "they will be out May 3rd".

I really dont know what to say at this point other than express disappointment and anger that we all have.

I have read thru some of the post. We seem to be all getting agrravated to say the least by what is happening. I have gotten into a few disagreements with some and for that I have already apoligized.

BUT remember all....we're in this together :cool1:

Everyone got their dialing finger ready for tomorrow AM? I really thought it was going to be today. Even DH (who doesn't pay that much attention to these things) was surprised when I said AP rates were a no go today.

Every CM that I've talked to seems to think there will definitely be July rates and they are all surprised that they haven't been released yet.

Tomorrow IS another day . . . .

Not giving up...I just can't!
I'll see you all on here tomorrow AM!

Come on Disney, be nice and make us smile!!! :)

I disagree with Sammie's gut and I predict that a code will be out for June. I'm not predicting the exact date of release.....but, I'll go out on a limb with my confidence in a June code being released.

I am prepared to bet KingGoofy's house on the fact that a code for June will be released sometime before June 3rd... :teeth:

I know alot of you are waiting to "sure-up" your vacation plans....but, if you look back to any of these "code watch" threads you will always see a point when everyone is getting aggrevated....some posters are "dooming and glooming"....some posters are predicting no code.....some posters are betting things they don't have that a codes will be released :thumbsup2 , posters are arguing and venting.....

Then.....the code is finally released.....and everyone is happy and forgets about all the trauma of waiting for the code release.

I remember waiting for codes back in 2004....I booked the AAA rate....then, the AP code was released....then, a Disney Visa rate was released....then, a Disney Visa 7 for 4 package deal was released. I changed my reservations about 5 times that year.

Here are some good tips from some of the posts I've read:

1) Be Patient :thumbsup2

2) Check the AP Site :badpc:

3) Call back in 2 or 3 weeks :furious:

You are going to Disney within the next few months..... :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Enjoy.... :woohoo:

Speed :teleport:

The only other code watch thread I participated in was a couple of years ago in the fall, and the week I was going (the week after the codes that were already out expired) was the only week they skipped. Turned out the place was almost empty then too (I believe it was right after Labor Day). The money I didn't save on the room wasn't spent at restaurants and gift shops. No loss for Disney.
I looked on Mousesavers, and the latest the codes have been out for this time in the last few years, was 5/8. It may still be a few days.

I have a little too much time on my hands :rolleyes2 ...I went back thru all the AP rate release dates to see what days of the week they fell on and here's the breakdown (sorry if this has already been done):

Monday - 4
Tuesday - 2
Wednesday - 7
Thursday - 4
Friday - 1

Maybe we can put a 5 in the Thursday column tomorrow... :rolleyes1

I know everyone is getting aggravated, but like another poster said, tomorrow is another day!! :sunny:

We will get up, call, and post, like we have done every morning for the last few weeks. :surfweb: Who is making the coffee in the morning??

Here's hoping that we get some relief tomorrow!!! pixiedust: pixiedust:

I just hung up with Disney and the grand gatherings department. The CM I spoke with was no nice. She said in all of her years she has never seen this happen and usually she finds FL resident and AP discounts out about 60 days prior. They have been discussing it in reservations and no one seems to understand why they haven't been released and are suprised. They also don't see why June would be forgotten about.
I had her check my time in June at The Yacht Club to see availability and from 6/13 to 6/18 there was plenty of availability left in every category still showing so the resort wasn't even close to being sold out.

The concern i have is that the last code release went to June 3rd. Usually, the release of that springtime code always went up to July 4. Around this time the last few years the new codes were for July 5 and beyond to the end of summer.

This code release in April raised a red flag immediately by only going to June 3. I am VERY concerned that all or parts of June are being passed over. With June 4 being one month away...I say "no way" will June be included in the next release. :confused3 :badpc:

Has anyone been able to log onto the Disney Passholder site, today? Since this morning I keep getting "Sorry, system error..."

Yea but Kinggoofy, you also thought it was going to be today and bet on it!!!!

I've been watching this thread as I'm hoping for a AP rate for August, but dont usually call or even check every day. Last year I booked AAA rate for August and at some point noticed AP rates were out and called and switched without issue. So, I guess I'm pretty lax about it so please excuse if this is a dumb question!

Anyway, I see others talking about the passholder site and having never logged on, I decided to today. I was looking at the current MM and see that it talks about AP rates through 06/03/06, but then I went to the February MM and noticed something. On the last page where it talks about going online to www.disneyworld/passholder to see about discount deals, there is a disclaimer that lists "Seasonal Blockout Dates." The dates listed are 04/08/06-04/21/06, 06/10/06-08/17/06, and 12/22/05-01/05/06. Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I have now read this to mean the majority of summer is blocked out for AP rates? It was in really small writing on the last page over to the right, easy to miss.

I think you were reading about black out dates for Seasonal passes, not for AP codes.

I think that has to do with a different type of pass not AP and I think they are talking about the parks. I read about this before as someone freaked out awhile back about that. Not 100% though. There here have been rates for those April dates...not all of them though, but some.

However there are factors that help determine that decision. Occupancy levels are one of the main factors. If levels are up, discounts are down.
This always has me curious. A couple of years ago, I booked the Beach Club forst at rack, then changed it to AAA, then to a public code that saved me $700! So they knew they had me solidly. And then, 3 weeks before my trip, I get a postcard that ended up saving me even more money.

Their occupancy as far as my booking was sealed with a nice discount, and they STILL sent me another discount. Why would they do that? They didn't have to entice me in order to fill up a low occupancy hotel, since they must have seen that I had a great discount.

I don't know if it's true that if levels are up, discounts are down. Summer of 2004, I called and called trying to get a CR tower room, but everything was booked for my week. I called everyday hoping for a cancellation, and sure enough, I got one. And I STILL got a code to use, for $75 off the nightly rate. The tower was filled to capacity, but there was still a code released.

For this July 4th week, I was able to recently book TWO tower rooms. Now, this is a prime time for guests going to WDW. Occupancy levels, at least for the CR tower, are down. Does that mean there will be a code released to help fill it?

I think the code business is a big mystery, and it's tons of fun analyzing, but for me the analysis hasn't made sense as far as marketing.

And so, I also rely on my gut and say that there will be both AP and public codes released for summer!
