June/July/August 2006 Code watch

I called last week and tried to get a second room at all star movies for 6/16-26th. They had to move us to the All Star Music. They had no availability in the Pop or at the Movies.. I even tried to get a Suite and those were taken. At least we're somewhere on Disney Property and we never stayed at Music.

I got the same answer when I tried to book a AAA room at Movies for 6/17, so we ended up booking Music.
Consistency is good, gives me confidence that they know what they're talking about! Lol

Called - still nothing. Couldn't get any more info from her.

BUMMER! I am trying not to stress but it's getting the better of me!!! Disney....come on! We've been so good and patient, pretty please give us an AP discount?

Fingers crossed for sumnmer AP codes and room availability!

:goodvibes

We're booked with AAA codes at POR: RS from 6/30-7/5 and AKL 7/5-7/8, because that's what we could manage without AP codes, but we're hoping for AP codes so we can switch to all AKL or WL/AKL. There hasn't been any standard room availability at WL/AKL during those dates, but even woods/water view will be okay if there are AP codes.

Day off from school/work today, but after today, I won't have computer access between 7am-3:30pm so I'm REALLY hoping it's today!

I'm tired of "nothing yet"! I want to be surprised one morning with: "Yes, those just came out AND there's availability [for my resort/room choice]! " I don't want much, do I? :confused3

Could it really come out in the middle or end of the day? Has this ever happened in the past?
Hoping so!!!

I called also - Monday 24 @ 8:45 EST
No AP's as of yet past June 3rd
Oh well, time to wait some more :hourglass

What surprises me is they don't have any Florida resident rates beyond 6/3. At this point last year, they were out for months.

pooh2001: May I make a request?? :teeth: You're the OP, and you can change the title of this thread.. My request is, can you remove the GRINNING smiley face from the original post, to something else, and then once the AP rates DO come out for the summer, go back to that big GRIN? LOL Every time I see the grin I think "Oh good, something to smile about, the AP rates must've been released today!" then I click on the thread and see "No, not today". :3dglasses The grin could be the code symbol for "YES THE RATES ARE OUT!" :sunny:

Anyway, I'm sort of being funny, but sort of serious too. Do you think you could consider this? :scratchin

Thanks! :thumbsup2

A few thoughts.

Room availablity is subject to change by the release of rooms previously held for conventions and TA booking. Disney "sets" aside rooms for things like packages booked via the airlines, expedia etc. Then at a certain point the TA or whomever either commits to eating the unsold room or releases it back to Disney. It's a common occurance.

At CSR, CR, YC/BC you also have the convention effect. If the convention doesn't book the rooms by x date they are released back into inventory...

Funny thing. Didn't someone say something about 1000 posts before we get a discount? Well we are now around 930, do you think that maybe it is a sign of things to come? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Don't shoot me. I'm only the messenger. ;)

Peak summer season does look quite busy. Expedia is showing, for 6/24-7/1, availability only in Pop and ASMu, and only standard, not preferred rooms. All moderates and ASSp/ASMo have at least one day in that week when they are fully booked. YC, BC, CR, and GF are also full at least a few of those days. SSR has no studios left. BW has only standard view. AKL has only Savannah. WL has only courtyard.

WDW's inventory may be different than Expedia's, but a quick spot check on disneyworld.com shows no moderates for a party of four for that week. Of the values, ASSp has preferred only, ASMo has standard only, ASMu has both, POP has standard only. I didn't check the deluxes, as you have to check each individually.

If the rooms are filling up at rack (and it looks like they are), there may not be much in the way of discounting. If you don't already have a reservation for a trip you really are counting on, I'd get one soonish.

CarolA has a good point about inventory being released closer to dates, but I'd feel better about my own chances if there were still plenty of rooms available...

The good news is: checking mid-July (7/15-7/22): only CSR is full, and that's probably a Convention Effect. Maybe it's not as grim as the June dates suggest.

If it takes 1000 posts for AP comes out, here is mine to help us get there. I will go search for pennies, 4 leaf clover, burn pixie dust, and anything else I can do to help this process. :wizard: Here's hoping for tomorrow, it HAS to be tomorrow, right?

Yes, exactly has been my theory. And with New Orleans out of commission you have a lot of convention business from that city moving over to Orlando. I used to plan conventions and we did have one at the Yacht and Beach Club. We had like 80% of the rooms in those resorts and only left 20% for general public. We did not actually FILL those rooms, only HOPE of filling those rooms. We were holding them at a convention rate (discount) for attendees of our conference. We were originally hoping for 600 attendees which would all need their own room (not to mention employees working the show). In the end we probably had closer to 400 attendees but we still held those rooms until the last possible second.

Going back to New Orleans, we had the same conference in that city for YEARS in a row (can't remember exactly how many). We were so bored down there we begged for a new city. Finally our only options, based on hotel availability and convention space, were Las Vegas and Orlando. As far as I know the convention space in New Orleans is still being used for clean up efforts and the hotels are not at capacity. Every year it was very tight to find hotel rooms during convention times and we always booked like 5 years in advance. This just goes to show the ripple effect of Katrina.

Another interesting thing, I have read that the parks are not as full as they were last year during Easter break. That would also coincide with convention business because the attendees of the conference would be at the conference but not at the parks but would still fill the hotel rooms.

I guess what I am trying to say is based on the various conventions contracts we should see blocks of rooms becoming available all at one time. It will be interesting to see.

Well, I am attending a convention in June that is at the Gaylord and we are out of rooms. I have a room at the Swan booked on an AP rate and at least one of my coworkers is at the Poly...... So we are eating up rooms that might have normally gone to folks on vacation.

Here is what I found for my dates June 30 - July 8. A few weeks ago not much was available. I was convinced things were so full there wouldn't be codes.

Last week I started checking again. Almost everything was coming up as available on WDW website - maybe not all views, but I could get into every resort I tried. Then I went to AAA website. Again, every resort I looked at was available. I have to admit I was only looking at Deluxes and Mods so I don't know about values. Even POFQ came up which was my first choice of a mod and hadn't been available for quite some time. Then I went to Expedia. Expedia had much less availability than either WDW or AAA. Their view allowed you to see individual dates and what I thought was interesting was that a resort would be availalbe for all but one night, and that night was usually something odd like a Thursday. I think rooms are freeing up and they allot different rooms to differerent marketing outlets.

BTW I have rooms booked at WL using AAA rate so I'm really just checking my options. I may move down to a mod if those AP rates don't come out.

I sure hope a code comes out this week ! Funny, this was the first year that we purchased annual passes with the hopes of using the added perk of a room discount, we would renew anyway (love the AP), but i`m thinking about how OUR luck is right now!!!???@#%
