June 23rd 2012 - Commandeering the Disney Fantasy - Pirates back in the Caribbean

< in response to my partial report about the Wonder sailing last weekend >

Oh man, not thrilled with that report about Wonder- considering we're cruising on her in a couple of months with inside rooms this time- not concierge... which means we MUST eat in the dining room whether we like it or not.

And oh man, I wish you'd been chosen on our cruise instead! That was probably awesome! Congrats!

< in response to an image of a Mom and Dad blissfully walking thier toddler through the surf >

Aww it doesn't seem weird at all. I totally get it. :)

< talking about kids growing up - and how I seem to recall it >

How you described yourself with girls is how our eldest DD has mostly been with boys. She was a total tomboy and apparently came across as flirting at times when she totally didn't mean it that way!
Unfortunately slightly different than how you describe is that once she started getting attention from boys she decided she liked that attention. :confused3 Can't put her in a bubble though I guess. Might be illegal. doesn't mean I haven't thought about it for a second a time or two though. LOL

I'll try and reply to the three remarks above ~

About the Wonders' cooking staff melt down - well - we presume they will have figured out WHAT HAPPENED - and how not to have it happen again. That kind of thing seems fixable to me.

Aside from that - the trip was memorable and just barely enough for our kids to NOT complain!? I was so amazed they had no complaints. Having so many friends helped a bit perhaps - and we did get to see Dreams twice - and comfortably - which helped.

For my taste - I could definately take those two days and add another week or two before I'd feel like it was a "nice" vacation. TWO NIGHTS is like only ONE full day???? Yeah - to be honest - I felt like they had no time to do so many things I was accustomed to doing - that it did not really feel like a DCL voyage. But it was inexpensive - simple and easy for a lot of our friends to join in sampling DCL.

Yeah - and on being choosen to compete in the "How Well You Know Your Spouse Contest" ... my reply would be "NO ~ NO ~ NO ~ NO" because too many would have the real "dirt" on me an' my spouse... and it would come back to haunt me! It's tough enough that Eyorelover (misspelled?) Laura has PICTURES of me/us in the show and - of course she witnessed the whole thing!

< wink! >

----------------------

As for the next thing - the Mom and Dad walking through the surf with child. I tell ya' ... I found myself just staring at that image when I first came across it = and I was thinking back to the times - the many times we've done near exactly that in some form or another and thinking about how it felt - and it felt exactly as it looks there. Just good memories worth savoring... KWIM!

----------------------

Kids growing up - what's to worry, eh? ( shivers and groaning ) OK ... I take it all back! I watch my kids like a hawk - as I'm sure we all do. And I wonder openly about how we can't shelter them too much - AKA your bubble reference. However they are too young to truly "know it all" right? So I try to keep my eyes and ears open - and just work my way through each day and week managing thier deal. Just last night I had a serious talk with the older one - and she gets it. We were talking about test taking and how it compares to practicing for soccer versus playing in the games - AND in playing in the final championship game. We're not on the field watching the clouds blow by - we need to be engaged - and "A" students have to score and break up the opposing team just in the nick of time to avoid them scoring! Crunch time - and WHY we care about how we do?

Am I a nut? Wait - let me rephrase it - AM I A NUT about our kids and grades? Well - let me rephrasde that again.... ( chuckles ) ... it's my parents who are the Nuts who made me the Nut I am today. Or rather, is it my grand-PA who made my Dad the Nut who made me the Nut I am today. Gee... all this talk about Nuts makes me think I might have some shared genetic history or mixed past with ROGER - him being the Nutmeg dude an' all?

Yeah ... he's the Nutty "Dude".... I get that from some of the young boys I over hear at my daughters' school.

Did I ever tell you about how Alicia told me once she liked me because I used a minimum of Claifornia "slang" and spoke proper english as she learned in back in good ol' PA... in her ONE signal light home town? And here I am using "DUDE"....

And now for something completely unexpected.... NO IMAGES POSTED with this ONE!???

GOOD AFTERNOON ALL!

That would be great, even better if you can play. Last time we had gentleman from the UK ref. He did a splendid job!

We went to the new stadium this past summer. Very nice. Another yankee stadium mini meet sounds tempting.

We'll sign you up. This is co-ed.

We'll add you to the list. You guys are vets. I think we should get a new set of jerseys.

Hi Monica! Sounds good. Signing you up. Were you blue or orange?

We just have to lure Tom and Crash in again.

In!

You probably gathered this from his post to you, but Rob would love to play again.

You are awesome Pete!:thumbsup2

Kylie and Miranda will have to kick the ole soccer ball around. I am sure Miranda's coach is not too happy that we are taking her on vacation before the qualifying tournament but she can still run on the ship.
She is 11 but their new coach is a former professional player whose full time job is coaching soccer and he is pretty intense.

Megan will gladly leave that flute on dry land. :lmao:

Coral....Kylie would love to have someone to play soccer with!!!

Kylie plays Spring and Fall soccer with her club and a winter indoor season with her same teammates, but not formally through her club. Her Fall training won't start up again until August. She won't miss anything while on the cruise. Does Miranda's team play through the Summer?

BTW.....what grade is Miranda in? Kylie is currently in 5th grade.

We're also booked Cat 5A....

Our cast:
Me, Jill
DH, Chuck
DD, Caroline who will be 8 by this sailing
DS, Garrett who will be 5 by this sailing

Welcome to your family!

We've been to Charleston once, and wow is that a beautiful city! We really want to go back again.

I must agree :goodvibes

And Tina, they have all grown so since these photos!

The expression that kids grow up so fast come to mind.

The Jets are loosing. Can't bare to watch. Packers won!

I was routing for the Jets........my team lost long ago. I am not to excited about this superbowl but always look forward to the commercials.:lmao:

Thought I would introduce myself. I am the DD of VillagesBarbara who was not able to sail on the EBPC cruise. I told my parents and sister they were not allowed to sail without me again so here I am. Had to twist my DH's arm a little to book another cruise when we have the Double Dip on the Dream in August. But I pulled out the making memories with the family card, so he agreed. Looking forward to meeting everyone my sister and parents have talked about for the past few years. I haven't sailed since 5/07, so I really need to get on the ship again.

Welcome aboard ! Family card is always a good choice.:)

Anyone planning to do the Castaway Cay 5K?

I am a somewhat new runner (since last year), but I am planning to do the Princess 1/2 Marathon in 2012 with some girlfriends, so I was thinking that I might do the Castaway Cay 5K as well. I suppose it will depend on how many of those 'Drinks of the Day' I have in the week leading up to it! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm planning on the CC 5K. Hopefully it won't be too hot.

Yep the M's will be there. My parents are in Rio de Janiero this week going onto to Chile, Argentina and Antartica the next few weeks. I am afraid the trips I plan are too tame for them LOL!

That's great ! They will need the trips you plan for them to relax.

We are just south of Raleigh - It's only a couple of hours drive to North Myrtle Beach, so we might just be there. :thumbsup2[/QUOTE]

Oh good. At least we have some time to plan and it's not last min.

You all are just way too chatty...no way that I can even try and keep up this time around...will do my best to check in once in while.

It's not as bad as last time............yet.:rolleyes1

Hi to all!
Back from the Wonder's Cruise to Nowhere and happy to say we had a blast going nowhere! We also booked 6 cabins for this cruise - 2 5B verandah's and 4 11a inside cabins thanks to Tai and Des :) Our friends also booked a verandah. Looks like we will be 15 adults and 4 kids this time.
I know I'll never be able to keep up on here, but will do my best trying!

Welcome aboard. :woohoo:

Looks like we are a gonna be joining all ya pirates!!!!! It will be myself, my roomie (Misti) and the 2 grandchildren Dominique will be turning 12 on the cruise and Faith will have turned 5. Have done many Disney cruises now and we are doing a back to back with this one. Staying on afterwards to do the Eastern. Our last cruise was the Wonder NYE cruise (eastern) and had a blast. Getting ready to move to Alaska for the next 2 years, so will be more than ready for the warm tropical breezes of the Carib.

Welcome aboard.:woohoo:

I was thinking about attempting this. I figure I have 17 months to get myself ready for it. I don't run, jog and sometimes walk so this is HUGE for me. I don't think it would be hot weather in June. ( At least early in morning )

:banana: Yeah , me Faith is coming ......of course excited to see you guys as well ...lol

thank you!!!!! and so do the girls

Congratulations Tom & Alicia !!!!

What fun ! Almost glad I wasn't there.:rolleyes1 I could never get Chuck to play that game.

I am having trouble getting the banner on here. Photobucket has changed since I used it years ago. How do I post on here ? Thanks

We have been talking about it. My girls did the Wine & Dine Relay Half Marathon in October. We are planning on trying this out when we are there in Castaway Cay this August. But, I know you can at least count on 3 or 4 in our group. It will depend on if we can trust Grandpop with both grandchildren. He's as much of a "kid" as they are. Both daughters and my son-in-law are doing the 2nd Wine & Dine Half this October.

I am not familiar with the Castaway Cay 5K. Is that what they call the sprint to get the best beach chairs? ;)
LOL
It can feel that long when running in that sand sometimes. LOL

I totally read this going uhuh uhuh, I'm following ya, yeah yeah.....
and then NO IMAGES WITH THAT POST? *faints from shock* LOL

Yeah- If we go, we are going the week before. I think the fireworks would be great on the 4th but not willing to brave it.

They are really a sight to see - but the crowds are horrible. We've done it a few times over the past 25 years, Dave and the girls think it's worth it. Me, on the other hand, can do without the crowds.

Very true.
Eldest dd learned that rather quickly on the PC cruise. I'm gonna have to remind her how many "children of my friends" are gonna be on this cruise as well.... I'll have eyes all over. (Please do report to me untoward behavior of any sort, from any of my children. I DO want to know... srsly. for real)

I definitely noticed a slight decline in service on the Wonder. But I don't think it was all DCL's fault. There were so many first time cruisers who just didn't know better. And then others who just didn't care because it was such a short cruise.

I would suggest requesting Marlon from Costa Rica. He was really great. We were sitting with Desiree who had him on the PC cruise and requested to stay at his table to for the 2 day.

I ran into Robert a few times on the TA but he was always behaving. Not sure if it was because he saw me coming and knew I'd report back or if he just really wasn't doing anything bad, LOL.

Just a note, we seem to have gotten the *Last* Cat 10 cabin for our cruise. I'm hoping the "Porthole" is as cool as it sounds...

Will let you know in March. We have an 11C.
