Hi all, long time lurker here...starting to post more as of late:flower3:

I thought I would post my first PTR and see what you all think of our upcoming trip in June

31st May- fly into LAX with V Australia (premium economy yay :goodvibes)
Get a conecting flight to Salt Lake City

1st June -drive to Yellowstone national park (hoping its not going to be too long)

1st -6th June- tour/ hike around Yellowstone

7th June- travel to twin falls

8th June- travel to lake Tahoe

9th June- travel to San fransico to Muir wood national park

10th-12th June- travel to Yosemite and tour/ hike

13th June- travel to DL :goodvibes we have 7 days to spend in the parks and a
fews days at the outlets

20th-21st June- Move over closer to LAX to spend the last days trying to cram all
shopping and spend the last of our money

So what do you all think?? Hoping the driving won't be too bad for DH. This trip is a belated honeymoon/10 year anniversary for us....and it is the longest we will be WITHOUT our 3 kids. I'm just counting down the days(months) now :yay::yay:

From a fellow Brisbanite welcome. Can't offer much advice as Yellowstone/Yosemite are on my list but haven't been there but we love hiking too. I am sure lots of others here will give you helpful tips! Driving in the US is really easy-the roads are so good especially outside busy city areas so I am sure your DH will find it OK. Is this your first or a repeat visit to DL? and how old are the kids?

Hi BrissyMum,

Your trip sounds awesome. I'm already looking forward to the Trip Report.

6 months ago, I had a trip very similar to yours planned. On the exact day I was planning on coming home to book my flights and Yellowstone accommodation, a work colleague bragged to me about his Disney cruise (something that was also high on my bucket list). One thing lead to another, and before I knew it my plans had completely changed.

But I'm still obsessed with the idea of getting to Yellowstone NP and Grand Teton NP at some stage. Before changing my plans, I'd even bought books and DVDs on Yellowstone. Have you seen the BBC documentary? It's brilliant. I got the bluray quite cheaply off Amazon UK.

Are you staying inside Yellowstone? I was shocked by how far in advance the accommodation starts booking out.

Have you seen this guys photos? They're beautiful and really inspired me when I was planning my trip.

My kids are 10,8 and 4. This would be my 5th trip to DL. My DH thinks in insane, but it's my happy place, and we have never been with out the kids:goodvibes

Just edited the first post.....duh this is the longest we will be gone WITHOUT them

We had to book our hotels in the park before we could book our airline tickets....we booked exactly 1 year out at 3 o'clock in the morning, as that's when the rooms were released:rotfl:

We are staying at Mammoth hotel for 3 days, then down at the Lake hotel for 3 days.

I have booked a tour with a local guy who is going to take us all around the park one day, and then on a back country bear hike the next. I find the park very big and overwhelming and this way we can get some idea of it before we are by ourselves. The no TV and no Internet thing is going to make for an interesting week:crazy2:

They way I see it DH gets a week a Yellowstone and I get a week at DL/ shopping so it all works out.

I just picked up a documentary on Yellowstone last week....it really does look amazing.....

Not really sure if I could cruise....but if we were ever going to to it, I would be trying for a Disney cruise too

Sounds wonderful. I went to Yosemite a long time ago and I have very special memories. You will love time alone with hubby. You will miss the kids and expect to spend money on guilt presents. DH and I have now done two trips without our girls and we are so glad to have done them. Happy Anniversary

Hi Brissymum!

What a way to come out of lurkdom! I had a look at your itinerary and admittedly, I had to google a couple of places to get my bearings. It all looks fabulous! I hope you'll continue to share your trip details with us especially the photos.

I'm curious to know where you usually stay when at DL and if you've changed it up because you don't have the kids with you?

We always stay at the Fairfield Inn. We will be staying there this time too. I did look at staying at the Grand Californian hotel for a more grown up stay...but those prices are crazy to me, and I would feel kinda weird staying at the DL hotel without kids :confused3

I am going to learn how to posts pic.....the Aussie board is so friendly:goodvibes

welcome!!! i am also in lovely brisvegas!

your trip sounds amazing, and thank you for coming out of lurkerdom to post. can't wait to hear all about it.

we had a 2012 trip that was going to be just us and i could only justify staying onsite at disneyland for 1-2 nights, the rest of the time we were planning on staying at desert inn & suites.

now for our 2013 trip, we will only be staying offsite :)

can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip :)

Wow, your trip sounds gorgeous - lots of calm and lots of crazy!!

I have a problem though, every time I read the word "Yellowstone" I think "Jellystone"!! Sounds like I might need a holiday without the kids too!! ;)
