June 2011 No Buy Thread- Keeping our summer spending in check

Just a quick post so I won't forget. I am toast this month. We've been constantly eating out and why on earth did I order more ribbon? Ribbon is my crack. But I'd still like to track if that is ok. Maybe next month I can set goals and stick to them!

Today I bought gas for $33.30. I also bought 22 awesome items at the consignment store for $32.85. 9 of those pieces were resale items. We also ate lunch out for $3.56 (darn you big mac meal $3.25 promo!) and I bought bleach, cat food, drinks and a bag of chips for $22ish? I will have to look up the charge when it comes in.

Um ya, I am going to have to do better! Yesterday I know we ate BK in between gymnastic lessons. Then I bought stickers for $1.08 and like $35 in crafting stuff for my biz. Today I bought breakfast for $2.19, a coke for $1.25 and $430ish in more biz supplies.

So this month is going to be a tracking month a guess because I've blown it out of the water.

I'm back! My friend left yesterday. I am not going to go looking for my last post, so I'm just going to start over here. I'm going to include gas in with the other point of sale transactions. I'm aiming to stay within $500 for groceries, eating out, gas, and miscellaneous.

Welcome back!!

Just a quick post so I won't forget. I am toast this month. We've been constantly eating out and why on earth did I order more ribbon? Ribbon is my crack. But I'd still like to track if that is ok. Maybe next month I can set goals and stick to them!

Oh my gosh, I totally know what you mean about eating out and ribbons! McDees is just SO cheap. And whenever I see all kinds of ribbons, my head just SPINS with ideas for what to do with them, it's so hard to resist.

Charming, you're doing wonderfully on your $0 days!

Ok, so I was hoping for a $0 these last two days, but no go. It's hard when you live alone and am only in another city for 2 days...buying groceries just doesn't seem worth it. I should pack food for when I come in here...

I'm planning a trip for New York at the end of August. As much as I want to see Wicked, it's so hard to put down that $200 for 2 tickets right now. If I don't, the ticket prices will just go up!

Well, I have completely not been tracking...but I am pretty sure we are under budget for groceries! I will try to figure things out over the weekend and get a sense of how we did compared to our budget. So far I don't have any work for the summer (or the fall, actually!) but that means no daycare expenses, and DS' two weeks of day camp (one in July, one in August) are all taken care of. We have passes to Six Flags and memberships at the museum and the zoo, and we'll be doing the Kids Bowl Free program. So I think we're in good shape!

We'll be taking the first of three separate two-night camping trips next week. Hopefully we can keep costs down for that as well.

Will try to tally up soon...hope all are well! :goodvibes

I totally understand. The Lion King show will be playing here in August/September, but as much as DH and I want to see it we just can't spend the money to buy the expensive tickets and still be seated way in the back.

Last day of school with the students! Only 2 and a half more days of work before summer vacation! So tired though, I can't even be excited about it. :surfweb:

And then it was back home in bed for most of the day.
06/13 $46.00 at Costco. $20 of it for grub killer, $10 for dinner. (love the chicken bakes. Plus, I was being lazy). The rest was for milk and stuff. This is the cheapest I have ever gotten out of Costo's. but, then again, I left my DH home. lol.

:surfweb:

There's also a Dismeet for Mary Poppins here in December. The prices are pretty ok, but it's in the back. I don't mind the mezzanine section, but again it's putting down that much money...It's not easy!

Oh, so the kids are out of school. I guess the malls are going to be more crowded now....yeesh.

Sorry I haven't been around. :( End of year busyness, moving classrooms, stress with kids-both at home and school. I'll be more active in July. ;)

As far as the broadway shows go, you might wanna look into season subscriptions. We get season tickets and there are usually 5-6 shows per season. The price for the two of us is $300. So, season's where there are 6 shows it only ends up being $25/show. The past couple of seasons I have actually sold one set of tickets for around $100. So we see 5 shows for $200. I might be worth looking into if you like that kind of thing.

From our subscription we got to see:

Spring Awakening
The Color Purple
Xanadu
Working
Wicked
Mary Poppins
Les Miserables
Next to Normal
Rent
Fiddler on the Roof
The Addams Family
Phantom of the Opera
A Chorus Line
Grease
Hair

It is a great date night as well!

My eating out is so high, because my father in law was here with his wife and they are always wanting to eat out, but we pay dutch style. I wish it was more like they wanna eat out and they treat us, but nope. At least they went home now, so we can return back to around $200 a month.

I have a few gas gift cards and restuarant gift cards and some grocery catalinas. Hoping this will tide me over til July!
