June 15, 2012 - 2 Night Getaway on the Disney Magic from NYC!

I had a good thanksgiving, ate a lot of good food and tomorrow I see my favorite band, The Early November play at Starland Ballroom. :goodvibes

I just got done bookig this cruise for me and the hubby. The kid stays home, as I can see is the case for lots of people on this ship.

I am super excited, we are driving up from DC to take this cruise and although it is pricy per night compared to the 3 night, it's a bargin when you add airfare and transportation to the terminal.

We are celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and this is perfect timing since we were looking for a cruise to get our gold status on before once cruise on the fantasy.

Can't wait!!!!

Welcome aboard and to our thread! :)

We are under the 200 mark people! 199 days to go!

Count us in for this cruises with no kids:thumbsup2 I just booked it last night. My DW doesn't know, I figure it maybe a christmas present.

Are you planning on driving or flying down? Just wondering, we too are from Southern Ontario and I have been tossing the idea around for DH 40th b-day and our 10th anniversary. Not sure about the transportation part of it, we would be leaving our 3 girls at home!:rolleyes1

So far, it looks like this is shaping up to be a low kid-count cruise. Lot's of Mom's and Dad's planning a reduced-guilt ('cause it's only 2 nights) getaway. Looking forward to a lively Quiet Cove crowd!

does anyone know of a good, not overly expensive place to stay the night before the cruise??? :)

What's your budget? How long are you planning to stay? Sightseeing?

Does the hotel have to be in the Times Square/midtown Manhattan area (near the port)?

What about NJ?

If you're driving down do you need a hotel with parking? Or if you're flying in, what is your arrival airport?

We would probably be driving down in the Thursday from Ontario, just a place to stay before the cruise. I guess near the port would be good, but I am open to anything really. I am a total newbie!!:confused3

Hi all

Signing in to the thread. Just found it. We booked last year. It will be me and my DW. We will be leaving DS at home with grandma and enjoying a great getaway weekend! Can't wait to get our Disney fix without the airport involved!!

You might want to consider these two hotels in NJ. Ask about parking while you're on the cruise. They're both on the Hudson River and have access to the NY Waterway Terminal. Since it's only a 2 night cruise (and it's only two of you) you could probably manage your luggage on the ferry and take a cab from the ferry terminal to the port (about one mile).

Hi all!
Though I haven't booked this yet...I'm planning on booking next week. Hopefully the availability and pricing I got late last week from our TA won't change too much (or be cheaper) :lmao:)

Anyway, June 15th is DH's b'day and originally I was going to take him up to Niagara Falls for 3 nights, but I had forgotten about this cruise and decided to do this instead! It's more expensive, but we've had a very rough year (I've been out of work for a year) and I just started a new job on Nov. 14th. So, the way I look at it, I deserve some fun too.

I don't know if we'll do the FE as we did it for our cruise last year and although we loved it, I spent a lot of $ and right now we're just getting back on or feet...

I have a question...I'm wondering if anyone knows how early we can board the ship? Is it the same boarding procedure as FL? I know we'll be on the late dining (if we get a choice).

And no...we have no kids. Only furbabies! :goodvibes

I also hope there will be fireworks, but am not holding my breath on it.

I'll let you know when it's official and I actually have us booked!

Lori

welcome aboard! If you would like to be part of the fish extender group please send me the following information:

I post a link to a google doc with the full list regularly (maybe I should just add it to my signature....)

if we don't have a lot of intrest for FE (its tough with all adults) maybe we could do SM (Secret Mickeys)

not sure if anyone has started secret mickey's yet. I am guessing that since this cruise is mostly adults the gifts may reflect that.

Hoping for fireworks, too!

Welcome, hope you decide to book!

Secret Mickey is like having a Secret Santa
So you only have to buy for one other cabin and you can really personalize the gifts.

I saw this explaination on one of the other cruises thread.

This works along the same idea as a Secret Santa. Each participating stateroom will be matched with another stateroom, and the idea is to buy or make a gift or gifts, with a total cost per cabin of no more than $25. The gift (s) can be one big joint gift for all those in the stateroom, or small individual gifts for each person. The gifts can be left in the FE during the cruise, or you can have the room attendant put the gift in the room. You should have a tag/card that designates it as a gift from their Secret Mickey.

At the farewell lunch you can reveal yourself to your Secret Mickey recipient. If you do not plan to attend the lunch, it might be a good idea to reveal your identity by popping a card in your recipients fish towards the end of the cruise.
