June 14, 2009 WONDER-ful cruise

Is anyone going to dress up for Pirate Night or decorate their cabin door?

We will dress DS up and DH and I will probably wear pirate t-shirts and accessories.

I definitley want to put something on our door.

I would like to do a Fish Extender Exchange. Anyone interested?

I'm in. I just got to figure out how to make one of those things.

Has everyone gotten their pre-cruise packets?

I have (but you already knew that, didn't you DB).

We have used FL Tours (who is also a sponser on this site) our last two trips and had orginally intended to use them to get to the boat this time before we decided to drive, and found them to be very good about picking you up when and where you ask....I know they have vans but I don't know how they would handle 12 people...they may have a mini bus

Thank you - I'll check with them!!:wave2:

Hey, My family and I are on this cruise, too. I will be cruising with DH, DS(13) DS(10) and DS(5). We are celebrating DS fifth birthday. We have cruised before but are first time DISers. We are interested in the fish extenders. Thanks, looking forward to sailing with you.

Welcome Aboard, Teems Family! Have you cruised DCL before? I'd love to know what you thought of it. We are really getting excited.

I cruised on the Wonder this past summer and am returning again on 6/14/09. I will be happy to answer any questions.:cool1:

Hi debroche - question - would the DH feel "underdressed" not wearing a tux and or/even a suit jacket to the dressy more formal meals or even to a meal at Palo? Can he simply wear suit pants, a tie with/without jacket? I guess my major question is, even if the dress code states that he could simply wear a suit/tie with/without jacket would he feel way underessed in the end making for an uncomfortable experience??

Also, the same question goes for my 9 year old DS and 8 year old DD. I've seen postings with children wearing what looks to be possibly wedding party type of attire. If my DD comes in a simple summer type of dress and my DS comes in typical pants and a collared shirt would we feel that our children looked out of place??

Also, can someone post details on what the fish extender is and what all we need to make/buy/bring? I want to participate but need to make sure we're prepared:-)

Lastly, yep I received my welcome packet but it was titled "My Cruise Travel Kit". I was just so excited!pixiedust:

There is a metal fish on the outside of your stateroom door. Cast members use this to place notes for you or your room. You can hang anything from a paper bag to your own custom made extender to exchange small gifts and trinkets with your fellow cruisers.

You can also buy one on e-bay. Search "fish extender".

Gollal:

Last summer we followed all of the rules for dinner ... long pants instead of shorts, dress/sports coat for dress-up nights, and the same for Palo. There were times when we felt overdressed compared to the other diners.

During normal dining nights, almost everyone was dressed in very casual dress, including shorts and t-shirts. At Palo, people were dressed up, but many men were not wearing jackets or ties and some women wore pants.

At the dress-up dinner night, my husband and 12-year old son both wore suits. There were other men with suits on, but few children. I probably won't pack a suit for my son this year.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

It's getting closer! We are in 6088 and 6089. I'm open to doing fish extenders also. Is anyone going to WDW after the cruise?

I just made the final payment on our cruise through DU and the countdown is at 99 days. Woohoo! :cool1: :yay:

Congrats on your reservations! We want the Palo brunch, but can't book until 75 days, so we may be out of luck.:sad1:
