Jumping, Dancing & Jamming Our Way Through Walt Disney World! I'm With the Band Now!

Please, please, please post the video if you find it. I would love to see it.

Good news about your Mama's ultrasound. I hope they get her fixed up when she goes back.

Glad that it seems like there was nothing wrong on the ultrasound of your Mama's neck!

Hope the rep calls you back and the price does not jump up from what she quoted you.

Before I work on a trip report installment (which I hope to do here in a little while since it's a little slow at the office right now), I thought I'd post an update on Mama.

She had the ultrasound done on her neck yesterday and, although she knew the technician couldn't really tell her anything, she did ask. The technician said that, of course, she couldn't tell her yes or no if she saw anything, she could tell her that if she did see anything, she wouldn't be allowed to let Mama go. Then, she told her to have a good day. That was a good sign to us. I believe that the follow up appointment with the doctor is around the 8th or 9th of December.

Mama has a doctor's appointment with her gastro doctor on November 23rd. As I said before, she's seen this doctor for over 20 years now and he knows her medical history very well. Mama believes that he is going to tell her that her stomach ulcer(s) is/are back. When she said this, it was my opportunity to tell her that she needs something for her anxiety/worry. I believe I have mentioned before that she worries about anything and everything. I am not exaggerating! I have never ever seen a worrier (is that a word?) like her. She acknowledged that she probably does need something to help her with the worrying and said she would talk to the doctor about it.

On a lighter note, I talked with Mama last night about the figures the lady with Disney gave me. She couldn't figure out how they came up with them either but, if they are correct, she's definitely going with us next year. Well, definitely going so long as the medical issues are resolved. I put a call in to the Disney castmember that I spoke with yesterday and she said that she would confirm the figures and call me back. That was over an hour ago and I'm thinking she realizes she quoted the prices wrong and that's why she hasn't called me back yet. We shall see.

Okay, let me see how long I can keep the boss busy on other things so that I can write a Disney installment.

Lisa,
I'm with you in encouraging your Mama to ask for something for anxiety. Excessive worrying is one of the hallmarks of anxiety disorders. There are some great anti-anxiety meds out there (Ativan for one - sound familiar ;)) that will ease her anxiety without making her feel bad or goofy. Its what those drugs are there for. You might could tell her that anxiety disorder is her brain not quite working the way it should just like seizure disorder. Somehow our society makes it ok to take medicine for seizure disorder but somehow embarrasing to take medicine for anxiety. Really, it is such a shame as people who have problems with anxiety usually feel SO MUCH BETTER on medication!

First of all I'm glad things are looking good for mama and I will keep her in my thoughts for her next appointments.

John's letter was very well written. I'm sorry you just got a blah blah response and I hope you get the discount so mama can go with you. I haven't booked our vacation for June yet beacause I was waiting for a discount and today I lost my job:sad1: so now I don't know if we'll be able to go. I'm going to keep planning for it though because it gives me something to look forward to.

I loved the pictures of you with Mulch Sweat & Shears! You looked like you were having a blast. I'd love to see the video too.

I'm so sorry you lost your job Kathy! I hope you get a new, and better, one soon.

First...sorry to hear about Mama's health issues. I'm sure it's frustrating and nerve-wracking for her as well as you. Prayers that all her tests are normal!

John's letter was very well written and I think it's important that those of us who love Disney and support them speak our minds about the rising costs. Who knows what good it will do, but they need to hear from their loyal customers and start taking some action.

I hope that you do indeed get a discount for your trip. Fingers crossed!

I loved hearing about your impromptu "Rock Star" moment! It's those little things that make a Disney trip so special. It's those moments that keep us going back each year. Good for you for living in the moment and hamming it up! You only live once, right? And you'll never see those people again! ;)

Sounds like mama's carotid ultrasound was OK, so that's good news. Is she scheduled for a stress test or has she had one recently?

Oh I'll definitely post it if I ever find it. I found a couple of videos on my memory cards but they aren't of my time with the band.

I thought it was good news about mama's ultrasound too.

While the tech could not make any "real" diagnosis, the fact that she said if something was wrong, she'd have to keep her there and then telling her goodbye was a good sign to me.

I spoke with the rep at lunch yesterday and when I said that Mama's quote was much lower than our's, she said "that's because you have more people" which totally doesn't make sense if it is supposed to be a room only pin.

Mama comes from a long line of worry warts and she is one of the worst of the bunch. I think she realzes that she needs something but she is so afraid of being "out of it". Hopefully, they will give her something to take the edge off.

Oh No! I am so sorry to hear about your job lose. I'll keep you in my prayers and ask that God leads you on a path towards something even better.

The response to John's letter was definitely "blah blah". There was no real "I appreciate the letter" or "we understand" or anything. Maybe something will come up that we can both take advantage of.

I was having a good time with the band and made the best of my time with them.

Please do keep your prayers up for Mama. It sounds like all is going to be okay but we will all remain anxious until we actually hear it from the doctors.

I wasn't really surprised by the response we got from Disney. I think John is more frustrated with Disney than I am. If that's possible. He doesn't do the research as I do nor does he read the Disboards so all he sees is the bottom line. That bottom line cost is getting higher and higher until, for some, it's going to be unattainable. Like you said, though, at least Disney has heard what we have to say.

I love the impromptu moments like the one I had with Mulch, Sweat & Shears. Getting chosen for things like that is always so much fun and makes for some really great memories. I was hamming it up for sure and those people didn't know me from the man in the moon so I didn't mind that I looked like a complete nut job.

She did the stress test and the doctor said everything looked great...especially for a 77 year old woman. She is supposed to see her gastro doctor on the 23rd of this month and has a follow up with her cardiologist somewhere around the 8th of December.

Hi Lisa!:goodvibes

I'm finally all caught up! Yay!:yay:

Loved your pictures in Epcot! I'm so glad you enjoyed Coral Reef. Those dessert pictures looked yummy!

Congrats on the new car!!:woohoo: Great picture of Hunter with Darth Vader!:thumbsup2

I'm so sorry to hear about the medical issues with your mama. It sounds like it was a good sign though that the technician let her go.:thumbsup2

Aww...loved your last update!! It looks like you had so much fun at DHS!:goodvibes

Coral Reef is one of my favorite restaurants. We aren't real adventurous eaters so it's nice to find a place to eat where there's something for everyone on the menu.

I am loving my new car! I may not say that once the first car note hits though.

Love you dancing, singing, etc... with the band..How fun!! :thumbsup2

I would say have Disney apply the discount to your reservation, if something does come available that would save more money, you can always have that applied to your reservation!

Also if it is a % off room discount then its a % off the room price before taxes...so I dont know if you thought about that with the quotes they gave you!

I did have a lot of fun with the guys. You know that we have no problem getting out there in front of folks and having fun!

I'm thinking that, if Mama says she is going, we are going to go ahead and book the packages. Well, I actually already have a package but I'll have them modify it using the pin code. If Mama's rate goes way up, then she's not going so I won't be able to use the pin.

My boss seems to be running late today so I'm going to write a little something something while I am waiting on him. I was dropping hints like crazy yesterday that we should close today for Veteran's Day but he didn't pick up on it. Or, he could have just been ignoring me which is probably the case. I mean, what the heck can a law office do when the courthouse and post office is closed? Duh! Oh well, at least we close up at Noon today.

**********************************************************

John called just as Mulch, Sweat & Shears was loading up their equipment. Lacey and Hunter both went on and on about how crazy I had acted with the band and how funny it was. This was one time when John wished he had gotten up early and joined us in the park. Oh well, maybe next year. He said he was up and about and was going to start getting ready to meet us. We told him that we were getting a little hungry and he said for us to go ahead and eat without him and he'd be there later. We weren't sure if Mama was going to come at the same time as John or wait until later. John was going to call her and they would decide.

We decided to stop and see how long the line was at Star Tours before finding something for lunch. Picture of the queue which, surprisingly, wasn't long so I didn't get many pictures other than those right before the line slowed down.

I don't know about you guys and gals, but I absolutely loved the revamped Star Tours. The 3D effects were awesome and, even though I missed the old Pee Wee Herman talking pilot, the new show was great! We left the building with Hunter jabbering on and on about the effects.

We wiggled our way through the Star Wars Weekend crowds and made it to ABC Commissary. This used to be one of our favorite counter service restaurants until a few years ago when the food quality and service went down hill. Since we hadn't given it a try in a while and the line was virtually non-existent, we decided to give it another whirl.

I wasn't super hungry and neither was Lacey so we decided to split one of the burgers. Hunter ordered a burger as well. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the burgers were and the shrimp on top were crispy and not greasy at all. The sauce that they had on the burgers wasn't the greatest but we scraped it all off and added our own condiments. I ended up eating just the shrimp since neither one of my kids like them.

For dessert, we got two Darth Vader cupcakes:

I hate to say it but we were disappointed with the cupcake. It looked like it was supposed to have a gooey chocolate middle but our's was maybe the size of a dime and the rest of the cupcake was pretty dry and crumbly. Oh well, at least we tried it. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and will put it back on our Hollywood Studios counter service meal list.

**Up next: Meeting a true Hollywood star!

I'm so glad to hear you say you loved the new Star Wars. I am really looking forward to riding it in December. I think its going to be my new favorite ride.

Glad mama also has a cardiology appointment lined up. :thumbsup2 Hoping for good news on all fronts!

Lisa thank you for the kind words about my job, I hope I find something better too!

We love the new Star Tours also. That cupcake sure did look like it was going to be good and moist. Your not the first person I heard say they were dry and not good.

Looking forward to more!

Great couple of updates! That's awesome you got picked to go up on stage with the band, you did look like you were having a great time! Definitely would love to see video if you ever find it.

Glad the news about your Mom is good so far, hope to get more good news soon.

So sorry to hear about all of the medical happenings with Mama - that's great that her test seemed to go well though! I hope she continues to get good news! :goodvibes

Your groupie story with the band is awesome - you definitely look like you were really hamming it up there! I've never seen these guys out and about, but they look great!

I can't wait to try the new Star Tours - it looks so good! (Although I'll avoid any Star Tours themed cupcakes...:sad2: hahaha)

Just caught up on your pictures. I am even excited now to see the new Star Wars queue. I didn't realize it was different!

I am so glad your Star Tours experience went better than ours! :) I really liked the new queue and the effects were so good...I must agree!!!

I have so many bad things on all of the CS places at DHS that I avoid them like crazy!!

Hi, Lisa. That pin business is super confusing. Hope it works out for mama, at least, so she can go back. John's letter was a masterpiece - sorry it didn't get more of a response.

My mother was a huge worrier, just like yours. She would start worrying about something and then couldn't get it off her mind. When she came to live with me, the doctor put her on prozac and it was amazing the difference it made. It didn't completely stop her from worrying, but she didn't get hung up on everything like she did before. So it wouldn't hurt to try an anti-depressant. That is a less mind-changing option than an anti-anxiety drug, I think.

Hope you are having a nice weekend. :goodvibes

Sadly, Star Tours is one of those rides I avoid. Anything that is a simulator tends to play havoc on my stomach. My boys like it though! I'm glad to hear you like the revamped version...I'll pass that along to the boys for future reference!

We only went to ABC Commissary one time...our 2007 trip. We weren't impressed and have not gone back. It's good to see that maybe we can add it back to the list!

We loved the new Star Tours too...we thought it was great!

I'm glad your meal was better at ABC than in the past. We have sworn off all CS's at the Studios, and usually eat something at our resort.
