So it's getting harder and harder to find a time to vacation (school and sports)--so we now have a small window in July. I know it will be hot and we have never gone in the summer months for that reason!

So for those of you who do go in summer--tell me the PROS! I know the cons are most likely crowds and heat! If you have other CONS please tell me as well.

Also thinking we want to do a few days at Universal (big Harry Potter fans) and maybe even a day at SeaWorld!

My kids will be 7, 10, and 13 in July 2015!

Those are the two major cons. Additionally, during July you encounter the large tour groups in matching shirts.

As far as pros, the main one is being able to go without taking the kids out of school. We have been on a summer trip to Florida every year since 2008, and although I would prefer to go at another, cooler, time of year, this works.

The keys to surviving a summer trip are to go EARLY to the parks to get things accomplished before the crowds show up. Stay on site, at Disney but especially at Universal. Do your homework and be prepared with dining reservations and Fast Pass reservations if you are using Magic Bands.

A day at a water park can be a fun break from the heat if your family is into that type of experience.

Have fun!

Well, my son's birthday is in July, and we've made the trip twice for that occasion. We've also been in August, November, December, January, February, April, May, and June. Very few months we have not hit. Plan to do October this year as he is graduating and school won't be an issue.

That said, yes, July is hot. And steamy. You definitely need sunscreen and raingear. But you will enjoy those Mickey bars and Dole Whips even more. The buses might actually feel good with the AC blasting.

Try to plan your days so that you won't be at the park having extra magic hour. The resort crowd seems to gravitate towards those. If you want to go for extra magic, park hop afterward. Go back to your resort in the afternoon and cool off.

The afternoons will more often than not bring a thunderstorm. Be ready for it. Afterward it will feel like a sauna for a while. Bring dry socks in a pack.

Try to plan your dinners for outside of the parks. You can hop on the monorail and find a less crowded restaurant.

And yes, there are many tour groups in matching shirts. And they are often rude. But believe it or not, we have also encountered them in the middle of January, so maybe they are now a fixture at the parks.

The biggest pro is that the time of the year works for you, and you will have fun no matter what!

If I've told you a lot of things you already know, I apologize :)

Enjoy your trip!
