I figure on the up side, I will be prepared for what ever Mother Nature throws at me during the princess. By the time the race comes I will have had both extremes.
Yesterday I did slow my pace a bit 14:30 pace and lowered to 30 second intervals instead of one minute. I remember someone, I think here on the DIS, asked Jeff Galloway how to combat the high temps at Marathon Weekend a few years ago and his advice was switching to lower intervals. I did this about 1/4 of the way through my workout and my pace was better, it was 15:30 at first. But I felt ok after running. I did wish I had some cold Gatorade after though, as that's saying something because I hate that stuff! Lol
Today I did nothing. Heat index was 103 today, DS17 didn't even run and he runs every day.
I'm also going to skip my long run tomorrow and hope for better temps Sunday, supposedly a cold front is coming.
Thanks for the tips. I thought I was doing the right thing last night, I'm glad I got some validation. I'm still new to the running thing so I'm not sure what I'm doing all the time.
