July 8th 2013 Wonder Alaska Cruise!

booked our flights today. Wow. sticker shock!
We were able to get one ticket with points so that helped.

Flying into Calgary and driving to Banff. It's been a bucket list destination for us for years. Convincing the kids that "nature" drive will be fun with be challenging.

Then we are driving to Vancouver, stopping one night enroute.

Thinking about the Marriott Pinnacle in Vancouver. Hope it's nice.

That's it for now. Back to planning....:)

We also booked our tickets today too! As I walk around Epcot, all I can think of is planning for the trip! We are flying into Seattle and then taking the train to Vancouver! I can't wait!

my sister and her husband have been (brainwashed) coaxed into joining our cruise. It's her first time on any cruise. Be gentle.

We booked our flights to leave at 1245pm on the 15th. I'm hoping we will make it. I did arrange for a car service so we won't have to wait in a taxi line. Someone said 3 hours was the least amount of time needed. Hope we'll be ok! :scared:

has anyone had exprience wit the train service from the pier to the airport? I'm wondering if that would be smarter on a Monday morning. Sure don't want to miss the flight. This will influence how I pack...

Okay, in 2011 and 2012 this is what the dinner attire was for our cruise:

Night 1 - Cruise Casual
Night 2 - Formal
Night 3 - Cruise Casual
Night 4 - Cruise Casual
Night 5 - Cruise Casual
Night 6 - Semi Formal
Night 7 - Cruise Casual

Menus for Nights 1, 3 and 4:

Animator's Palate: Show Dinner
Parrot Cay: Taste of Alaska
Triton's: French Dinner

Night 2 - Golden Mickey (not sure what that means)
Night 5 - Pirates IN the Caribbean
Night 6 - Captain's Gala
Night 7 - Until We Meet Again

Hope this helps some for packing. I'm going to get on another board and ask that someone from a cruise prior to ours post their Navigators so we will have more information as it gets closer.

Cindy

Is it true that pirate night is indoors?

Last year it was indoors in the Atrium :confused3 :sad2:

Anyone know if there is a character breakfast on the alaska sailing?

according to last year's Navigators they had character breakfasts on the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Hopefully I can get copies of the Navigators from someone that takes this cruise in May or June.

Hello everyone,

Hope all is going well. I see that some of you have started buying your plane tickets. :cool1:

I would like to work with everyone that wants to participate in the FEs in nailing down a day that we cut off registration so we can put together what we wish to give and so we can make sure we have the room in our luggage. :lmao:

If everyone could please think about it and get back with me by the end of this month to let me know if they are participating, if they are what their stateroom number is and when you think the cutoff should be I would greatly appreciate it. Then I will put it all down on an excel speadsheet and email it out to everyone.

Meet and Greet

What does everyone think of a Meet and Greet on day one in the Promenade? We did it on my last cruise and had a lot of fun. I've already listed it as a possibility on the webpage, I was just wondering if anyone is interested. Please let me know.

Cruise Logo

On my last two cruises we created a logo for our particular trip. Then a bunch of us made T-shirts and lanyards with picture on it so we could pick each other out of the crowds. If anyone has a great imagination and is good with graphics and wanted to try that would be great. You can check out the one from my last cruise at:

http://5-28-11-medcruisers.weebly.com/

It is a great souvenier and you can also incorporate it into your FEs if you would like.

If no one is interested, it's no big deal. Just trying to make this as fun as possible.

If I come up with other ideas or information I will let you all know.

Might take the train or try the Bolt Bus from portland... Not sure on dates/where to stay. Trying airbnb out. :goodvibes

Wow those port adventure sure are spendy! What are people looking forward to in the ports? I want to save up for a glacial tour and/or gold panning.

Also trying to get to my goal weight so I don't have to worry about all the yummy food. Anyone want to walk stairs w/ me or I can try the gym. Not sure about the weather on deck 4 for walking... I'm a wimp in the cold--hawaii gals.
How are the pools on the Alaska route? I found it a bit chilly when I did the Mexico cruise...

BTW any pin traders on here? I'll be going to the aulani shop next month :-) fun stuff out there. Any non traders who don't want their mystery pins? Lol.

Getting excited!!

I hear you about trying to slim down! Lol!

I m so overwhelmed with the port adventures! I really need to start making a list and numbering them in order of our preferences. The only thing I know we all agree on is the dog sledding but in what port do you guys think that is best?

Anyone doing Palo's? Or the brunch?

We are taking the train up for seattle as the bus doesn't let you bring luggage. We will be going up to Vancouver July 5th.

So how many platinum's , gold, and silver do we have on here? I'm gold.

Did anyone go and book anything with the new itineraries yesterday?

Hi all!

Cindy - Thank you for all of the planning and coordination of a meet! It sounds great! If possible, can the site be edited to note my 13 y.o. is a DS and not a DD. Not a big deal..except he might get tweaked when meeting folks and people say they didn't know he was a boy! hehehe!

TwingleMomFL - This will be our second trip to AK, and we did the Dog Sledding out of Skagway up on Denver Glacier. It was pricey (we booked it on our own), but WOW..a once in a lifetime experience. I would be happy to answer any questions. I think we selected doing it in Skagway because we had other plans for Juneau in mind. Pricing was so similar out of each port back then. Again, I can certainly let you know of what we experienced if interested!

:goodvibes

:) We are lowly silvers. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. Thanks for organizing meets and FE exchanges and suggesting logos. I wish I were creative or organized! I booked our whale watch in Juneau and rental car in Skagway so far. Not sure what Disney excursions we will book.
