Going crazy with finishing up all the reservations.

DH thinks, and I agree, we should take the train from DLP into England. My original plans were to rent a car and drive to Calais, drop off the car and take the ferry to Dover. But the thought of getting lost, the car breaking down, missing the ferry scares :scared1: us so now it looks like the train to England.

Anyone done this? Have to find out all about this.

Also thinking of changing hotels in London. Ours is so far from London City and the fee to go the airport is big!
We are looking at the Chancery now. Rates went down to 35,000 points from 40,000. We are currently at the Bexleyheath but think that might be too far. If we stay at the Chancery we could take in a play.

For those at the Chancery...how are you getting from the ship to the hotel? Another thought we need to think about.

Any thoughts?

Hi Denise-

We're staying at the chancery on points as well. I saw the points went down and I called to see if they would credit me back the difference to our acct. They did..15,000 pts allowed me to get 3 HOHO boat tixs from Mariott. Right now we are leaning on taking the train back from Dover into London. My BF wants to take in some sights via train. We are hiring a car service to get to Dover.

Seems like alot have just about wrapped up their planning. We just have a couple more things to do. We can't order Eiffel tower tixs until June 1st online, still need to reserve transport from the airport to the hotel and vice versa, figure out a nice place to eat in London, order my currency(trying to waiting and see how much lower the Euro will go down), print my magnets, finish up our FEs-not as many on this cruise as prior ones

Gotta go get the kids up for school. Talk to everyone later.

Hi Denise; We will be taking the train from France to London. The original plan was to catch the direct Eurostar train from DLP but for some strange reason, the train does not run on Sat :confused3 However if you are leaving any day but Sat and Tues, there is a direct Eurostar leaving DLP about 7 or 8 PM (can't remember the exact time) direct to London. You can also catch the SCNF train (high speed) to Lille and transfer to Eurostar.

Anyway... we will be going to Paris, Gare du Nord station and catching the Eurostar from there - BTW there are are several trains leaving from this station to London. I do not know what are the current price it but is seems reasonable and it takes about 2 hours.

Another thing to consider: traveling to London gain you an hour :)

Just curious when are you in DLP?

Hope this helps.

My mind is already set for this December (Maui) and next summer (the Alaska cruise).

Me too! Well, just the Alaska cruise. This December we will probably not be in Hawaii.;)

And for all of you who are panicking with trip details, heck - we just got our flights.:hippie:

Hi Din,
How have you been ? Was looking at an old picture from Barcelona and there you where! Hope the family is doing well.
We are staying at Marriott's timeshare there on points! (Marriott Village d'lle de France) Still trying to get a trade but my request has been in for over a year now. Glad we were able to book on points.

Back in '96 we were there and took the train from the station there to Gare du Nord and caught the Eurostar to London. Then we caught another train to go Birmingham to meet friends.
This time we just want to go to Dover as we are there 2 nights before the cruise at a B & B.
The trains have changed so much since then. We will be traveling on a Sunday which is another reason to change from the car route. The car rental place is closed on Sunday for drop offs. But we could still drop it off they said. (of course with an added fee)
I have to research now if there are stops before London and how to get to Dover. It's like starting over on this part of the trip. I threw all of it away. :rolleyes1 because we were driving.....
Where are you staying? We are there one week.

Do you know what's fun? and potentially dangerous?
the summer sales will be going on in London during our pre-cruise time!
Harrods, Liberty, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, etc..supposedly great savings...

joanne :)

Ok so now Chancery doesn't have openings! :confused3
I even called. They had them last night but this morning they are gone....
we will stay put then...hate when this happens....take a few hours to think it over and ZAP the room is gone....

I booked Park Plaza Thursday night with no problem.

This is with points. There was Park Plaza last night too but not now. The guy said the Sunday stay is available but not Monday....
We will just stay put....

We are well and busy as it is almost end of school. Thanks for asking.

We will be in DLP for only a few days and staying at Disneyland Hotel - DVC.

One option we considered was travelling to Dover after DLP. There is a Eurostar train that stops at Ashford - you may to change at Lille for the correct train as the Disney Eurostar is almost non-stop to London. You may have to walk across to the local station and catch the Southeastern train from Ashford to Dover. Runs about 30 - 40 mins. Let me find the link and send it over to you.

Here is the link for Southeastern: http://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/index.php/routes_stations/stations/view

Trains to Ashford International is from Paris and not DLP unless you change at Lille.

So, every day I check to see if my flight #s makes it to and from London. So, today I checked and they cancelled the LHR to SFO flight. It just says CANCELLED but doesn't give a reason. Most days the LHR to SFO is delayed by a few hours but hasn't been cancelled in a long time. It is still stressful thinking about it though.

It could have been cancelled because all airports in the UK were closed again yesterday because of the ash cloud. Plus BA cabin staff have also started a strike.

What do you mean your flight #'s are cancelled? I'm confused.
Sorry... I didn't mean to confuse you. Everyday, I've been checking my United flights 930 and 931 to see if they are delayed or cancelled. We'll be flying these flights when we go to London in June/July. So, yesterday was the first time in a long time it had been been cancelled going from LHR to SFO. There have been lots of delayed flights but not cancelled. I see now that they did close airports yesterday in London. I'll have to check to see if SFO to LHR is going today. But I guess, I really shouldn't check because all it is doing is giving me a heart attack. I'm glad I have trip insurance. I almost want to think of a back up plan just incase.

Thanks... it is harder to find closure reports now (seems like it is OLD news). Anyways, do you think BA strike will effect United? We are flying United as I was able to get 2 tickets on points.
