Just wondering what DIYers were planning for Helsinki. I can't decide between getting the Helsinki Card, which includes public transport, or doing a HOHO bus/boat combo. I do want to get out to Suomellina, and would like to visit the Design Museum. Would love to know what others are planning!

Hi everyone. Great news - we got our flight info - thanks to someone here posting about seeing theirs, I called and the DCL rep gave me our flight info, and then our TA called and got it by email for us which worked out great because I was able to go on the airline's website and add our skymiles numbers. We have Delta flight leaving ATL at 5:15 p.m. on the 2nd, arriving at Gatwick on the 3rd at 7 a.m. I thought we'd have the ATL to Heathrow, leaving around 10 p.m. and getting there late morning. With the 7 a.m. arrival, we've just gained 1/2 day in London! I think we'll go ahead and order Tower of London tix for Saturday with the option to use them any day we're there. So yay! Our return flight is on Tuesday the 20th, leaving at 1:20 p.m. from Heathrow and getting back to ATL around 6 p.m. so it's not too brutal. And we don't have to leave before dawn to get to the airport.

We're staying at the Renaissance Chancery Court, too -- has anyone compiled a list of who's staying where? Love to have a meet/greet in the lobby one day... or at least be on the look out for each other. If you're staying at the Renaissance Chancery Court, PM me your dates and I'll make a RCC list.

Anyone know anything about the Greenwich Observatory thing where the official time of the world is?

How is everyone getting from the ship to their hotels on the 18th?
Will Disney sell me a transfer if I didn't book a hotel with them?
I would only need a one way transfer.....:confused3

Flights to the U.K. have been affected this week due to the volcanic ash cloud again. DH is flying over to London later this week on business, so we are watching carefully.

We will be at the Chancery, checking in on July 3 for two nights. Then heading to Dover for Monday the 5th for that night before the cruise.

Thanks... it is harder to find closure reports now (seems like it is OLD news). Anyways, do you think BA strike will effect United? We are flying United as I was able to get 2 tickets on points.

The airports are open again, and new flight restrictions are being put in place so that planes may be allowed to fly through the cloud in places. It's all very confusing. I wouldn't have thought that the strike will affect United.

Just booked the Chancery on points for the 18th and on $$:scared1: for the 19th...there were no point rooms available for the 19th...
Called DCL and they said I can pay for a one way transfer from Dover to the Chancery but must due it thru DVC because I used points for the cruise. I was quoted $85.00 pp for one way....!!!!

They did for me, but I book through Dreams Unlimited.
Nice banner Keith!!!
Welcome to our thread....
as far as the FE goes I have never done one either. Last cruise I had some things for people I met or knew but nothing like signing up.
This should be interesting.
The thing I wanted to do isn't going to work because I couldn't find enough of them so I am going a different route...it should be fun.:woohoo:..join in!

Hi all... We booked our flights today... Leaving late night from ATL to Heathrow and retunring to ATL via Gatwick...

43 days until the flight... Man oh man...

Hi everyone! tfc3rid, that's the flight we thought we were going to have going over, but we're leaving ATL earlier and going to Gatwick.

I absolutely cannot wait for the next two weeks to get over to be done with the kids being in school so I can get serious about getting the cruise underway.

Someone at work gave me a bag of shorts for the boys - nice ones that her sons had outgrown. So I was thinking I was going to have to find some shorts for them but now I don't. They already have pants. They do need an extra pair of shoes each.

So far there are three DISBoarders at the Chancery on the night of the 3rd... us, Fivepin, and CarolAnnC. That's the day we're arriving early that day so I know we won't be heading out that night - so if y'all are interested in setting a time to have a meet/greet at the hotel, I'd be interested in meeting you all (or in Carol's case, becoming reacquainted since 2007's Med cruise).

We are planning a BBQ for some DIS friends at our home in Oxford, MA on 5/30. I know Joanne is local but anyone is welcome to join us. PM me for details!

Sure, I am up for suggestions!! Will be nice to see you and your family again, Cindy and meet more DIS'ers! :)

Anyone staying at the Chancery after the cruise? If so how are you getting to the hotel from Dover? :confused3

Cindy....
do you also have DCL transfer from the hotel back to the airport?
I got a email from the Chancery and from the hotel to the airport for the 3 of us is 135 pounds.
I was told I could purchase DCL transfer from the ship to the hotel for $85 each person. Total $255.00 !!! Wow all these little fees sure add up...
Is your fee one lump sum????
It's way more then the train but so much easier to do.
Just have to call DVC and find out if they will let me do this.

Denise, all of our transfers are thru DCL. Gatwick to Chancery to port to Chancery to Heathrow. Because we booked air and hotel thru DCL, the transfers are not a separate item. When we were looking at what it would cost to do it ourselves, we come out actually a little bit better this way plus not having to scramble to figure it out. However, we did not have airline points or hotel points to use for those parts so we would be paying cash for everything.

Hey Denise,

We have a ressie at the chancery for the 18th. We rented a car and are going to drive ourselves back to London via Hever Castle!!!! Parking the car at the hotel, and then driving to the airport on the 19th. Should make for an interesting adventure.

We are at Marriott County Hall for 5 nights from the 30th through the 5th and of course in Dover at premier inn on the 5th!!! Renting a car to drive to Dover as well. It was far less expensive, and we can go at our own pace...stopping at Leeds Castle and Canterbury on the way!!!

I am still trying to hammer out what we are going to do in ports...we didn't book any excursions...doing it all on our own. I have a list of must sees for each, but haven't figured the logistics yet.

Can't believe we are less than 6 weeks away from our adventure. DH keeps checking the earthquakes and webcam for Iceland as well as checking our similar flight number on a daily basis. Working on a contingency plan to get to Europe if our flight gets canceled. So far it has only been delayed. I am feeling it for the inaugural peeps who are 2-3 weeks out from their adventures. Fingers crossed for them to get over there ok!!!
