July 5, 2011 - Mickey's WONDERful Alaskan Adventure

Did a final print out of everything I need and put them all in a folder:

  • Cruise contract
  • Credit Card Authorization
  • Copies of Passports
  • Flight information
  • Copy of confirmation for town car
  • Copy of confirmation for hotel
  • Copy of travel insurance
  • TA's business card
  • Cruise booklet with luggage tags
  • Copy of itinerary
  • Copy of FE list
I think I got everything covered. All I still need to do is check in on Friday and print out our boarding passes.

Thanks for the list Mary! I am happy to say we have everything from your list in a stack. Does that count as being ready?

How did you get the text? Did you sign up for the character phone call the morning of the cruise?

I must have done something when I checked in on-line. Didn't sign up for the character phone call as DH does a heck of a good Mickey and he can call our 20 yo's in their room to wake them up.

The joys of having adult children. ;)

Good morning, Teresa.

I thought I signed up for everything, but I didn't receive any text...

It's wonderful you get to hear Mickey's voice on demand, lucky girl.

C U Soon, Karen

Even though I don't have a green bow, I'll try to rendez-vous with you guys at Mickey's Pool at 3:30 PM. That should be just before our lifeboat drill, I think?

Here's our ship, passing by last night...one of my photos turned out!

brilliant! I can see our stateroom! I can't believe how close she is to land so much of the time. It's going to be a very different experience than seeing islands in the very far distance in the Caribbean.

I so need this cruise. 1 interview down and 2 to go...

:scared1:

Now is the time I admit that on our previous cruises we've never missed our dinner seating. :rolleyes1

In Ketchikan our excursion is proported to be done at 7:45. If my calculation are correct this is the night that lobster tails are served.

Here is my question. Can you get the lobster if you go up to the buffet? I think I read, but didn't pay much attention since we never have eaten dinner there, that you can get items off the main dining room menus there.

The men in my family are disappointed at the thought of not getting lobster.

Teresa - can't answer the question as we've never done the dinner at BBB before. I did read somewhere on the main boards that if you talk to your serving team/head server they might be able to get you late seating for that night in one of the main dining rooms. We're doing Palo that night (since we were getting back late) so you could ask for them to find you a table for 4 and I bet they could do it.

Great suggestion!! Our servers will be lonely that night Mary :goodvibes

MiceRNice I just 5 minutes ago got another text from DCL asking if I needed transportation to the port :woohoo: I love it when Mickey texts me!

We'll also try for Mickey's Pool at 3:30. Just ran a dew last errands, I hope! - and now to finish cleaning the house. Did you ever think about how much work it takes to go on vacation? For some reason, it never bothers me before vacation, guess I'm always looking at what at the end of all the work!

I agree that trying to get away on vacation takes more work than seems worth it...until (sigh) you're on that boat sailing away...no phone, no internet, no worries, no house cleaning, just icebergs...

I've been up since 5AM preparing a final argument on a six-day trial I just wrapped. It's 5 PM and I still haven't had lunch! Bring on the Beach Blanket Buffet! (At least I'm losing weight for the cruise LOL)

....and no Mickey texts for me, Teresa. No ABD welcome package yet, either. Grrrrrr! How did your father's chemo treatment go today?

ok i cant recall the answer to this but my stepmom was asking me if there is a blow dryer in the bathroom? i was thinking there was a small one but cant recall anyone know for sure?

and dad is doing better. had a second round of antibiotics and they did not do chemo mainly cause of his platlets being low. i did let him know about the cancer survivors on this trip and he said he would be ok with a meet and greet with those who are surviviors as well.

I can't believe this is only your second post on the DIS boards~ You sound like a pro!! :thumbsup2

Hope you enjoy the boards and find yourself spending countless hours combing the boards like I do :rotfl:

Thanks for the reminder that I'm supposed to be cutting out my door magnets not reading the boards.... :thumbsup2

Well, we're no stranger to cruising, that's for sure. :rotfl2: But I have to admit I had no idea that there was an online community this large for DCL! Thanks for the welcome.

So we're finishing our packing up now, and we're planning on doing the helicopter ride/dogsledding excursion on top of Mendenhall Glacier. Anyone know how cold that part of the trip is supposed to be? Like winter coats weather or can we get by in warm jackets? :confused3

The hair dryers are not that great, I would bring my own. Glad your dad is doing better.

Last day of work and then I'm on vacation. Safe travels everyone! Hope to see you around the ship.
