July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

DH just surpised me with an early Christmas present - DCL 7/30/10 Dover to Barcelona! :cool1:

We have never been to Europe, so this is very exciting for us. We have been on DCL 3 other times to Bahamas, so we know we will love the cruise!

Add us to the List!

Welcome Aboard, what a wonderful Christmas present.::):santa:

DCL has finally opened up the CAT 12's for this cruise, if anyone is looking to save some money, now if they would just release the excursions.

Welcome Aboard!!! Where are you guys from? Europe is a wonderful place to visit or live as some of our lucky fellow travlers do. Spain is one of my favorite countries. I can't wait to explore more of her cities.

This is my first attempt at posting photos and using photobucket. Sorry about the extra large sea turtle. The diver is my husband Kurt. The one picture is of one of the port holes on the HMS Rhone. Green Boat is the ferry between Tortola and St. Thomas. The Artistocat is the day sailing snorkel boat. The rocks are the Indians a famous snorkel site. Crowed island is St. Thomas. Picture of Beautiful beach is Trunk Bay. Sail boats are docked in Cruz Bay, St. John.

ScubaMickey- I love your pictures, the big turtle is a great picture. Thank you for sharing and some day I am going to have to make it to Trunk Bay.

ScubaMickey what fantastic photos.

Watched the Time Team special on Dover Castle. They have transformed the orriginal keep into how they think it would have lloked when Henry II completed it. Their research was amazing and the whole effect was fantastic. Henry II built the castle because he was embarassed when the King of France came to visit and there wasn't anywhere decent to stay!

The documentary has changed my perspective of the castle and we are seriously considering a visit if only to see the keep.

THe above link will show pictures of the completed keep. The colour look garish but together they worked beautifully.

I am actually looking forward to Dover Castle, I have only been inside Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, and I was blown away by how ornate it was so I am sure it will be worth taking a couple of hours on the Thursday before the cruise. I imagine that a taxi is going to be our best option to get there, or is there any other options?

The girls are getting so excited about Christmas. School is out so now, they are at home driving my husband crazy already. I left out the gingerbread cookies we made yesterday with some icing tubes, so I am sure I will come home to some elaborately decorated cookies. My oldest takes great pride in her decorating and each one will be a work of art.

Are you staying at the Premierre Inn? Its details say its a short walk to the castle. On Google Maps its about a 10 min walk. I've added 2 mins to their time because its uphill and with children but distance wise its under a half mile.

Sounds like you will have fun when yu get home with all those cookies. IF I left DH and DD with cookies and icing there would be one big mess and NO cookies left! LOL

Enjoy your Holidays

Yes we are staying at the Premierre Inn still, did not realize it was so close, we should be able to handle that.

Well I am expecting a mess:rotfl2:

Seasons greetins to you also.

Hi there:

Just checking in to add ourselves to the list! We had planned to skip DCL this year in order to save money, but I just saw the category 12's pop up and we couldn't pass it up! DH is active duty military, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, as his schedule is always subject to change. But so far it's just DH (Rich) and me (Jynohn). This will be our 4th Disney cruise, but our first one without the kids!

Looking forward to planning with everyone over the next few months!

Welcome, it will be a great cruise to do without kids. I hope that your plans do not change and you are able to go, it must be hard planning when you know things can change do quickly.

Welcome Aboard!!! Thank you to you and your husband for serving in the military. My Dad retired from the USAF. Are you going to have a White Christmas? Looks like the Northeast has been getting pounded with snow. I can't wait to meet everyone on the thread at the start of the trip.

ScubaMickey

Thanks for the warm welcome! Yes, it's very difficult planning a trip so far out when we never know what DH's schedule may bring. In fact, we've already had to cancel our May 15th Med cruise because DH now has training during that week. And we had a close call last week when his command told us that the trip to WDW, that we're leaving for on Monday, may have to be cut short by 4 days. Thankfully it looks like we can go now, but it was touch and go for a while. I actually found the Dover to Barcelona category 12 rates when I was on the DCL website trying to console myself over the cancelled trips! So hopefully this one will go off as planned.

And yes, it's a white Christmas here in the Northeast! We got about two feet of snow over the weekend, and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon...

Happy Holidays to everyone!

WISH YOU ALL

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! Finally getting caught up with the Boards. I don't seem to be getting my instant notifications when people post so I don't get reminded to check in. Did book Dylan and I on the new Disney Dream ship for a July cruise -- two stops in castaway! Looking forward to the slide!!!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas, we really enjoyed it this year.:thumbsup2

I got an Ipod touch and it is great, but I made the mistake of showing it to my oldest and she loves it. I found a great Disney App so it may be a battle over who gets it on planes and waiting for appointments.

It is cold here, but I did bundle up and went to see the Olympic tourch when it was in town yesterday morning on its way to Vancounver. I will post pictures later, it was very touching to see. I did ask my girls if they wanted to come as it was at 7:00 AM and they both said no, they want to go to the actual games:rotfl2 to see it. I cannot believe there is only 3 more days till 2010, I still remember all the hupla of 2000 and it seems like just yesterday.

No excursions yet, I want to plan.:surfweb:

Good Morning,

I think that is awesome that you got to see the Olympic Torch. We are big fans of both the winter and summer games. I try to plan a theme dinner during opening ceremonies that represents the country hosting the event. Summer games in China made that easy. I will have to be more creative for Vancouver, BC.

Working in Emergency Services, New Years Eve night Dec. 31, 1999, we were required to work all night waiting for the world to come to an end. Needless to say, everything went well that long night. It is hard to believe time as gone by so fast.

Looking forward to booking the shore excurions in 2010!!!
