Oh dear we're hardcore Saints fans from Northampton and after the drubbing Tigs gave us last week I don't know if we'll be able to talk to you ;-)

Hi Tony,
welcome aboard! Agree it is a fantastic ship - and your daughter is right DCL is the best!

PS my husband is still sore from the weekend!

I haven't been on here to post in a while, apparently! Nice to see the thread picking up a little steam. February was a rough month for our family. (Dad in hospital, DH grandma unexpectedly passed away, DH got sick that weekend which never happens and he ended up in the hospital for a week with pneumonia and to cap it all off, I was driving DD2 to visit DD1 at college and 3 hours from home spun 360 on the interstate and went off the road. Luckily no other cars involved and no injuries...just car damage and a lot of inconvenience. All is well now... it was just a lot back to back to back!) March was crazy busy with the high school musical and here April is almost over.

We had some Disney excitement earlier in the month. DD2's school marching band kicked off the 3pm parade at the Magic Kingdom on Good Friday. We had decided not to go, as DD1's birthday was the day before and she wasn't on break from college yet. WDW is our favorite family place and I couldn't imagine being there on her birthday without her for her first year away from home. Well, the closer we got, the more trouble DH was having. All the parades we've seen, now DD2 will be in one and we are missing it?

To shorten an already long story, the band was leaving on Tuesday. Late Monday night, DH booked a flight for Wednesday morning and then called WDW and got a room at the same resort (AS Music). Went to bed, went to work and the hockey game, came home and packed and was gone by 5:30 the next morning and spent 4 days at WDW with the other band parents! DD1 and I are using this to our advantage. They hit all 4 parks... this cruise day at WDW is all our choosing! (of course, DD1 is also trying to push for a mother/daughter trip during the food and wine festival during her fall break :rotfl2: )

I will get back later to add us to the FE list. I'm off to a soccer tourney in the cold and rain. Hope those of you on the east coast fare well in this "spring storm" we're supposed to get. They are predicting 10-16 inches of snow here tonight/tomorrow!!

Hi Jam113 - sounds like its been a tough few months for you - up hill from here onwards!

We have finally paid the balance and started making reservations - booked palo brunch and dinner. Also booked ultimate trainer for a day at Nassua but could only get two spots - have emailed concierge to see if we can be wait listed for the third place - although trying to get my DS18 to commit to anything is a nightmare! What else does he think he may be doing.....:confused3:confused3

Not sure if we will do anything at CC or just take a leisurely trip to adult beach for a few hours - did the parasailing last time and thought it was fantastic so may do that again.

Anyone else booked anything yet?

Lorraine

I can't book until May 14--75 day mark for the newbie cruiser!
Sounds like nothing will be available anyway if you can't even get a 3rd spot now

I have 1 week until I can book our excursions, is the Blue Lagoon Sea Lion interaction still available for 4? Does anyone know if the beach is going to be open? I've heard that it was having renovations this summer.

Just checked and there is currently availability for three (the most i can check) for both the morning and afternoon excursion for the Sea Lion encounter.

Thanks! U bet my rear will be waiting at midnight to get them. It's the only things we want to do in Nausau

AWESOME... I hope everyone gets off the boat at Nassau so my travel party has the pools to themselves :rotfl:

I believe we will get off the boat to just get off the boat. Maybe stroll the straw market. But that is it. Many of the excursions are either cost prohibitive or just not possible w/ a 4yo. I would love to do the dolphin encounter, but me in a wetsuit :lmao: and I can't wear sunscreen?! I'd be a crispy critter for the rest of the trip!!!

Well the thing is I don't follow Tigers as I am from Wales, you will see me on the ship wearing my grand slam tee shirt haha

Haha... trying to get the rest of my family to commit to anything is a nightmare! People... we need to pick a park to start with. Idc what the rest of the plan is, but in less than a week, we need a starting point! Lots of discussion, but no resolution. That, and Palo. Brunch or dinner? or both? DD1 was 6 weeks shy of 18 on our last cruise and was looking forward to Palo this time, but not sure about missing one of the dinners in the MDR. I think we are going to plan for brunch and if I can get a dinner, will get one and cancel if needed.

Not sure about plans for Nassau. Originally, we were just going to get off for a bit, see about getting the passports stamped and do a little shopping. Then I started looking at some of the smaller tours. There's a glass bottom boat tour that's only 90 min which I thought would be neat. DD2 (who is not a fan of boats/ships) says why would we get off one boat just to get on another. I think it would be neat to see some of the marine life and it would give us something to do for a bit.

Dislaney, have you been to Nassau before?

I have not been to Nassau, my parents have. Based on their experiences, reports I have read, and just research, there is not much to interest my group. Not really a lay on the beach people, and since CC is the next day, no real desire to do that twice in a row. The straw market may be something to walk through, but I don't like pushy people. Come look. Buy from me. etc Just makes me feel uncomfortable.
Some of the other excursions look interesting. Would love to go to Atlantis, but there are 6 of us. $600-over a 1000??? No thank you! The kids would be just as happy swimming w/ no one around. Heck, my 7yo nephew is just so happy that there is a salad bar every day at lunch!

Okay, I was just going to warn you about the straw market if you hadn't been. I wouldn't say not to go, but just to warn the kids in advance to keep moving through it. We had an "incident" last time with a guy trying to "give" us necklaces and then asking for a donation to the schools. We kept walking but DD2 got stopped and didn't know what to do. DH just ended up giving the guy some cash so he would go away.

Agree that Atlantis is pricey. We did it on our last trip knowing it was going to be a one-time thing. I definitely think it was more worth it with teenagers... not sure if I'd feel the same if I had younger kids. If you're just using the pool, or even the lazy river, there are so many cheaper places to do that than Atlantis.

I'd definitely recommend getting off the ship just to walk to the main road. At least then, the kids can say they've been to Nassau, and not just seen it from the ship. I'm going to try and find the post with the directions to where we can get our passports stamped because I hate having an empty passport!
