July 28, 2012- MAGIC- NYC TO BAHAMAS

And gummy stuff holds up pretty well too compared to chocolate!
Every time I get paperwork in the mail from DCL, I get a little more excited... of course, gotta pay that bill soon but still exciting. There was some talk on another NYC cruise forum that they thought Disney would add a meal of some type on the Disney Park day but I think that ship has sailed! Still, we are going to have a great day in the parks. Has anyone thought about the Nassau day? We did not get off the ship on our 4 day but are thinking of getting off this time and taking the ferry over to Paradise Island to Cabbage Beach. Supposedly it is free, we would like to beach it a little but have some down time on the ship too when it is less crowded.

At this moment, my cruise has been canceled, not through DCL yet, but verbally told it was a no-go. The kids I am bringing are my sister's and as a punishment it was decided they could no longer go on the cruise. :sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

Luckily there is a month til final payment to hopefully change that around, but i have little hope at this point.

IF things are definitely canceled, someone will need to finish up the FE exchange. (and yes I have already started your lovely presents!)

I need some pixie dust over here!!!

I think we are going to do Blue Lagoon in Nassau. Not sure whether it will be just the beach day or sea lion interaction. Has anyone done either? I've read mixed reviews about the beach and nothing but good about the sea lions.

Sending pixie dust and more your way! Stuff happens! :sad2:

My kids are soo excited for this trip...I just bought my 7 year old her dress for formal night at Marshalls - Love that store... Now onto my 10 year old - that will be an interesting shopping day! What do the boys wear that night? My son is 6 - i dont need to get his a sports jacket or anything like that, right?

Last night I went onto the port excursions and I have a 10, 7, 6 year old going on the cruise..I want to swim with the dophins soo badly - its on my bucket list...But want to know what is best for my kids...Has anyone does the dophins excursions?

Anyone done the sting ray thing at Castaway Cay??

Does anyone want to coordinate a get together for all the kids on this thread to meet on the first day on the boat? I have a 10 year old daughter, a 7 year old daughter and a 6 year old son(actually turns 6 on July 28th) and would love for them to meet other kids on the boat...

The meet for the kids sounds great. Since everyone will be getting on the ship at different times and they have the life boat drill around 4 maybe after the drill in the lobby by the statue.

Shopping for the 10 year old will be an adventure. I do not really think you need a jacket for the little guy.

I still haven't told my youngest DS(13) about the trip. It's getting harder to keep the secret from him as I start to gather FE gift supplies. I have just over 2 weeks until online check-in. Have we gotten any more takers for the FE?

Hi Everyone....

We will be joining you too....I just used my DVC points to book this cruise and am beyond excited! It will be myself, my DH, and my DD5. This is our first cruise as gold members! We are hoping that Palo Brunch is available on the sea days...in the past the reservations have always been hard to get. Now to figure out shore excursions....we booked a room at the comfort inn Paradise Island to use the facilities at Atlantis. I have read a lot about it on these boards and am hoping it's as easy as everyone says it is....fingers crossed! My daughter is also excited that she is finally old enough to feed the stingrays on Castaway Cay...she has been waiting soooooooooo long to do it! What is everyone planning for their park day? Does anyone have info on the buses? DVC told me the transportation is ongoing all morning and that it shouldn't be a problem getting an early bus time or a late bus back.....I hope they are telling the truth! I want to catch the bus to and from the Magic Kingdom since I booked a room at the Bay Lake Towers for the day so we have a place to crash during the heat. (my husband thinks I'm crazy for booking this room but I'd rather have it and not use it then to not have it and wish I did....so we will see who eats crow that day.....lol:rotfl2: ).
I look forward to meeting everyone! We are going to have a great time! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

PlutoEars....

I have done the Stingray Feeding on Castaway Cay and I enjoyed it. You meet at a beach just past the family section and first someone talks to you about the stingrays.... Then you go into the water with a cast member in a group of 6 or 8...can't remember the number.... You are in water that is about thigh high....I'm only 5'3 so maybe less for you....and you stand around this white grate type of thing...once the stingray see the white grate thing in the water they know you have food as this is how they train them...the cast member will give you a piece of fish and you hold it against the grate and the stingray sucks it out of your hand....you feed them a few times and can feel them too...my 5 year old is soooooooo excited to finally be able to do this excursion! Sea life is her thing....I will tell you that all the rays are debarbed and are not dangerous. While you are in the water you will have some fish and stingrays swimming around your legs....you actually have to shuffle your feet thru the sand in case a ray is on the floor...and some rays are rather large....it's a cool thing to do and everyone I went with loved it!

As far as a sports jacket for your son....you will see a wide range of dress on formal/semi formal night on the ship....you will see some in suits, some with a tie and vest, some with a tie and some with a nice button down on...I would go with what he is comfortable in...you can get some nice family pictures on those nights but they have great photos every night....On the cruise casual nights most boys wear docker style pants and a nice shirt....

Just an FYI....The Children's Place has cute Pirate Themed shirts for boys and girls that are 7.00 and are perfect for pirate night!

We plan on being on the first bus to MK and being on the last bus back from the Studios. From what I have seen, MK will allow us in for the extra Magical Hour @ MK. I think you have to pick your bus time from the port like you do for other port adventures.

Our group is also going to feed the stingrays at CC.

Whoa you are living it up at the parks huh??? I am going to get the earliest bus to the MK that I can. I have a feeling we will be back to the ship close to dinner time. Been to the parks the last two years in August. By mid afternoon, between the heat and crowds we are done. The sting ray excursion seemed interesting, but I have a 4yo. I don't want to leave him out :(

Oh and I think all will work out for my trip! :goodvibes

Good to hear all has worked itself out.

It's been 8 years since our last trip to WDW and 6 years since DL and we are taking every opportunity to enjoy the parks while we are close.

We were able to book our excursions. We booked the 8:15 bus to the Animal Kingdom. There was also a 7:15 and a 10:15. I was also able to book a tea at Palo for Aug 2. Hope Pluto Ears and Poohbear will join me. What a group at tea- two dogs and a bear.

thanks for all the info on the cruise...

Still not sure about the stingray excursion, think my kids would not like them swimming around them...They have fed stingrays before at Sea World and a local aquariums around us...

Has anyone done the dohpins excursions?

Is it true that kids cant wear shorts at night to dinner??

Day at disney - we promised my son we would head to animal kingdom also going to try and park hop to Epcot..hopefully we can get on the same 8:15 bus with my parents to Animal Kingdom...

FYI - Happy Goofy on this thread is my mom and has me addicted to this site. HI MOM...

I noticed on the FE list you updated that Gavin is allergic to milk (that's rough!) but just to clarify, chocolate is out, right?
