July 28, 2007 - Romeancing the Mouse in the Med Cruise Reunion thread!

Hello to everyone, hope everyone is well, and looking forward to summer.

We have about 5 weeks to go now for Disneyland California and then the Magic for 15 nights through Panama and i know a few other Med cruisers will be with us.

Kids are find, both having a lot of camps with either Guides or Cubs and I am a local taxi service.

They have about 3 weeks left at school,

I had a scare a couple of weeks back, I had a bad pain in my left hand calf muscle on my leg went to the Doctors who referred me to A&E at Hospital and for four days they thought it was DVT, which could have put paid to travel to the USA this year.

In the end it was confirmed as a bad ligament strain, and just to rest it and its getting better all the time. In fact I have done a lot of DIY this weekend on thoose jobs you always put off.

I am not around much on these boards nowadays, I have been posting on the UK Doctor Who thread, the series just ended and on the REPO thread for August, but cut my posting by 95%.

A few things have happened to me on these boards, ( not here) which have made it , no longer enjoyable to post, and for example for one,the Cruise line forum, is just a completely different place, to what it was over the last 5 years, with the 'odd' poster thinking they are moderators and doing what they want. Its not just me who has noticed this or been at the wrong end of a belittling post. (I get lots of PM's on this) So wont be around much.

I have my Eastern cruise in 2009 to look forward to and hope maybe a return to the Med in 2010, but i think thats 50/50 for DCL with a return to the West coast, we can hope.

Nice to hear from you Andrew! It sounds like the REPO is our next DISmeet! It will be a fabulous trip for sure! I wish I could go but my school schedule already starts by then so I'm unable to book.

I'm sure all of us on this thread appreciated all your thoroughness and your ability to give us insider tips on the cruise and while planning excursions.
last summer. I know you are still on top of things........Lynn & Keith were telling us that there are hints that Southampton may be a home office for DCL when it begins regular service in the Med in a couple of years.

I don't think any of us will ever forget the "pirating" from last summer. I remember being at work, trying to jump on and get a pirate during my class breaks. It was so funny, especially when someone would steal it!

It's so great to hear from Dan and MaryJo as well. Sorry, Dan, I didn't realize you are on the Repo also. So I guess it's Andrew, Julie, Lynn, Laura & Dan. Anyone else?

We have a decent number of people sailing on the 7/18, Tortola cruise next summer. Along with some new friends, we have MaryAnn and Wendy from NY. Also, Lucy, a friend from a previous cruise. And "the Rents" are looking into it too.

I might prebook that while onboard just to get the discount. My goal next summer is actually not so much to take a cruise but to be in Florida during a space shuttle launch - I've always wanted to see one. Unfortunately, they don't schedule those out that far (and even if they did, they are subject to changing at the last minute). So the idea is to book something ahead, then switch over to a cruise that is before the launch (can't take one after because launches get delayed, but don't go early).

But July 18th is a nice mid-summer date, so I might as well hold that as any other when the time comes. We'll see what happens.

After just reading all these great notes, it feels like we are getting ready to go on our "famous Med cruise" again!

Thanks for the pictures, Helen. I just printed the two you posted from the Atrium on the last night. We were just talking about them and when I went to the photo album, they were not there so I went to the computer, pulled them up and printed them last week, and they are in the album now!

Great to hear from Sallie again. How nice you can talk to Izzie so often. She and Paul and the boys are so great. Sorry to hear about the surgery. Please keep us posted.

MaryJo, I think of you more than you will ever know because I use that wonderful pen almost daily and because Garry was so sure our daughter and son-in-law would be Nick with the passport issue. They are cruising with us in November. They sometimes tend to put off things, but they found out they could make an appointment for a Saturday and get their passports done so they did it and now they have them! What a relief to a worrying Dad!

JoAnn, please congratulate your parents on their 50th Wedding Anniversary for us. They were so delightful to be with. You must be re-living the cruise through your daughter's last days in Europe now. How great for her.

Andrew, great to hear from you! Regardless of the boards, your info was of tremendous help to us and we thank you for the valuable info you shared. Hope you have a wonderful trip to Disneyland and a great cruise.

Lynnise and her mother Dianne did the Panama Cruise from Port Canaveral to Los Angeles and she sent me her photos. They were wonderful so I know those of you going in August are in for a real treat. They had a submarine going through the canal with them so part of the time the web cams were shut down for security. Lynnise had a picture of the sub coming out of the water. We did the west coast cruise the last time Disney took the ship out there and we loved it. I could not get enough time off to do the Panama Canal at that time. Now we are counting days for our "Land and Sea Trip"...120 and counting!

Glad Dan found us too! Soon we will be catching everyone!

Thank you for all responses, I am looking forward to the REPO cruise just over a month now, do agree it seems the more you help the more people want to pull you down, it is mainly 1 or so, who, think they are 'in charge' of the cruise board, and have to reply to most things.

Funny, they change track, telling off a person posting new dinner rotations saying they are wrong, and when they are 'confirmed' then act as an expert with an '180' degree U turn using the persons new dinner rotation detail.

We are hoping to use some of our DVC points to stay at the Loews Rencency hotel (through conceirge collecetion) but wont no till end of Aug the points for next year.
