July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 3

Hey all - we did the name change on Friday. Since we had already booked our DS to do all the excursions with the older 2 DD and her BFF, we had to remove DS's name and insert DD's HSF. DCL told us that we would have to rebook all the excursions. I was a little TO's since I knew that several of the excursions would be sold out.

I called DCL and got the standard reply. Once you do a name chance you have to go back and save all your excursions. Well to make a long story short, I finally got a hold of a WONDERFUL agent who was able to book almost all of the exursions that Andrew had to the replacement. inus of course - Palermo and the train/tram one. Well, I told DH who had replaced me after I got a from being on the phone with DCL for over 2 hrs and I told DH - tell them not to worry about those - I was more worried about the Rome excursion. I have a private scheduled for Palermo, Naples and Pis/Florence so no big deal here. But DCL was a doll for getting this done. Course I had to insist on speaking with a supervisor once I got the standard reply - we can't do this - which I knew they could because of these boards and because they had already done this one time with one excursions I booked for DS instead of DD14. A supervisor took care of it for me.

So the morale of the story? Make sure that you always ask if to speak to a supervisor if you get the "Sorry - we can't do that" reply.

I had not thought of this. Since it looks like my ds won't be able to come (I guess getting officially hired today w/all his paper work, drug test, etc.), my brother suggested changing names and bringing my niece. There are fees to pay to change name which is the least of the problem. Airfare changes daily and is a killer and who knows where a seat available is (even though one of us adults could switch on the plane). DCL said they might/might not be taking any more kids (she is 10) and she would not be in the same age group w/my dd and friend Amy. Her passport has not arrived yet (they applied about two months ago) and now you got me thinking with this whole excursion thing.

I think the best thing is just to cancel my son and take my losses - but I did not want to come right out and say "no" to my brother and let him think I might not want her to come.

Have your passports, credit card, airline reservations all in front of you when you sit down to do the online registration. It took me about 20-25 minutes to do it all.
You guys have to remember I live on a TINY island in the Caribbean....beautiful and peaceful...but NO Walmart..which is too bad.

I live on a tiny island called Manhattan, and there is no Walmart here either . . . I ordered my fish extender online. Google "Hanging wall organizer" and you'll get a ton of choices. Of course shipping to the Caymans may be expensive, I don't know.

Hey all - on a dark note - walked into mom's house today - DD wanted to spend some time with her. Usually my mom comes out running to greet us - well all 4'11" of her that is - today she didn't she sent dad to intercept me.

Finally figured out why. DS was in the living room and they were trying to delay me so he can make an escape.

Just wondering JoAnn, they do become sensible again right?

Someday, when he becomes sensible again, we'll talk again, I'm sure.

In the meantime, I have to admit - It hurt but such is life right?

BTW, had to leave when I found that out least they see my tears. I have an image to uphold anyway, according to my mom, I'm the strong one.

So I have been repeating that over and over for the last 3 hours.

Wonder if I should put on Gloria Gaynor's I will Survive!

If the weight is greater than the lift, then the propeller will accelerate downward.

When the thrust becomes greater than the drag, the propellerwill accelerate forward.

If drag becomes greater than the thrust a deceleration will occur.

Acceleration is best explained by using Newton's Second Law of Motion.

I am sorrry Laura - please feel better. They always and will manage to hurt us. Most of us did it with our parents and from what we see or are told - they do come back around.

I read something a long time ago and saved it because it was so true. I don't remember where it is hiding of course. But it went something like this,

We spend the first 17 years trying to protect them and then we spend the next 10 years trying to kill them ourselves.

We do so much for them growing up. We want to give them everything and all whenever we can. We are afraid to say no, and when we do, we feel guilty. It takes one word or one gesture and they will hurt us - it is literally painful.

My sons have actually gotten much, much better (unless they want something and then it's now) - they are 19 and close to 22.

My dd right now is the witchy one. I cannot take her attitude, moods and rolling of the eyes much more and she is only 14. I have way too many years until she "might" change her tune.

I have one of each and both of them went through their "alien" stage. During their teen/late teen years, I really felt like I was living with aliens. They did start to become human again, eventually, and right now I actually LIKE them. Stick with it and eventually it will get better. Anna put it a lot better than I could.
