July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 2

I would expect your reservation shows a transfer: airport to port. So you would find the Disney greeters at the airport and they'll get you to the ship. You would do the check-in at the port which, according to the reports I've read, goes remarkably smoothly.

TY, that is what I was expecting to happen........

If we can then drop off our luggage with DCL.........maybe we can take a taxi to Las Ramblas for a little bit before we check in since we'll have a few hours to kill..........

What I'm hoping to do is to go to HRC to meet a roommate of my DD20 who's living in Barcelona this summer.....I guess it's a risky plan but I'm hoping we can pull it off........and get some SBx of course!

Does anyone know if this plan will work from previous cruisers?

My mom pitched a fit today. I don't know what to do. My brothers and I had a conference call to all discuss together. She started screaming at my brother at the top of her lungs "I HATE IT HERE" over and over and over again. My borther just left her alone. So we all decided to go against the doctors orders and have my brother take her back to her house. I may never speak to her again...she has tried so hard to ruin my vacation.

My brother went and told her he was taking her home. She said okay, maybe in a week or two.....I know she is crazy now.

Daniel is sick....I thnk he has strep throat. We are taking him now for a test and hopefully to get some meds.

Vacation is not supposed to be like this....

JoAnne, I did what you suggested and it was pretty self explanatory. It is DisneyCruiseReport.blogspot.com . IT is mostly for Lilly and Daniel but anyone else can read it if they like. I can't say that it will be very entertaining, we're not known for our writing abilities.

Well, I'm off to start moving Lilly into Grandma's house. THen buy more transfer paper for my Tshirts and ink for the printer. THen I will be printing our our door decoration. I had hoped to get more than one but at the rate I'm going it could be just a Post it note. Hopefully the FE gifts will also be done tonight. Tomorrow is a pedicure and body polish (So my pale white skin won't blind anyone in the bright Med. sun).

I am not trying to get personal - just curious since your trip is so close.

Are her senses/mind there? She might be playing you so you feel guilty. Could she be doing this as a last resort to get your attention? Does she usually get her way? Again, I don't know her/you personally - but curious if you think this could be a possibility. If it is, she will be okay when she knows you are not here. I know one of my sisters and my only brother always and I mean always give in to my dad to please him and get his way. As he has gotten older it makes it more difficult for all of us or for any of us to talk any logic to him when he is determined about something.

Not trying to butt in - I feel for you - it must be hard. Please hang in there for your sanity so you can take even better care of her once you have your energy back.

It sounds to me, like your family needs to get additional support in handling this situation.......it might be that it is too much to deal with at home........Please don't forget that this is a trip of a lifetime........I know that it's not as important as your mother's wellbeing, but, you really deserve a break!

Lisa I'm so sorry that you are having issues with her right now. I know what you mean though. There is always something going on for us. If it's not one thing, it's another. when you try to step back and do something relaxing, it can't be.

First it was Jon's mom, now it's my grandmother. Right about chapter 35 I get a phone call from my mom. She was driving from Montana to Olympia to be with her mom on her death bed as they are putting it.

Of course work is no help either, another major 'project' just came up and the developers want me to be the lead on it. I said no way, I am not stressing about this on my trip. If they want me that bad, they need to move it until after Aug 13th. Sadly - that is just what they did.


Dan - i am trying to catch up, but I am still about 100 pages behind. I too agree though - great book. Couldn't put it down.
Question though on the pdf - I can't seem to load it. I wanted to save it off so I an print it.

Okay, on to the tales of the passport.....

If you've been following this saga of mine, the last we had was that the passport was not delivered on Saturday, and so I had asked them to hold it at the FedEx office and we would go get it. The agent put it in the system to hold - great.

Nick left here for his two-hour drive to San Diego. He called me shortly after 10am to tell me that....

.... the passport was not there, and would be delivered before 3pm.

This is where the smiley falling to its knees and lifting its tiny fist to the heavens would be really appropriate ... but for now, I have to use ... but, image a tiny smiley raising its little smiley fist.

So, we've been checking online for status, and Nick has been sitting by the front door waiting....

No the food shopping for DD is not done!
No the grab bag isn't done, and at this point probably won't, something has to give!
No the house is not clean!

No the TShirts aren't done!

THis is pure guilt for leaving Lilly for 2 weeks. She wants to go to the beach so I take her. I just won't sleep for the next 2 nights. Then maybe I'll sleep on the plane.

Laura - This vacation will give you rest, relaxation and more patience to deal with all you have at home. Try to stay focused on the vacation- mom will be fine and you will be much better off after lots of memories, rest, and of course laughs!!!

I needed to get done as I'm still working full time and I don't finish till late Thursday and my DH has just informed me that we need to leave the house at 3:15am Friday morning So if I nod off during dinner at the 4Gats or snore too loudly through the magic fountain show at least I have a good excuse as I don't have a long transatlantic flight to sleep on AND I'm expected to go to the Nou Camp when we arrive in Baarcelona

She's probably afraid of you leaving and worried that something might happen to you. Think of it as a temper tantrum a child throws before their parents leave them with a sitter to out to dinner. They want to feel like they are in control. The hardest part is realizing the parent we love has become a contrary child. This is part of the process that we have to come to terms with in our own mind - saying goodbye to what our parent was and hello to who they've become. I think it's really important to not take this tantrum personally (hard I know, but you can do it) and know that she will be taken care of by people who love her while you are gone. You would not be doing anything for her that they cannot do. Also know that you will have to deal with this when you get back so look at this vacation as a mental health break. Try your best to really block it from your mind and enjoy as much as you can. That's what I am going to do.
