CRYSTALPALACE.jpg

The hotel is situated near Plaça Catalunya and Passeig de Gràcia.
Instructions: Take Highway Castelldefels, follow straight on direction to Barcelona. Straight on you will get Gran Via Corts Catalanes main street. Go straight on until Passeig de Gràcia Street and get second lane up. Turn left on the first street you found, it is Diputació Street.

Hi -
Sorry I did not reply earlier but I’ve not been feeling too well today.

First things first

The restaurant is located on Montsio. If you start @ Placa Catalunya. Then walk down Ave portal de l’angel (this runs sort of parael to Las Rambas) Montsio is on your third street on you left.

Hi all,

I just wondered what your family , partners, significant others think about the dis - I'll share what Dave and I talked about last night.

You know some of our friends say that I make up for Daves shyness - but I really dont know what they mean????:confused3
I do not have any SO's (not since I divorced back in '92), but I've been a part of the DIS since '99, and have been to meets since 2000. I do refer to things I learn on the DIS, or discussions I participate in, often to my family & friends. At least I do not get that glazed over look anymore. They know that this is a part of my life. The first time I met someone it was at Disneyland & I was really nervous (judyfromboise & her family). We had such a great time that my kids wanted to go back the next day & meet up with her & her family. Some of the BEST times we have had at Disneyland was due to meets & repeat meets with friends we had made on the DIS. A friend of mine (DumboOrBust) has a husband who is kind of shy, and she told me that he was able to relax & actually enjoy himself at our DISmeet. The nice thing is that everyone is open, and no one is pushy - at least at the meets I've been to. I've become friends with several DISers, including Tink33 (some of you may know her from the WB PC cruise last year), and we get together now to compete at the MouseAdventure Game held at Disneyland twice a year. Anyways, before I go on & on (I could blog this ;) ), my kids have met fellow DISers since they were 11 & 10, and enjoy our meets & get-togethers, especially my dd, Kelly. She got to meet WMRegina last year, and thinks she's the cat's meow. (My dd loves cats). :goodvibes Okay, I'll stop here.

I am the planner in the family. "We trust whatever you decide, Mom." The funny thing is, when I do not plan, the kids are at a loss what to do. :lmao:

Helen

We will be on Cruise 18th July until 28th July 07 and I don't have laptop so I will write trip report and put photos too when I get home. Look like we cross over on 28th July!! Scottishwee35:yay:
Nice to "meet" you. Have a great cruise! We won't be able to read your trip report before you go, but I hope you have a lot of fun adventures that you'll just have to share with everyone.

I do feel fortunate to be on this particular cruise, as it looks like this is going to be a fun a group of people as I could hope to meet.
Totally agree.

I hope it's warmer tomorrow - my daughter and the cheerleading team will have a car wash 10 - 4 pm (fundraiser).
Good luck to your dd & the :cheer2: . I hope they make a lot of $

Yes its getting close, soon just 30 days, and I will know about Palo, last nights pirate: was a bit fluffy, no one around unusual, today, was a fair fight.

Very silly question,

Do we pay VAT on the excursions we book through Disney? I think it's just on durable or consumable goods?

Maryann

Thanks Andrew,

Im not very good at finding maps and I dont have google earth so I can't produce them.

There is a map on the 4cats website.

I have actually been sitting with a good old fashioned paper map the barcelona tourist info sent me.

Yes, I agree (I meant last night). It was really amusing, though.:rotfl2:

Did they come back re kids food?

Sorry Andrew,

I've not round to doing this yet.

Looking at the list we have 18 confirmed plus your possible 4.

I will email them now and try reserve a table for 20. I will also ask about the children and whether they have a kids menu.

Do you think that is ok?

Understandable count us in for 4.

Ok I have sent the email - I asked for a table for 20 . (I thought we could always add a couple of seats).

Fingers x that they reply

I thought this was informative on Las Ramblas
Guide to Barcelona Las Ramblas
Thank you for all of this info. I think I had glanced on it on the Web, but it is really good info to know. I'm going to look for that tile by Miró - it's like the tile at the Puerta del Sol in Madrid that marks the center of Spain - had to take a pic of that, too.

Okay you guys...this morning I woke up nervous......this is such a big trip and I have never travelled to Europe. This is my first trip in my lifetime where I need a passport..
I think you'll have a great time, and once you get there you won't be so nervous. I've been going there since I was 18, and was on my own at 21 there. I found it to be a great experience. :goodvibes

Earlier this morning there was a blurb on TV saying that the passport requirements have been lightened up because of the delays in processing. Now you have to have your government ID and your application receipt showing that you have applied for your passport. I would double check with the official office for Passports for confirmation but it seems they are acknowledging the problem.

Sandra
I'm going to give it another week or two, and if we haven't got the kids' passports (had to renew them) then I'm going to see if there is any way I can expedite them. I get a little nervous about having that info the closer we get to our trip that is LESS THAN TWO MONTHS!

No more need be said ;) Congratulations Commodore

FYI,

I just got an email from the consulate of Spain and Andorra (iI think I signed up for this on the US government site for travel alerts) Anyway here's a blurb about crime, medical issues, etc. in Spain, Barcelona in particular. Sorry it's so long and most of this has been stated before. It's just good to refresh our memories.
Maryann
All of this is such good information. Back in '84, my mom & I were at the Atocha train station in Madrid, and we were scammed - a man came to me asking how to get to the northern train station, and as I was distracted, someone else came & took my backpack, which had my mom's wallet, passport, cameras, credit cards. It was horrible. We did go to the consulate & they were able to replace my mom's passport before we returned to the States. It was a big lesson learned. A friend of mine was on the train, travelling in France, and she was sleeping among a bunch of students also travelling. Someone took her necklace right off of her & she never felt it.

Another thing they like to do, especially if you have fanny packs, is to distract you with something they are selling, etc., and while they do that, someone will unfasten your purse/fannypack & steal right there. The gypsies are really agressive about this.

Having said that, these are just words of caution, not alarm. We should all just be vigilant.

Any updates on dinner sittings??

:rotfl: I kinda like that.

On the subject of Disneyland CL, I see you are a bit of an expert, due the prices and packages for summer 2008, come out in September or later?

THANKS
I expect that the prices will come in July/August. That's typically how they've been in the past few years.

48 days -- that makes it seem so much closer! :woohoo:
