WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, sounds like a nicer group than many of the "upstanding families" we might get a room next to! My girls wil be 15, 12, and 10, so let's hope they don't get too interested in their "older men" neighbors . . .

Remember, my DD13 and DD11 will be with us as well.....if you girls would like to communicate before the cruise.....mine are more than willing....

There are several on the Teen/Tween Thread!!

Watch it. As one of the few guys on our thread I'll have to try to defend our honor whilst Andrew and Dan are away.

Brian

MEN!!! You can't live with them and you can't live without them!! (to quote my 90 year old mom!!)

I have the GNC 3mg tabs timed release. So I guess thats not the same thing?
Also, I have to change planes a couple of times, so setting my watch to Barcelona time when I get on the plane isn't really going to work for me, right? I have to fly up to Vancouver, sit in the airport for a few hours, then catch the flight to London. Seems like when I catch the London flight is when I do the time change and melatonin.

Keep in mind that people respond to Melatonin in different ways.

I tried the 3mg time release and it doesn't work as well for me. It did get me a whole nights sleep, but for me it was a greater dose than I needed and I found myself waking up groggy and with a headache.

Then again, I can fall asleep pretty easily after waking up, so for me, if I wake up after a few hours of sleep, taking another half tablet and falling asleep 15 -30 minutes later works ok.

As for setting the times - I think the most important thing is not to miss the London flight:-)

Personally, I tend to stay aware of the time at my final destination, but I change my watch to the destination time of each flight when I get on that flight. The time of my watch at each airport has to be correct so I don't risk getting confused - something that can definitely happen on long journeys...

I really love all these tips on jetlag......I always travel within my time zone (or at least close) and I did not really consider jetlag....

I will most likely be hit the worst, as I have never had it.......

Me, too. I remember when my daughter came home from Italy. She was really wiped. I'm not sure how I'll be affected either. We'll soon find out.....

Not sure how to explain this at work sorry I'm late but i was playing pirates witha friend in California
Too funny, I'll admit I'm starting to jump on during the day.............:rolleyes1

We are from Penrith just south of Carlisle, so not too far away from you .
I am flying to Barcelona from Newcastle airport, {on my own} my husband is flying from Tenerife where he will be finishing a holiday with his daughter and grandson .
We are all flying on the 28th, it's very scarry I keep thinking what if someones flight is cancelled or delayed !!!.
My niece and her family are flying from Luton we all arrive at differant times of the day first one at 11.30 last one at 16.15 .

I bought "Jet-Lag" tablets from Magellan's travel catalog. I think its melatonin. They give you step by step directions on when to take it. I think it's like a pill every 3 hrs. or something. It was about $9 for 50 hrs. of flying. One pack should be good for DH & I round trip.

I don't know about you, but if I have to take a pill every 3 hours---I won't be sleeping. Since I am the one who never sleeps on the plane, I am going to rely on a regular sleeping pill that I know I can take and when I wake up, I have no problems. That is going to be my final answer!!:cool1: I would really like to get on the plane, set my watch for Barcelona time, take my sleeping pill and wake up to someone saying "Welcome to Barcelona!":beach:

Helen- Have a great time- Im going to miss you!!!! Rest and Relax.. :drive: have a great trip !! log on AS SOON AS YOU GET BACK!!!
count us in for dinner and fountain, but I cant promise we will make both since I dont know if we will be awake enough to even get our barrings!!!
WE MUST WEAR GLOW NECKLACES!!!!!!- OR AT THE THE KIDS SHOULD!!!:dance3:
I really like the glo necklace idea for sailaway day.........:hourglass

What no body up yet???

I'm busy loading the motorhome up. Weather is sunny - just hope it stays that way.. Please pray that we dont have wind!!! Its no fun driving and setting up in the wind!
No, Helen.......don't go.........:woohoo:

Ok, I just caught up from today...........we had "Field Day" at school so I couldn't stop by...........however, I'll see you all from my computer in New Jersey (near the "rents!") When I fix my digital......I'll post our family shots on......see you all soon!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Hi all,
Checking in for the day. I'll be around the weekend, have too much to do before our trip.
As to the Jetlag - we communted between London and Boston every second week for about 2 years before our actual move to the USA. My DH never get Jetlag and would arrive into Boston or London and go straight from the airport into the office. My DD (who still travels between the USA (home) and London (College)) and I have the same problem which is on the UK/European end).
UK/Europe to Boston, would be fine - just a long day and we would stay awake until bed time and quickly get into the MA, USA timezone.
However the USA to UK trips are the worst for us. We always end up leaving the USA at night as most Transatlantic flights do, which is actually early hours of the morning in Europe so by the time you arrive at your destination you may have been able to get a few hours sleep if you're lucky. What we try and do now is as soon as we're on the plane and settled is to get to sleep ASAP and when arriving into Europe try not to have a nap until bed time - which tends to be very difficult. We found that once we napped we would end up being competely out of time with the timezone and would go to bed at 4am and only wake up at lunch time.
We also set our watches to the destination time as soon as we board the plane.
I've never tried any tablets and we have managed to get through the commuting.
Hope the info helps.
Charmaine

Cooling - see you are no longer "earning your ears" Wasn't that you too last weekend? Pretty good - for me it took almost 4 months to get that darn thing off. ;)

I had my profile set wrong so I don't think I ever had "earning my ears" = once I fixed it, I was right at Mouseketeer :)

Toga's and Greece do go together, but the ancient Romans (Ceasar and all) wore them too. Although I think they had a different name, like 'robe'.

My daughter takes latin and they have toga parties - maybe that is just an excuse for a party? She has a pink one - soooo pretty!!

Romans wore togas
Greeks wore Chitons the ch is sounded sh and causes much mirth amongst my 11 year old students when they are studying the greeks!

Thanks for the info!!

I have to get a pirate while they are away or I won't be able to look them in the eye

We do what it takes . . .

Guess I am just talking to myself here!!

Sorry, my husband got a great idea to go buy a car - geez, my favorite thing to do , NOT

Thanks for all the jet lag ideas - not sure what we'll do. We leave from Bozeman at 6:00 am fly to Salt Lake City and then Atlanta and then Barcelona - should I just keep resetting my watch for each place that we are going to?

Thanks

Sounds like a good plan to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! What city are you leaving from??

Anyone see a thread started yet for trip reports for the May 26th cruise? I see the old Dis Meet thread but thought they might start something up for the trip reports.

What town in CA are you? I do have several CA mail.

Laura, AnnaS and DisneyMagic316, I got your checks!!!!

I am in Norwalk, but see you got my check! :woohoo: I can relax now. Jeanne if you don't get enough requests for red - black will be fine too.

Oh well, I know the'll have a room for us somewhere so I'm not concerned just curious.

 You got a pirate: - congrats!

That's what I think.

Lisa - he looks like you! handsome!
No, Helen.......don't go.........:woohoo:

And by Monday - you'll be missing her like crazy! :rotfl:

As the rest of us willo.

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome you've given me, you certainly sound like a great bunch of people, being such a late starter I've missed out on a lot of fun, don't think I'll ever get to read all the postings got from 1 - 20 last night, spent tonight just reading new stuff ! don't understand the pirate thing.

Hi Jo
It's a shame you didn't join a couple of weekends ago, as for Mayday bank holiday we were at centre parks Whinfell Forest, very near you we could have meet and said hi.
You need to understand the pirate thing as you have to help me keep up the Brits score while Helen and Andrew are awayif you look at the top righthand corner of any of the posts in the thread there is a number, this is the post number, if you make a post that is a round 100 or 1000 post ie 2400 or 3000 then you are awarded a pirate so the trick is to let others post the 98 99 posts and then time it right for the pirate post. Helens timing is impeccable as her tag says however mine is rubbish so I hope you can help.

Charmaine we have exactly the same experience, coming out to the States absolutely no problem at all, just stay up and have a long day then we drop straight into the US time zone no probs east or west coast, but coming home is a different story. The best time we had was flying out from NY really late 1:00am because of a flight delay so we were really tired to start with and we slept well on the plane so although we only got 5 hours sleep we did feel that we had had a night time and we just went to bed early the next night. the worst is the afternoon flights that mean you are not tired so you don't sleep on board and when you land it's 8am in the morning so you go 48hours without sleep or you nap and never seem to get caught up. Hope this helps someone

Good morning everyone, first day of a holiday weekend and I was going to upload photos and post some here and print some off for scrapbooking and my hard drive has crashed!!!

I'm on my laptop now whilst husband tries to remedy the situation wish me luck!!!!

Yes Whinfell is just a few miles away, our niece works in the spa there, we sometimes go for the weekend when we can get a friends/family rate, too bad we came onto the boards too late for a meet up.
I'll try with the pirate thing but don't expect too much,i'm not the best at these things.
Just wondering if there were any children around the same age as the girls in our party, on the last disney cruise we couldn't get them to go to the kids clubs but if they made friends with someone first it would help, I would love to see them in the final show, ages are 11,9,4.

Who else wanted red color reels beside Laura? I can't remember or find my notes on that. Please let me know.

Hi Kayla could you put me down for 2 reds and 1 black- if not , all red would be great!! :yay:
