July 2012 Who's Going Thread

Just wanted to join the thread and say hi!

DS 6 and I will be at DLR July 5-8 for our first DL trip ever, and our first mother-son Disney trip on either coast. DS loves Cars and we are SO ready for Cars Land!!! We'll have four full days in the parks.

As WDW vets we're well-versed in summer crowds and heat. Hoping the humidity will be less of an issue in CA than in FL though. We just couldn't pass up this opportunity - great discount on the Fairfield Inn across the street from DL and our flights were FREE because of SW points. This trip will run us about the same price as a long weekend in NYC - so to go across the country for DL was a no-brainer!

Two weeks left! Woo hooooo! :cheer2:

You will enjoy the lack of humidity in California!!!!!!

One reason I have no desire to step foot in WDW is because our vacations are family trips and can only occur in the summer.

Just got our Disneyland Trip goodies today...all the tickets/park hoppers, luggage tags (Cars themed!). My 6 year old is GOING NUTS! Of course we made the count down loops and so she's been taking one off each morning and counting down the days. LOVE IT!

Excited household here.:cheer2:

The countdown is on! 10 days until we leave for Disneyland, I can't wait!

This next week is going to be rough. I'm in the National Guard and the Army failed to provide dental care while we were in Afghanistan, so upon return I was told that I am REQUIRED to have a bunch of work done or I am non-deployable and ineligible for promotion. My 180 days of post-deployment health insurance ends in mid July, we'll be leaving on the 30th and I'll be meeting my unit in SoCal for annual training, so I won't be back until after the insurance is gone. We JUST got the authorization from the Army on Monday for my dental care (after MONTHS of repeated requests for procedures that they are requiring). So my dentist, being the awesome guy that he is, is cramming everything into the next 7 days. I was at his office for 3 hours yesterday, 4 hours today and will be back on Tuesday to install the crowns that he rush ordered for me and one more day after that. My teeth and jaw are in agony right now and I expect to feel that way until we leave, but it's getting done, which is awesome, and it won't keep me from my trip.

I'm taking a big bottle of Aleve with me just in case I'm still in pain. I may forego the Tigger Tails at Critter Country, and will probably be enjoying a lot of soup at meals, but nothing, not even cold sensitivity, is keeping me from my Dole Whip!

 :thumbsup2 I won't even get started on anything to do with waiting for paperwork on insurance situations.... doesn't seem to matter what country you are living in that is one thing that is universal!! But....Hurray!! you are getting it all done, and will be in Disneyland soon for a very well deserved awesome holiday!! There is a toothpaste made by Colgate, here is a link to the Colgate site about it http://www.colgatesensitiveprorelief.com.sg/home this stuff is like a miracle in a tube!! it works 100% especially on pain caused by cold and sweet!! you can use it as a regular toothpaste, but I just rub some on the tooth that is bugging me and it works immediately!! and it lasts a long time!! I mean like the pain relief and sensitivity control lasts for days, not hours! I hope you will give it a try and have a magical holiday!! pixiedust: and thankyou for your service to your country, which being your close neighbour helps us as well!

:dance3: hooray!!! I am patiently awaiting my package, but I was told to expect it late next week! :sad1: We did a countdown calendar also, it sure helps the kiddos! Did you go through WDT, AAA, or Costco? They are all WDT but have different amenities in the packages! We are getting closer..yay!!:cool1:

We went through WDT....we used them before and it was a great experience and so I thought I'd not rock the boat and use them again. :-)

My photopass plus package arrived by UPS yesterday. We bought our deluxe APs the day before the price went up. And we booked CCI back in Jan. So, now we just wait! :goodvibes

In 1987 my friend and I booked through AAA and it only cost us $222 for airfare, two days at DL, and a cheap motel. ;)

Thank you! I'll check out that toothpaste, I use Colgate as my regular brand, anyway.

SINGLE DIGIT DANCE! :dance3: :cool1: :woohoo: :dancer: :jumping1:

I usually try to avoid the crowded times of the year; but since my boys refused to stop aging, we are going from the 11 - 19. I am dreading the wait times! :scared1:

We had a family situation that was threatening our trip. Our situation is still not resolved, but I did find out today that we will still be able to go! I'm beyond excited! I don't even care about the crowds or the wait times or if it will be hot or anything. I just so glad that we will get to be there! This will be our first trip to California, so we got the City Pass. We plan to visit USH, Seaworld, and San Diego Zoo. We also plan to do the Rt 1 drive along the coast to San Fransisco.

It's getting closer!!!!

We have our city passes(which arrived in like 2 days) and last night I ordered our prepaid photopass +

I keep tossing around the idea of adding days to our citypass and pushing back vegas a couple days... We shall see.

Once I get to California I don't wanna leave.

You poor thing!!! Dental work does suck...and to get so much done all at once? :scared1:

It is funny (not ha ha) that ds was also told to get our dentist to sign off on all his teeth when he came back. Luckily he didn't need a bunch..and we have dental insurance... but seems weird how the year he was gone they didn't seem to care and then when he was back it was like "you MUST" take care of this.

Glad it won't interfere with your trip though! :thumbsup2

How many days left til July? I want this month to be over! :rolleyes1

All my tickets, etc, arrived yesterday AND my PhotoPass+ so excited!! I had the tickets, etc sent to my Dad so he could sign for them, I'll see him tomorrow. It seems much more REAL when you have it all in your hand!!

I booked through AAA...just an FYI, they use the same booking system as WDT, except you do get a slight discount.

I am dreading the long wait times also! I am hoping it gets a little better before we arrive, but I am doubtful! Last summer we were surprised at how much time we spent in line. FP return waits were 15-30 minutes! :scared1: It seemed like we didn't get much accomplished. We are there for 4 days but are seriously considering adding a day! We shall see how things are the first day! :)

I have been checking MouseWait several times a day. I want to see if there are any trends where a certain line gets shorter at certain times of the day. So far Nemo and ST seem to be shorter than normal. TSMM is aways in the 40-50 range like always. IJ seems to be a little shorter too. RSR always seems to be at 135 when I check, but if the single rider is open, it is less than an hour. And there are times when MJJ is 30 min. We'll see how it goes as summer goes on into July. This is all based on assuming the times people entered is correct. Anyway, I feel like this is all do-able with a good plan (which I'm still developing) .

We leave a week today, first day in-park a week Sunday. At this point I think I'm *WAY* more excited than the kids. :lmao: I'm down to the last-minute kind of details and hoping I'm not forgetting anything major.

Ditto! My parents will arrive at my place on Friday and we'll be driving south together on Saturday. We plan to spend Saturday afternoon at DTD then Sunday is our first park day. I can't wait! I really have to start packing today.

How long will you be there? Maybe we'll run across each other in line somewhere. ;)

We'll be driving all weekend - it's 22 hours straight, but with kids we're breaking it up a little. Plan is to get into Anaheim noonish Sunday, crash out for a bit and then hit the park for mid/late afternoon to close. I can't wait, I'm a bibbling idiot spewing all kinds of Disneyola and driving everyone around me completely bonkers. *grin*

our drive is also 20-22 hours. However we leave in the evening one night and being that we pick up two hours on the west coast it puts us in Cali at just the right time. I drive non stop except to eat and potty and to switch drivers. The last two years it's just been me and the wife driving but this year two of the three kiddos can drive!!!!
