July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

Almost in my 40's!!! WOOO HOOO!

being almost in the 40's sounds sooo good. For me it's 65 days left - and 66 days until our first park day (we arrive at 9pm-ish and after a 10,5h flight we won't be able to hit a park that day).
can't wait for june to come, when i finally can say: one month left :worship:

Here is the link for the packing cubes.
http://www.ebags.com/search/packing-cube-set?lastterm=packing+cube+set
I can't give you any feedback on them at all, because I only just ordered them tonight. I got the set of 3 different sizes. They are on sale right now. There is a lot of feedback about them on this forum, so you could do a search.

My DH always likes to put his clothes in the drawers, I figured this would be an easy way to just pull the cubes out and be done packing!

I also booked the Cirque tickets. Looks like pretty good seating, area 102. I keep telling myself.. aren't you spending enough? Then I say... anything for my DH! He has done more for me than I can even say!!

Yes, actually, when I posted that I was in the 50s for a countdown... i was like.. EEP!!! It's coming too fast now! :lmao: I want it to come.. but not too fast!

Those cubes look great. I actually just ordered some of the SpaceSaver Travel bags. Those work great too and you can really jam alot into your suitcase.

:woohoo:Cirque Tickets. We've never been but I think the kids would really enjoy it but not sure if DH wants to spend the money.

We're at 44 since we're going at the end of June. :cloud9::goodvibes

:scared1:

LUCKY!!!!!!!!! I'm so jealous! LOL, I just really want to get there and see it. I've only seen WDW in pictures and on TV….I know I'm going to be in for a great treat!!!

 You are going to have so much fun on your first visit. It truly is a magical place.

We hit 45 days on the 19th!!!! So excited.

I can't believe I've not posted here before. Our dates are July 2nd-July 12th. The 2nd-4th we are staying at Pop Century. The 5th-12th we will be at AKV- Kidani.

:welcome:

Welcome! If you want to post your ADRs, we have a list going on page 1 - I will add them on! It is so fun to do split stays - that is what we usually do, but this year we are at one resort for the whole time.

Welcome! Nice split stay you have going on!

I think I will get some packing cubes (but only if it makes thing's easier) but the question is, we are using duffel bags because the frame of my other suitcases add's weight to us. Although US Air says we can use up to 100 lbs (military I think it's for PCS moves or going TDY) I dont want to use that much in case we get to the gate and we are at the 50 or 60lb restriction KWIM? Would those work well with duffels do you think?

In the thread I read about Packing cubes, it seemed that people did use them in duffle bags. But again, I have never actually used them. I am buying them based off of advice from the DIS. I would suggest doing a search on the topic and see what info you can find on the boards.

I do the same things, start putting things in one spot...

Being nosy - why no Mickey Mail for you??

Won't be getting Mickey Mail, well except for ME tags, because on May 2nd we bought into DVC and changed our trip to points instead of cash, so no package.

Grrr...yet ANOTHER thing to stress me out.

Because there was a unit org day at the gym that has daycare, the daycare center was closed. So I went to see a friend of mine who has been sick to see how she was feeling. She was feeling better but her house needed cleaning so I offered to help her. We drove to get some cleaning supplies and found out my AC was not working...all that came out was luke warm air. So I looked up vehicle recalls on my car...and there are 2 out for the AC! One of them has to do with a leak in the freon hose and if that's the case with my car then it's an easy fix. I take it in on Tuesday morning though to get it checked out. I'm REALLY praying it's an easy fix and not something major. I'm also getting all the other recall's checked out as well (there is one regarding the slidding door's causing fires or something like that).

I agree about all of the threads on here that turn negative! Strollers, resort parking, and don't even mention TSA searches! It's nice to have somewhere friendly to come to! I seem to stick to trip reports and pre-trip reports these days. When I do venture into other threads, I'm always amazed. :sad2: It's nice to have a friendly thread here!

I've had my eye on a Handy Cooler mini fan / air conditioner for a while now. Planning to get it for DH for Fathers' Day. It's not cheap, but I'm hoping it will bring a small amount of relief for the July heat!

The kids and I were pretending we were on Splash Mountain last night, while listening to the music from the Four Parks CD. I wish I could find Song of the South for them to watch. No luck on Amazon or Netflix. Maybe a local library will have it. :confused3 I don't know if Brer Rabbit is in anything else, but at least I can read them some of the books.

I hear you all about the negativity on some of the threads on here, but to be honest, I think that happens on most forums.

I got my Tinkerbell birks yesterday and they are so cute. Has anyone worn their birks to the parks? I have never worn any other type of shoe except for my walking shoes (sneakers).

I'm having a senior moment, because I know there was something else I wanted to post, but cannot think of it right now.

ETA: I remembered what I wanted to ask when I saw my avatar. Has anyone bought prescription sunglasses online? If so where and how was your experience? I went to the eye doctor yesterday and my prescription has changed a lot and my new glasses cost an arm and a leg. I really want to get prescription sunglasses but can't justify the cost right now.

'Cause I can't stand it no more, I've assembled the necessary travel items; shave cream, razor, deodorant, toothpaste, lime green Mickey......:rolleyes1

I usually wear my birks to Disney. My feet swell pretty badly due to some health issues (growls), and the birks let my feet "breathe" pretty easily. Now, I always wear sandles with ankle straps around the parks, so I am not sure about the type you bought. I haven't had problems before with wearing them... just the normal possibility of blistering. I like to wear my sneakers at night for a nice shoe change option. :)

None of my sandals have backs on them, for some reason I hate that ankle strap. I may bring them just to wear around the resort or for our time outside of the parks.

The pair I wear around the majority of the time does not have an ankle strap. But when I need more support or don't want to lose them on a ride :), I like the extra staying protection.

I wear contacts in the parks with regular sunglasses (yes I often get them at the dollar stoe because I loose them so often lol). I also have transitions glasses. Not as strong as regular sunglasses, but they work in a pinch.:thumbsup2

Assembled or packed? I get all that stuff together the night before we go down, well minus the tooth brushes, tooth paste and hairbrushes oh and deo. Have to have that stuff the morning of before we leave so they are the ABSOLUTE last things to go in our bags. I did a cute LGMH though for our stroller and back pack, just have to get more lamanate to put on the back side of them and buy a hole punch so I can stick it on our stuff much more easily.

That is a GREAT reason for no Mickey Mail - I have not gotten any the past few years because we drove AND I booked room only with an AP.......so I am really excited to be getting it this year!

Sounds like a somewhat frustrating day - but getting the car fixed for Disney has to count as a Disney chore done!

There is something with Song of the South that they are "not allowed" to reproduce it in the U.S. It was released many years ago, but then stopped. You can sometimes find it, but be careful because it was released in the European format (PALS). Those won't work on VHS. A few years ago, there was talk of Disney re-releasing it but it never happened. I would LOVE to see it again, I remember it as a kid.

I cannot wear contacts anymore, so I buy these dorky sunglasses that you wear over your regular glasses. They are pricey, about $20 per pair at Walmart or CVS......but, they work well, and you don't have to switch glasses when you go indoors, just take off the shades.

I always wear sneakers, habit from childhood - I am not a sandal/flip flop person - but it gets sooooo hot. One year I tried Crocs - and they were great for a day, but my feet started to get sore and I developed blisters. I have wanted to try Tevas or Keens.....went shopping today and got a pair of Avias at Kohls - http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/shoes/brandsforshoes/avia/PRD~565701/Avia+River+Hiking+Sandals.jsp

I am hoping they work. I actually tried on Keens and Tevas but could not find a pair that fit right with my arch. I would love to have cooler feet during the day and not worry about my shoes getting soaked.

Speaking of soaked shoes - if you do have sneakers that get drenched in the Florida downpours - stuff them with newspaper tightly, but the next morning they will be dry - I read this tip and a few trips ago we were soaked, I was amazed at how it worked, we had actually contemplated a trip to the mall to buy new sneakers because it happened at the beginning of our trip.

I can't sleep without the sound of a fan, a habit I formed working shiftwork in the military years ago. With that in mind we always travel with a small travel fan. This gives us 2 benefits; the white noise does help if the resort is ever noisy, it also works great for drying shoes. We always bring 2 pairs of shoes to Disney. A night in front of the fan has always dried ours for the next day.

We will be in Disney July 13 thru July 20, staying at the AKL for the first time. We are celebrating my dd high school graduation and my dh bday.

I am so much work to do but I find myself on these boards every night!!!:goodvibes

Welcome! If you want to post your ADRs, I can add them to the list on page 1.

Thanks! We're excited. We've never stayed at an Epcot resort.

I love the Epcot resorts!

That is a great idea - but if you don't have a fan, the newspaper is great too.
