July 2010 car rental

There is now :thumbsup2

I have a minivan reserved for 13 days (7/8 - 7/21) with Advantage Rent a Car for $460 including all taxes and fees but I am a little hesitant to use them given all of the bad reviews I have read.

The same thing would cost $580 from Budget. It may be worth the $120 to avoid getting my Italian temper in an uproar on vacation.

Yeah...looking for a Minivan myself. Getting into MCO on 7/22, but the crimp in our plan is we're going to Hilton Head for a week after WDW. We're flying back out of JAX. Best price thus far has been w/ Thrifty, $780 for the 16 days...BUT, they charge a $180 drop off fee so we're looking at $960. Believe me, that's the best by $400 thus far. Never seen rates this high, hopefully I'll find some good rates/codes just to tie up this loose end.

Have a full size car through National. July 16-July 28th for $333.00. A little cheaper than last year. But still hope it will come down more.:thumbsup2

Budget full size for 11 days $269(tax & fees incl.). I check every day now to get a better deal!
C'mon July!!!!:goofy:

I am looking for July 24 to Aug 14. Either a minivan or a 7 or 8 passenger SUV...:eek::eek:
I did find a minivan for $870 including everything. Do you think that will be the best rate from MCO. I would prefer National, but they are way higher!!!:confused3

Just an fyi .... Advantage and Hertz will be moving onsite at MCO in April. So I am going to keep both my reservation with Advantage and Budget. If things do not go smoothly with Advantage I will just walk on over to Budget :tiptoe:

You've probably done good. The best rate (w/ code and coupon) I had found was for $694 (w/ all taxes included....$154 worth of taxes  ) for 16 total days thru Budget. Had found a better rate from Dollar, but they charge a high rate for returning to a different location....one week in WDW, then driving up to Hilton Head for a week.

We got a mini-van for July 9-18 at Budget for $384.57. Nothing else I've seen comes close.

I've booked a compact for July 12-17 with Enterprise for $196. I used a AAA discount. Hoping to find something cheaper. And I'm a little nervous about Enterprise since I've never used them.

I used the SW website to get a discounted rate on Alamo. We like Alamo because of the pre check access. I booked a standard SUV for 14 days for $802. with taxes and fees.

I will continue to look for something better...They have great last minute deals that I will keep my eye on.

.

What is the "pre check" that Alamo has? I hadn't heard of this, is it like a frequent renter program?

No....Anyone can do it....You get to pay and chek-in prior to your arrive...You skip the line and the desk and go right to the cars...They tell you what row to go down and you get to pick a car...No wait time. You can do it right before you leave or weeks in advance to save 10%.

Rates for July seem to have dropped a little bit, at least on some sites. I got a compact from Thrifty for $143 for July 12-17. Prices had also dropped on the Enterprise site. Happy hunting everyone!

I used the Costco and Entertainment book codes and booked a standard with Alamo for $265 from July 22-August 3. I booked it in March. Now the price is quadrupled. I felt this was an exceptionally good deal considering the Costco benefit of a free extra driver, my mom.
