July 17th 2005 Magic?

but I think we're the only ones!! I've tried a couple of times to start a thread, but no luck. I'll be travelling with my DD 7, and we're very excited. Have you ever been on a disney cruise before - this is our first, so I have a ton of questions. Do you think that since its a 6 night rather than 7, and 2 days in port, that they'll do both a formal and semi-formal night? What else do you think will be different? And why does this particular cruise seem to have no one from this board? I think every other West coast thread has a bunch of posters! Maybe we're special! :flower:

No this is not our first cruise. We have been on several. This will however, be our first trip to Disneyland and we are excited. Maybe we are special and will be the only people on board and upgraded to the Walter and Roy Disney suites. LOL!!!! :cool1: Truthfully, I think maybe people have stayed away from this one because 1) it is a 6-day and 2) it is the actual Disneyland birthday. Since there is no Castaway Cay, I won't miss not having the 7 days. I hope others will post to the boards soon.

Are you going to Disneyland before or after the cruise? Its great, but very different from WDW. Less to do, but more manageable if you have just a few days, and better for kids who might get overloaded trying to squeeze a lot in. (just my humble experience with my daughter and theme parks - can you say meltdown?) how are you getting to the pier? We are taking Disney transfers from LAX to the ship the morning of the 17th. I'm hoping that will work ok. I have so many questions, so I'm looking forward to hearing from the first West coast cruisers!

Hello, we will be on this cruise too. This will be our second Disney cruise. We live an hour away from Disneyland so we are so thrilled to leave from Ca this time and have no flights...just fun. LOL :cheer2:

She looks like a doll in the pictures!! My DD will have just turned 7 when we cruise.

Hi Pclaire: Thanks for the comments about my DD! You are too sweet. :flower:

She was Almost 5 in those pics. She will be 5 1/2 on this upcoming cruise.

What excursions are you all doing? We're going to try Randi's happy horses in Mazatlan, and maybe the Santa Maria snorkeling in Cabo (not sure about that - a little worried about how may DD 7 will do). :sunny:

I wanted to Horseback ride with my DD but it says she has to be 10 years old on the disney site for the one I was looking at. Which was the First port of call I believe. I dont know if my DH could be on a horse that long LOL.

I hope we get upgraded! What cat are you? were are 8 gty right now.

I heard about Randi's happy horses on the cruise critic board - she takes younger children, and all the reviews have been fabulous. Its not a Disney excursion, but seems very reliable. I dont think the rides are that long, and there is an option to meet the riders at the restaurant where they end up for lunch. Here's a link to the Mexican riviera boeard; there seem to be lots of threads on Randi's.

Wanted to add my name the list of people on this cruise. Our family of four and our friends (also 4) will be staying in Category 9's. We have all boys, two are in third grade this year and two are Kindergarten. We've booked Randi's Happy Horses, but that is about all we have done. We don't plan on doing Disneyland, but we do plan on arriving sometime on Saturday. We need help figuring out where to stay and how to get to the port. We're getting excited....hopefully this thread will start hopping soon.

Add our names too, We are a family of four DW, DD 10 and DD 4-1/2. It will be our first Disney cruise (and first cruise for the kids). My kids have grown up at Disneyland since we have been AP holders for the last 10 or so years. We make about 10 trips a year. DD 4 wanted to know if there were any rides on the boat? I am hoping that this cruise is not completely full and we all have a chance for an upgrade (Ha!). We have an other couple from my work that has since booked this cruise. Both of us are Cat 9 GTY. I posted a question about the empty ship on another thread, wondering if we would be able to get to our rooms earlier since no one would be on the ship. Some replyed that Disney was using it as a hotel Saturday night for the Press covering the birthday party at Disneyland. I have no proof of this, but I am hoping that we can get to our rooms a little early. Hope to see everone on the boat.

Hi everyone,
Myself, DH, DS13, DD11, and DD6 will be on this cruise (by the way, when I called DCL to make my final payment, they said the boat was full, although you wouldn't know it by this thread!! :goodvibes ).
I'm really hoping my 13 year- old has a great time-he's going through the teenage thing right now, so he's on the fence about this whole thing (although he loved Disney as a child).
Hope this thread gets going soon...

Anybody out there going on this date? How about you previous posters-did you all cancel or decide to go on another day? :confused3 Just curious.... :teeth:

Cant wait, in fact. We booked our excursions, flights and are ready to go! Cherta, my daughter is 6 also. She'll turn 7 2 days before the cruise.

Hi pclaire,
Thanks for responding! :earsboy: My youngest DD will be 7 on the 28th of July and I'll be the big 4-0 on the 1st, so we will both be celebrating on the boat. We booked the beach excursions at both ports--I think the heat is going to be unbearable, so I thought that would keep everyone in my party fairly happy (at least I hope so :earboy2:)! What did you end up booking?

We're doing Randi's happy horses in Mazatlan and The Santa Maria snorkel trip in Cabo. A little nervous about my daughter doing these, but she really wanted to try, so we'll see. hopefully it wont rain, even if its hot! Where are you from - we're from Denver.

We're from Southern California-Long Beach to be exact. Denver is a beautiful, especially the downtown area. Is this your first time visiting California? If so, are you going to Disneyland? We have been to Disneyland more times than I can count and we made our first trip to WDW and IOA/US back in 2001 (can't wait to go back, especially to IOA!!). This is our first cruise, so I'm looking forward to the experience. Is your daugther looking forward to the cruise, and more importantly, the kid's club? My 6 year old is really excited-I hope she doesn't end up disappointed :guilty: !

My six year old is soooo excited . . I just hope it can live up to her expectations - I have nightmares about rain and high seas throughout the cruise!!! She's most excited about the Mickey slide and horseback riding. We're not doing Disneyland this trip - she's been there before, but never to WDW. Last year we took our vacation to San diego - from Colorado, California beaches are so much easier to get to - you dont lose a whole day travelling. I'm not sure what she thinks about the kids club, but I've told her that mom needs a little time to herself, so she'll have to adjust. (last year on vacation we were together 24/7 for a week, and with the excitement of Sea World, the zoo, and too much sugar, I was ready to grab my own boat to Mexico  ) I think the events like goofy's slumber party sound pretty neat and will allow them to at least try the club!!
