July 13, 2008 - Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera

We have early seating also.

I'm kind of bummed out that we won't be going to Disneyland before the cruise so we could be at the meet. We have gone to DL alot recently and will be there twice in August so we decided not to go before the cruise. Now I wish we were going. Oh well. We'll just have to meet on the ship!

Rose Quartz, We booked the Sea Life Park in PV. We are all very excited about it!!:yay: Transportation shouldn't be bad at all. We have an 11:15 am time. Hope you decide to do it!!

::yes:: Good, then we will too...did you book any of the dolphin encounters?

Yes. We are going to do the Dolphin Swim Adventure with our 2 daughters. We will be there with my parents and my sister and her 6 year old twins. They are in Cabo now so I think they are doing the dolphin swim now instead of on the cruise. I think I am most looking forward to going on the slides!!

Hello all,

I just finished the 3 fish extenders for our group and I'm so pleased with how they came out. DD wants to dress like a pirate for pirate night so figuring out her costume will be my next project. Of course I can't let her dress up without me so I've got to figure mine out, too. I smell a photo op!

Hi...where did you purchase your park hopper passes?? I did not know if you could get a better deal one place or another.

We bought a 2-day hopper at the AAA office in Sacramento while we were in CA last week. I called them first to ask if they had any discounted tickets and they said yes. Then, AFTER we drove over there and paid for the ticket, I asked how much I saved and the gal said, "Oh, Disney doesn't discount anything anymore, so it was the same price as if you'd bought it at the gate." When I looked at her dumbfounded, she added, "Now, you won't have to stand in lines to purchase your ticket."

I've read that you can go to Guest Relations and use one day at a time off a WDW Hopper Pass, so that's what we're planning to do for the other ticket (for DH). DD isn't arriving until late Saturday evening, so she won't have time to go into the parks.

Hello everyone,
I'm leaving for California tomorrow, so unfortunately I will not be able to make any more magnets  but I figured I would post the instructions I sent to Kouris_Family on how to print them out incase anybody needs them. Keep in mind I have a Windows, and have never tried this on a Mac, so I have no idea what the default graphics program is on a Mac or how to use it :confused3 , but I'm guessing the process would be pretty similar.

PORTRAIT (long) MAGNETS:
1) Save the design somewhere on your computer. Then find the picture, right click, and select "open with > Paint"
2) To fix the sizing, go to File > Page Setup
3) Under "orientation", make sure "Portrait" is selected (that should be the default).
4) Under "centering", un-check both "horizontal" and "vertical".
5) Under "margins", adjust "left" to 0.251, "right" to 0.25, and "top" and "bottom" both to 0.2.
6) Under "scaling", select "Fit To:", and adjust it to say "1 by 1 page(s)".
7) The screen should look like this. If it does, click "OK".

9) Click File > Print Preview. If it shows the entire design on one piece of paper, then you're good to go. Load one piece of magnetic paper and click "print". Make sure you let it dry for a few minutes after printing to avoid smudging the ink...it takes awhile to scrub it off your fingers >.>

LANDSCAPE (wide) MAGNETS:
1) Save the design somewhere on your computer. Then find the picture, right click, and select "open with > Paint"
2) To fix the sizing, go to File > Page Setup
3) Under "orientation", select "Landscape".
4) Under "centering", un-check both "horizontal" and "vertical".
5) Under "margins", adjust both "left" and "right" to 0.2, "top" to 0.25, and "bottom" to 0.253
6) Under "scaling", select "Fit To:", and adjust it to say "1 by 1 page(s)".

Can't wait to see them all in 16 days!!! :hippie:

2 weeks, gettin' psyched! :goodvibes

I find I can think of nothing else! DD goes to sleep away camp for the first time the week before and that will give me an opportunity to get all the last minute details taken care of. I am determined to pack lightly but well and not come back to any unfinished business. I'd probably get lots more done if I would stop checking the DIS boards every few minutes :rotfl2:

Is it the 13th yet?

I thought I'd share some BIG news that's going to be happening to me soon after our cruise! I am a bone marrow match for a complete stranger! Out of over 5,000,000 people on the National Bone Marrow Registry (on which DH and I have been for over 12 years), I am the ONE and only match! ::yes:: The date for me to donate was set today - August 19th! I was originally contacted mid-January, so this has been a long process. I've already given blood samples twice, had my medical records reviewed, and answered a million questions. I have to get more blood drawn next week, and then again the second week of August. I also go for a very thorough physical on July 7th. I am very excited about this, but also very nervous, so I could use all the prayers and Pixie Dust you could send my way. :goodvibes

Wow!! That is great news!! What a wonderful feeling you must have to give someone a chance to live a long and healthy life!! Many prayers and tons of pixie dust for you!!

First of all, congrats and good luck to DebT! What you are doing is sooo special. Secondly, when is everyone getting to the port? We don't want to go too early and wait around, but we also want to get on the ship ASAP. Just wondering what everyone thought.

DebT - That is such wonderful news. I have always donated blood, but now i think that I want to be added to the bone marrow registry. You have really inspired me!

mom4mad - I'm not sure what time we will be getting to the port this year. In the past we have always arrived early in order to get a low boarding number or, back in the day, first place in line. This time we have concierge check in so we don't have to be there when the port opens to secure a low boarding number. We'll probably arrive aroung 11:00.

Deb T. - That is just amazing! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: To help out someone that you don't even know is just amazing. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Deb T - What a great thing you are doing!

Not sure what time we are getting to the port. We are staying with family the night before in Simi Valley. I would like to get to the port as early as we can, but I'm sure my husband would rather wait and just walk on the boat with a higher boarding number. We'll see as it gets closer I guess.

Deb....I just wanted to let you know that is a truly amazing gift you are giving someone. Our thoughts and most of all our prayers will be with you and the recipient. My father died waiting to be put on the heart transplant list..so people like you are angels among us. Deb is just awesome...she also told us where to find a free parking pass out of the NC airport we are leaving from! Thanks again Deb!:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all your kind words about my bone marrow donation! :goodvibes I appreciate the prayers and Pixie Dust for me and for the recipient! :lovestruc

I am getting ready to PM the latest update on the Fish Extender Gift Exchange. I believe the only addition is a cabin number that was assigned to a GTY. If you haven't joined yet and would like to, please post here or send me a private message ASAP. We'll only be able to accept names until this Sunday, July 6.

wonder - it was my pleasure to be able to tell you about the free parking coupon! I'm glad you're going to be able to use it! :)

mom4mad - we're planning to get to the port as close to 10am as possible. We have a rental car to drop off, so that could slow us down a little bit. We like to be on the ship as soon as they start boarding! :cool2:

It won't be long now!!! :yay:

Hello!

DebT-Wow, what a gift! To give of yourself is truly remarkable. You are an amazing person. My prayers are with you and the bone marrow recipient!! :flower3:

Regarding arrival time-We are staying at the San Pedro Holiday Inn and the shuttle begins at 10 AM, so we will be at port shortly after 10. Wish it could be a bit earlier. ;)

Rene'

And DebT-thanks for the recent update for the FE.
