July 13, 2008 - Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera

OK, I am starting to freak out because our vacation is coming fast and I don't feel like I am ready :scared1: . We haven't received our docs yet and we leave for CA in 10 days. I hope we see it soon.

Second, I have also read about it being cold at sea and in some of the ports and I am hoping it is just because they sailed in early June and we will have warmer weather in July. I can't handle having to pack for hot and cold days, there just isn't enough room in my suitcases for both types of weather  .

How do you get to the Port of LA? Does anyone have an address? I have looked on the disneycruise.com website and don't see how to get to the port. When I go to the Port of LA web site there is an address but is it the address of the Port or the address of the office that handles the Port  ?

I don't have my door magnets done yet, I can't find any lime green shirts, and I still don't like the excursions I have signed up for but haven't found anything else to replace them  . And my work is going to be really busy for the next 2 weeks and I won't have hardly anytime to work on all of these problems, I need a beer :drinking1

Well, one worry is over, our cruise docs came in today :cool1: Now I just have to work on all the other things :headache:

I can take care of your door magnet problem if you'd like :cool2: Just send me a PM with names, room number(s), and any themes/characters you want on it :goodvibes

I just read the thread on the Cruise Line Forum where someone asked if people are dressing up for Pirate Night during the West Coast Cruises:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1861226

Just wondering...are any of you planning on dressing up in pirate gear? In just pirate-themed t-shirts? Or not doing anything at all?

Our family will be dressing up... :)

pirate: Count us in for dressing up for Pirate Night! pirate: DH, DD, and I had never taken "the plunge" before on our previous six Disney Cruises, but this time we're going all out! My niece and her DH and four kids will be all decked out, too. I'm hoping the other family sailing with us will, as well! Arrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh! pirate:

Breathe..... innnnnnnn.... ouuuuuuuut..... innnnnnnn...... ouuuuuuut.

It will be okay... I promise!

You're a veteran DCL cruiser so I have confidence that you'll be able to pull it all off. You've got great friends here to help you through! Tinkerbell's_Shadow ROCKS!!! :goodvibes And, your docs arrived today, so that's good news! :woohoo:

SoCal tends to be on the cool side, and the sea days are always breezy due to the ship moving so fast. I'm taking a comfy hoodie and a pair of jeans to throw on for those days. :)

Are you driving to the port or taking a cab or other transportation? One good thing about the Disney ship is you can't miss it when approaching a port! :rotfl: The current DCL Port address is:
World Cruise Center
425 S. Palos Verdes Street, Berth #93A/B
San Pedro, CA 90731
It could take anywhere from 20-60 minutes to drive from LAX to the port, depending on traffic. Allow 60-90 minutes from the DL Resort.

Can't help you on the excursions 'cause I pretty much feel the same. Right now, we have the Canopy Zip-line thing booked in Cabo but are probably going to cancel it. We're doing the Hike to the Lighthouse in Matalzan because DH said the view was breathtaking. (Yeah, sure Dear... the HIKING is what will be breathTAKING for this slightly out-of-shape gal as I struggle up whatever terrain he's going to drag me on!!! :rotfl2:) Then DH and DD are doing that CRAZY Outdoor Adventure boat-hike-jeep-mule-zipline-rapell-boat excursion while this extremely smart girl is laying on a bed in the ship's spa getting a massage!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

If you can't find a lime green shirt, just grab a few lime green Mickey head paint samples from Home Depot and pin 'em on your t-shirts. :hyper:

Now, close your eyes, take another deep breath, and imagine yourself on that great big beautiful ship with your every want and need taken care of by those amazing cast members! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ::yes::

Katie, I meant what I said in the previous post... you ROCK! ::yes:: I can't wait to meet you in a couple of weeks! :goodvibes

I won't be wearing any lime green like other dis people do, but you all can spot me, because I will have a band t-shirt on and a nets hat :cool1: :thumbsup2

Deb T. - Thanks for helping me calm down. I sent you a PM for the magnet, anything you can do would be great. For how we are getting to the port, we will be in CA the week before the cruise sightseeing so we will have a rental car. We need to drop it off back at SNA and then get to the port on Sunday. I have been thinking about dropping it off in the morning and then having a car service pick us up from the airport and take us to the terminal. I just haven't put out any feelers yet for car services. Thanks for the info on temps. I guess I can pack some jeans and a hoodie for the days it may be cold :worried: . I was just hoping that on sea days we could lay around the pool and get some sun but we may have to be inside doing fun stuff on the ship. The Florida trips I have down to a science, it is this whole west coast trip that is throwing me off :confused3 , I usually only go to CA on business. All of the places we are going is new to me and I just want to make sure we don't miss anything. Who knows when we will be going back with one daughter heading to HS this year, college is not so far away anymore. Thanks for all your words of wisdom, I will try and stop panicking :cool1:

Ok so an update.....
DOCS ARRIVED!~!!!!!!
I was starting to get a little nervous
The wonderful people at Disney went ahead and changed our dining to 2nd seating all of a sudden, so we had to get our TA to get it reversed.
One of our party is a diabetic and that just wouldn't work.
The shirts are made- Thank God for the creative people here at Dis.
We had to go with blue. The boys flat out refused the lime green again.
Even bribery wasn't doing it. So we will be the 10 person party with the extremely cool ocean blue shirts on.
Catie started to connect on the princess board... once again thank you for starting that.
Our door signs are made. Our fish extender stuff is ready to go. Dorothea and I had so much fun with that.
I am half packed, maybe I am jinxing myself.
I just have to find my desk at work so I can safely leave without chaos errupting.
Anyway I am really looking forward to getting to know some of you.
:cool1:

I'm glad you're feeling a little better about the trip. You do have a lot going on, so I can totally empathize! :goodvibes I think we're all starting to feel the crunch as the time before our cruise seems to be suddenly passing very quickly!!!

We're going to rent from Enterprise at SNA and return it to their location by the port. They have a shuttle that will take you from that location to the ship. The plan is for DH to drop DD and me off with our luggage at the port and then return the rental, catch the shuttle, and meet us inside DCL's terminal. :) Try giving them a call: 310-548-8060. ::yes::

We're arriving a couple of days early and staying at DL's Grand Californian. Where are you planning to visit while in CA? There are a lot of SoCal residents on our cruise, so feel free to post any questions here about the area and I'm sure someone will have suggestions for you! :)

Hooray for another Docs delivery! One by one, they're starting to arrive! :)

My family won't be wearing anything matching. :worried: I think I'll wear a lime green tee upon embarkation, though. :cool2:

I started packing a little bit today. I'm a compulsive organizer, so it takes me FOREVER to pack. :rotfl:

I'm still working on magnets and the FE gifts. Oh, and I still need to find something to use for our FE!

I think I could get a lot more done if I could pull myself away from the DIS Boards for a little while!!! :rotfl2:

See y'all soon!!!

Oh, just to add pressure to my last few days until vacation, my DD's 14th birthday is today, my 21st anniversary is this Friday, and my husband broke his pinky two weeks ago playing basketball and didn't have it checked out until last week. Needless to say they had to rebreak it and put 3 pins into the finger to set it and he has a cast on his left hand. Luckily he will get it off before vacation but he is useless around the house and I have to do everything  . So that kind of adds to all of my stress for the upcoming vacation. But with the help of the Disboards I am getting through my to do list for the cruise. I just have to get through the next 10 days and I will have to be ready because we will be on a plane to CA :faint: .

Oh Susan!!! If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. Maybe I can make you guys some pillowcases when I do ours? Thankfully you got your docs. One less thing to worry about. I'm going to pm you my phone numbers so we can hopefully connect in CA.

I hope Anthony's pinky will be okay. How freaky that must have been to have to have it rebroken. Ouch!!!

Happy Birthday to Stephanie!

See you soon!

Well, I'm kind of getting there. I got my pillow cases today. A friend stencilled some wording in a Disney font for me. So that's one thing down. And Tink's Shadow made me the design for my door magnets. They are awesome! (You are the best Katie!).

We are not going to participate in the Fish Extender gift exchange, because I just can't fit that in (plus I'm already participating in a dog gift exchange at the same time - long story). So I feel at ease about that.

Now I just get to my mom's house and pick up our documents because I am dying without them!

Finally finished up the last of the magnets for my family :cool1:

Kouris_Family mentioned that she was having trouble getting the sizing right when printing out the designs...if anyone else is having problems with that I typed up step-by-step instructions on how I print out my magnets, if anyone wants those I would be happy to post them here ^_^

:flower1: :bday: Happy Birthday Stephanie! :bday: :flower1:

Awwwwww, you're really having a time of it. I'm sorry everything's so stressful for you right now.

You tell your DH the DIS Boards say that even tho he has a broken pinky, he can still come up with a great anniversary date for you on Friday! ::yes::

I have to wonder if he's using that pinky as an excuse. There's no way a mother would be able to "be useless around the house" even if both arms and legs were broken! :rotfl: :rotfl: Tell the big lug to use his right hand to help you out!!!

Stephanie should be able to help you get things done, too! Put her to work on something fun, like the FE Gifts! :)

Hang in there... and keep coming back here to the DIS when you need support!

so your docs are here, well not here we have to pick them up, but it's ok we will do that on friday.

got to go shopping for some cd's and movie's for the trip to cali for the plane and then going to the NBA draft this week should be awesome and got the get the FE gifts, but besides that just have time to wait till the cruise :cool1: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :cool1:
