July 13, 2008 - Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera

Just back from the birthday dinner :cake:, we went to a Japanese steak house. It was really good but boy is it filling. Thanks for all the support on the upcoming days. I love the idea of having Stephanie help out on the FE exchange. She will probably have some good ideas for the kids. I will have to check the Enterprise rates for a car. Using the shuttle sounds like a great idea but I was hoping to get the rental car cheap through Priceline. Right now I am not putting in rates that they like. I guess I will just have to put in a higher price and hope that it is excepted soon.

I hope everyone has a good night and I will check back in tomorrow.

Susan

Hi Everyone....I was wondering what dinner seating every one has. We have second seating.Deb we will be up your way tomorrow...We have a meeting in Raleigh...We are flying out of RDU on the 7th...when are you flying out? Let me know what everyone decides about the date for meeting at DLC..we are going to be at DLC and touring Hollywood for a few days...my oldest daughter is so excited to be going to California!

For everyone that is going to DLC prior to the cruise...Have you already purchased your park passes...If so,did you purchase them on line...I read one thread where someone bought them at Sam's. :confused3

I won't be wearing any lime green like other dis people do, but you all can spot me, because I will have a band t-shirt on and a nets hat :cool1: :thumbsup2

Right on. I'll probably be in a band tee as well, but the dark blue streak in my hair and my new lime-green plastic lei will be pretty hard to miss :upsidedow

Got our documents today!!! Going to buy my magnet and transfer paper tomorrow. Tried on my pirate costume today and wasn't thrilled with it so I went on ebay and ordered something different. Hopefully it will be better. Also saw something on ebay that I think would be a good FE gift. Just have to make sure that they can get the items to me before we leave. If so, I will order them tomorrow. I think that things are all falling into place! Hope everybody else is getting everything done too!

 We haven't gotten ours yet!!! We usually get ours on the Saturday two weeks ahead of our trip. I guess that's because we go through a TA.

DH and I decided to cancel our PV and CSL excursions. We had not heard anything particularly thrilling about them. I think we are going to meet up with some friends who live in CSL. Maybe they can show us some sights. In PV, we read about Sea Life Park and the Dolphin Swim there. One of the DISers wrote about it and had a blast. The only thing is, we have to get our own transportation.

We are going to be on our own in Mazatlan; we are going to spend the day at the El Cid. It's got a great pool and beach.

So...the package fairy is late, we didn't get a pixie dust upgrade...I guess the spirits are waiting for the Young Family on the MAGIC...:wizard:

By the way, TinkerbellsShadow is totally AWESOME...our magnet sign is so great! Thanks again, Tink!

Rose Quartz, We booked the Sea Life Park in PV. We are all very excited about it!!:yay: Transportation shouldn't be bad at all. We have an 11:15 am time. Hope you decide to do it!!

Hi Caroline!

We have first dining. It will be the first time to have early dining for DH, DD, and me, but we're traveling with seven kids between the ages of 5 & 7, so that pretty much dictated when we'd eat! :rotfl2: We've always loved having late seating, so I'm curious how the early dinners will be for us.

I'm sending you a PM about your NC trip... :)

for everyone going to Disneyland before the cruise if you are there Friday and want to meet where and when should we all meet?

Hi All,

Let's get this set up ASAP since some of us are leaving for CA in the next week. :)

I'll throw out an idea:
How about meeting Friday at 12:30pm for lunch in Downtown Disney at the La Brea Bakery Cafe? (It doesn't require a park pass or advance dining reservation.)

Hi again, it is starting to sink in that we actually booked a cruise three weeks before sailing! I was thinking about packing and where was our snorkeling gear when I realized there is no Castaway Cay. After reading some of the comments about excursions in the ports, I'm not even sure we will bring it along. ON the positive side, I guess that means one less big bag to trip over in our room!
We will try to pop upstairs for a quick meet after the drill and before the sail away party. We also have second dinner seating (a first for us) but that is what we get for booking a cruise three weeks before sailing! Actually it might work for the best as it will be a little more relaxing getting ready for dinner. The good news is that we booked a category 12 and were upgraded to a category 8. (First time ever for an upgrade!)
I am trying to get my girls onto the Princess thread. My fourteen year old's best friend and her family are cruising this week so that is not a problem, but my twelve year old might need to hook up with some girls her age. We cruised with the best friends family once before at spring break and the kids just ran around and played hide and seek with the walkie talkies!
We are not going to officially participate and in the FE program, but may pop some things into FE that we see. (This may be a good thing for my girls to do!)
We haven't booked any excursions yet, and are hoping that there will still be some open. We are interested in zip lining and maybe a dolphin experience for the girls.
Does anyone know if they still have a family talent show? My kids (and their friends) were thinking of getting something together if they do.

Picked up my documents from my TA yesterday (TA is my mom). It was exciting, but I noticed that the upgrade fairy did not bless us this time as our room number is the same. We did not book a GTY room because I wanted something mid-ship. But I'm not disappointed, I think our room location is fine (and we are already in a category 9 I think).

My daughter said she is dressing up for Pirate night, so I will do so also (but not as extreme). I need to buy my husband a t-shirt with a pirate motif, or he won't particpate.

We have late dining, which I prefer. My DD is 13 and the other family we are traveling with has a DD12, so the later dinner is fine with them. Plus we can relax getting ready and won't have to rush after our day of fun.

We have the zip line excursion in Puerto Vallarta, Salsa & Salsa in Mazatlan, and we're on our own in Cabo. We'll probably go to one of the hotels on Medano beach and see if we can hang out at the pool if we tip them. We'll also fit in shopping at some of our favorite stores and lunch of course.

I'm super, super, super, super, super excited!

sounds good to us about the meting place, as long as things go good, we get to CA at like 10:00 in the morning so hopefully and we have plans at 1:00 with my friends family who will be in disneyland, so hope everything goes good, only had one bad trip where we had to wait 2 hours to take off

Friday at 12:30 sounds great to us!:cutie:

This was the second time we'd been there, and we all really, really liked it.
Not one thing to complain about. They have plenty of beach space, plenty of shade, lots of different things to do....and the food was really good, with a lot of choices.
I generally like to snorkel everywhere I go, but the snorkeling isn't all that great in the Mexican Riviera, so for my money, Las Caletas is a great place to be to still get in the water, but also have a lot of other things to do.

They even make the trip over and back on the boat a lot of fun. It isn't just a boring ride...it's part of the excursion!

FYI-this was a comment from someone that went on the Las Caletas excursion...the pictures looked like a lot of fun!

This works for us. We'll be around all day Friday. Just purchased our park hopper passes today! :cool1:

This works for us as well. We will be checking out that day but we can hang around DD and meet up with everyone.

When are you going to DCL? We will also be out early and at DCL on Wednesday through Friday. We are then heading up to Hollywood for Friday night and Saturday night. Where are you staying in Hollywood? We are staying at the Best Western Sunset Plaza Hotel on Sunset Blvd. Maybe we will cross paths.
