July 13, 2008 - Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera

Hey guys!
My mom and sister and I just arrived in San Diego yesterday (we drove down from wasington) and passed Disneyland on the way...we could barely see the Matterhorn and the Tower of Terror from the freeway! Its hard to believe that we'll be there in just 10 days! :goodvibes I can't wait to meet everyone, I've been going nuts not having any magnets to make :guilty:

P.S. Wow, that's so amzing Deb! How wonderful that you are able to do that for someone. :flower3:

Hi Tink!!
Welcome to California! We are having beautiful weather, yes? The fires in Big Sur (just north of us) are creating a bit of smoke in the air, other than that, it is perfect California sunshine.:lovestruc
I read last night on the boards that the sea days are cool. I guess I forgot that detail from our last Disney Mexican cruise. I made a mental note to myself to pack some light sweaters for all of us.
Last night I finally printed out the two door sign magnet's that you made for us.:goodvibes The cruise is creeping up!! Thanks again for the signs, they are so great.

Gotta go shopping tonight for shoes for DD's. Then the packing begins!!

I hope I can find the shoe organizer from our last cruise.;) Oh, my.........

Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Is it really only 12 days away?

I know this is going to sound crazy, but we finally got our cruise docs today!! Our TA has been on vacation and just got back last night. So we just picked them up from her office. Now, we are so excited to get on the ship and start our vacation!!! We can't wait to see you all. Safe travels to the ship!!

To the So. Cal. people - How is the smoke down there? We have had such terrible smoke because of all the fires. Luckily yesterday a wind kicked up and we actually saw a little of the blue sky. Do you have any smoke down there?

Sending positive thoughts to No. Cal...where I live, we totally understand how you're feeling.

No smoke down here...the weather is very, very nice. Hope you're enjoying San Diego, Tinkerbell's Shadow! :thumbsup2

Not much longer! Can't wait for our cruise. See you all on the Magic!

P.S. What a wonderful opportunity to help someone, Deb! Thanks for sharing your great news.

Thanks ^_^ it's absolutely beautiful here, I'm so happy to be back (I was born and raised here). The smoke isn't bad at all here, but we drove through a lot of it on the way. Glad to hear the magnets turned out :goodvibes It's amazing how fast the time before the cruise has just flown by!

I go to CA on the 11th, can't wait till then. For the 4th of July I amd going to NYC, haven't been there in like two weeks so I can't wait :cool1: :rotfl:

Hello!

DebT-Wow, what a gift! To give of yourself is truly remarkable. You are an amazing person. My prayers are with you and the bone marrow recipient!! :flower3:

Regarding arrival time-We are staying at the San Pedro Holiday Inn and the shuttle begins at 10 AM, so we will be at port shortly after 10. Wish it could be a bit earlier. ;)

Hi Rene',
We are also staying at the San Pedro Holiday Inn. Maybe we will see you there. Our friends that are also sailing with us will be there too. My kids are looking forward to meeting your girls.

Hi Carole!

We will be leaving our area in the morning on Saturday. We are planning on dinner with some family in Cerritos on Saturday night. Maybe we will run into each at the hotel?

Will you be leaving your car at the hotel and then using the shuttle to get to the port? I called the hotel and asked what time the shuttle started in the morning, they said 10 AM! I was hoping to be at the terminal a little earier, my husband thinks I'm nutty. Oh, I just remembered, you are in Cat. 1 so checking in will be a different story for you. Lucky!!!

I'm getting nervous about packing. Seems like I think about it more than I do something about it. Oh well, I'll pull it off somehow.

Hey everyone, boy it is getting close :woohoo: . We fly out on Friday morning so I have already pulled out my clothes and am finishing up our door magnets. I went shopping for glow sticks (the DDs like to use them in the room as night lights) and snacks for the plane. We are planning a few days in Disneyland so I am hoping the smoke won't ruin the trip :sad2: . I went through some of my old packing lists and have started to gather our stuff. I have been able to find most of the stuff we brought on the last cruise (white board for door, laundry bag, hangers with clothes pins on the end for drying suits). I think the only thing I have left to really do is the FE exchange. I think I will wait till we get to CA so we don't have to lug it on the plane. I can't wait to meet everyone and see our friends again.

Is anyone getting gifts for the kids club counselors? We did this last time but our DDs were younger and spent a lot of time in the clubs. They are now 14 and 10 and I am thinking we might want to get some things for the counselors in the club that our DD 10 will be in but probably not for the stack counselors. What have other people done with older kids in the kids clubs?

Susan

I want to get to the port probably by 11:00 am. It's actually going to be hard for me to not get there earlier because I probably will be itching to get there! I really don't mind waiting at the port. The last time we met up with fellow Disers(including Sujo) and had fun waiting together.

As for gifts for the counselors, I have just gotten some chocolate candy from Costco to give out. We used to do the phone cards but I guess most of the crew now has cell phones. It seems that candy is now the more popular gift since it doesn't take up space. I might also have some extra FE gifts that I got for the adults. May give them out here and there too. I can't tell what the gift is because I want it to be a surprise. I have ordered it from Ebay. They are on there way to me now. I really hope they came out good!

Well, I am still trying to figure out what to do in PV. Sad, I know. DH wants to just wing it and find out own resort to hang out at. Me, the uberplanner, wants nothing left to chance. I have been checking out the trip reports on these boards as well as the cruise critic boards. Lots of good stuff. Thinking maybe of going to the Krystal Resort. I hear that the massages are very good.

Will keep you posted.......

OK, so I am packed and I have packed each of the girls in their suitcases. My DH still needs to pack his stuff and then I get to figure out where to put all the odds and ends. I think I will need a 5th bag but not sure on size. Mainly it will have all the toiletries, suntan lotion, kids stuffed animals, door magnets, stuff for the cruise, shoes, and anything else that doesn't fit in the other suitcases and room for the stuff we buy out there :scared: . Not sure how it is all going to fit :confused3 . I will just have to pray :worship: to the luggage gods that it all goes well.

Susan

Well Guys, I cannot believe it is almost here
The luggage is all packed and waiting downstairs by the door. Last nite when I had the boys taking the luggage down, I was thanking God and Southwest that they still allow 2 pieces of checked luggage per person.
We have 8 pieces. I left room in all the suitcases for the great stuff I am going to bring home. We fly out of here of Fri for Vegas first. On Monday we are supposed to do the Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk. I was so excited the Kelly Ripa had that on her show this week, Really got me in the mood.
I am soooooo ready for my MAGIC>
I made Tshirts for all of us and then got really crazy. Once I figured out how to do this. I think I made like 5 different shirts for hubby, and sons
This amazing creative dis person did Camp Rock picture for me. She put my daughter's name and then did one for each of her friends. I did them all black shirts. So today she is spending the day with them and giving them her presents. Don't forget the white shirts./ pillowcases to have signed
great for gifts.

:cool1: Safe travels to everyone who's leaving soon! :cool1:

Please don't forget to print out the latest FE Gift Exchange list with all the cabin numbers before you go! :flower3:

I'm looking forward to meeting many of you at our DIS Meets! :)
Friday, July 11 at 12:30 p.m. - Downtown Disney's La Brea Bakery for lunch
Sunday immediately after the Lifeboat Drill at Topsider's outdoor tables (at the very back of the ship). You can easily get there without going through the inside of Topsiders by walking around the starboard side of the ship, past Goofy's Galley and the ice cream station. It will be a fairly quick meet so that everyone can get to Goofy's Pool by the 4pm Sail Away Party!

I bet your could fit more stuff in your bags if you didn't pack the girls in their suitcases! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh my, I can tell we're all getting slap-happy from the stress of preparing for our cruise! :lmao: Everytime I re-read Carole's comment, I burst out laughing!!! :rotfl2:
