Hello, my name is Michael, I just found this website and the threads. I will be sailing on this 7 day cruise with my family of seven (DW: Sophia, DS: Christopher just turned 18, DS: Trey 14, DS: Javon 9, DS: Avion: 4 and DD: Kyarri 2. I am in the military, traveling from Okinawa Japan to be on this trip.

Hi Mike. We are new cruisers too. We are also Military. I just retired from the Army (actually still on terminal leave) and Doug is in the Air Force. He is coming back on R&R from Qatar for the cruise. I have two daughters - Evee (6 1/2) and Kat (5). It'll be nice to meet you and your family. Will you be coming to the DISmeet?
Patty

I am in the military, traveling from Okinawa Japan to be on this trip. We've also booked 6 nights at the Shades of Green at Disney World immediately following the cruise. I know it's a little late in the ball game to try to join in on the group but hoping to get my kids hooked up with some of the cruisers. We know very little about the disney cruise, we're rookies at best. I've learned alot reading the threads but hoping to get expert advice from the group that will be on board the ship with us. If you have any info and wouldn't mind sharing and mentoring my family and I. I would be humbled by any info! I look forward to any and all info and look forward to sailing with you all! Mike

:welcome: You are in the right place to find any "expert" advice you might need. The best way I have found is to just keep browsing the threads - the FAQ thread on the main DCL forum page is GREAT!!:thumbsup2

This is only our second cruise - and first with the DISmeet, etc. Glad to have y'all!! I have children close in age to a couple of yours - DD Kamryn is 8 and DS Kason is 5. They will be happy to already "know" a couple more kids before we set sail!

2 more weeks!!!!:banana::jumping3:

Again - welcome to the DIS!!

Lisa

How'd you make those???
My son and DH would be so thrilled to see an Orioles one!!!
I'm looking forward to seeing all the decorated doors!
Chris

Hey, does Ian have an old tie that Calvin could borrow? Or should I bag it? I'm sure this is the one and only time he'll need to wear one. Being only 7, he can get away with a button down shirt.....can't he? You can tell our family never dresses up!

And here y’all go (click to enlarge):

Like I said, some things are easier to make then others, but the Baseball Mickey is fairly simple. ;)

I make ‘em just by playing around with images form the web; shared photos and whatever else can be cobbled together via Photoshop, Paint and Word. Actually, I’m still learning the ins and outs of image building, but it’s a lot like the drawing and model building I did as a kid and it's becoming one of my favorite hobbies (after guitars, Disney and cruising)

Tamara wants me to figure out how to make those very same things. It probably has something to do with the lottery, but I’m still researching the particulars. Once I figure out the trick, I’ll post it here first. :rotfl:

I see several folks have already sent out an official welcome, but we’ll add our “Howdy” to the mix. As the unofficial keepers of "The Lists" we will certainly add your crew to the DIS-Members list and hope to see the whole group at the DIS-Meet at 3:00 on the day we sail (July 11). We’ll all be getting together in the Promenade Lounge which is located on Deck-3 Starboard between the restaurants: Lumiere’s and Parrot Cay. That will be a good place to meet other DISers and families directly. If you kids join up with either the Oceaneer's lab or the activities in the Stack, they will certainly meet a lot of other folks their ages. :thumbsup2

As for being a first time cruiser, the number one thing you can do is relax. Most things will explain themselves as you go along on this ride. For specific questions that you can’t find in the FAQ or on the other threads, just post them here and someone here has likely already either asked or figured it out. My experience with DCL in general is also that you can stop anyone on the ship at any time and get a courteous and helpful answer to any question. :goodvibes

Again, we’re glad to have you aboard and look forward to meeting your whole group.

Welcome Mike and Family!
I am "official" nametag maker for our group. I will hand them out at our DIS meet on the ship. I will have them grouped under your DIS name. I have a 15 y.o. son and an 18 y.o. daughter. Can't wait to meet you all!

Sorry, that was supposed to get linked to a different comment. It's good that the cruise is so close (not close enough), I can stop wreaking havoc on this thread.:confused3

We have Yankees and Phillies fans in our family. Will there be a battle of the magnets?

Just a friendly one of course! Yankees any day over the Mets!! :lmao:
We are going to see the Braves/Phillies July 1st - Wednesday nights are 2 Tix for the price of 1 so it's not costing me an arm and a leg!! Couldn't get tix for the Yankees - I would have liked to see them.....well Jeter and A-Rod anyway!! ;)

Love the Mickey Ears!!

Tamara, thanks so much for the Orioles baseball magnet!!! I'll surprise my DH & DS with that one!! The Yankees fan may find their magnet missing!!! Was more of a rivalry back when the O's were good!! Good thing you can't really make football Mickey ears....hate to think what he'd do to any Steelers magnets out there!!

Starting to feel a little stressed...worried that I'm going to forget something important!! Crossing my fingers that exactly 2 weeks from now we'll be watching the Space Shuttle take off!!

Counting down!!
Chris

Definitely Yankees over Mets. Although, these days, no one can afford to see the Yankees. Don't get how they can charge so much to see a baseball game. Must be b/c they had to redo that part of the stadium where someone hid a Red Sox shirt- lol.

Thank you to everyone! We're really looking forward to meeting all the Disners on the trip. We'll definitely meet the group at 1500 and special thanks to momcloud for the nametags. We're looking forward to meeting with you and your family. Thank you all again! Mike
