July 10 - 17, 2004 - Who is cruising the Eastern on the Magic

Hi Denyse,

I sent you a pm with my dd's e-mail. Thanks!

I haven't made ressies for any shore excursions yet. I don't know which ones to take. On other cruise lines, we booked excursions on board. Will that be a problem on DCL? I have to talk to my dh & dd to see what they are interested in doing.

Judy

hi everyone! we're on the july 10th cruise also. i've been so busy checking out all the other boards i forgot to check in on the cruise meet board, naughty naughty. we are all soooooo excited and counting down the days. this will be my oldest daughter's first cruise (she's 25) and our 7th cruise. i've booked us on the golden eagle cataraman in st martins and we're doing the st john trunk bay beach and snorkle. anyone doing the early dinning?? also this is our first time in a cat. 8, usually we're in cat 11. can't imagine having a porthole and daylight to boot.

Hi Tigger53,

I'm happy to find more July 10 cruisers on these boards! Do you have any other children? My dd is 15 and is looking for teens to hang out with.

This is our 5th cruise, but our first Disney cruise and we are in cat. 8 also. We have late seating for dinner though. I haven't booked any excursions yet. I was looking at the golden eagle catamaran also, but have to see if my dh is interested. He loves sailing, so I expect to book it. I hope it's not too late. Have you been on the Eastern cruise before?

Judy

Hi everyone!!

Judy- I think if you want to do a "popular" excursion, you should book it now! We booked the dolphin swim at 8:30 on the 60th day and when my neighbor tried at 11:00, they said they were booked! You can always try to do a direct booking. We are probably going to do Saphire beach on St.Thomas on our own.

Tigger53- We also have early seating. Our neighbors do too. Anyone else have early?

Where and when should we meet? The life boat drill is at 4pm. and the sail away party starts between 4:30 or 4:45. I know my dd's will probably want to swim a little after lunch. I'm sure we all want to get to our rooms to unpack before the drill. How about either before the drill at 3:30 or after/during the sail away party? I've never been on the cruise, so I don't really know how hectic it is during these times! Just let me know where and when!!

Denyse

We've requested the early seating! And I also booked our excursions on the 60th day - wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted - if the ship is full, it's better to make them ahead of time - who wants to wait in line when we finally get on the ship! There are some things, of course, you can't book ahead of time like reservations in Palo's etc.

The earlier we board the more time we'll have for lunch, swim, etc. before the drill, but there's no definite time when the ship will be ready. It's very very crowded at the pool at the sail away party. Maybe we can meet at lunch!

Talk to everyone soon!

judy, the golden eagle is a great excursion to go on. we did it last summer and enjoyed it very much. this is our third eastern cruise. nysie, are you from cape may??? we could meet sometime after the lifeboat drill in the prominod lounge. its usually empty and its a good location, easy to find, deck 3 aft to mid ship. :wave2:

Tigger53 - Thanks for the info. My dh finally looked at the excursions and is interested in the 12 Metre Regatta in St. Maarten. My dd (15) and I have no interest in that at all. She would like to try the Dolphin Encounter, but I think it's much too late to book that. Denyse mentioned that her neighbor tried to book it and it was full. I wish my dh & dd would have helped me plan this trip months ago, but they never think about vacations in advance. I always make all the plans. Are there any other excursions that you would reccomend? Have you done the beach day at Orient Bay? What about on St. Thomas? What excursions have you done?

I think it would be great to meet after the drill. What does everyone else think?

How much time would we have between the drill and the sail away party? I know that we wouldn't want to miss that(horn)!!:mickeybar :mickeybar

Denyse

If you haven't been to St. John's Trunk Bay it's worth the trip - it's one of the most beautiful beaches in the carribean! we're going on the 5 star snorkel trip. Also we're going on the Orient Beach trip in St. Martin. If you like to shop, St. Thomas is the place to go.

Looking forward to meeting everyone,
Talk to you soon,
Barbara

Hi Tigger53 ! I'm from Cherry Hill. Where in PA are you from? I've heard great things about the Gold Eagle! Maybe next time we will do that. The kids really want to swim with the dolphins. My neighbor booked the St. John snorkel. I've heard that was nice too, but sometimes they go to St. James Island because of rough seas. We are still debating that one. The dolphin swim is pretty expensive, so I don't know. Anyway, no matter what we do, we'll be in paradise!! :sunny:

nysie, we're just outside of phila. i think the 5 star snorkle to st john's is the one that changes over to st james island if they feel so inclined. the one we're going on is the st john beach and snorkle, this way we get to go on the beach in st john as well as snorkle, i believe the 5 star snorkle just stays out on the water. the golden eagle is fantastic, great fun and very lively. the scenery is wonderfull also. i wouldn't want to miss out on the horn either, it gives me chills every time. maybe we could all meet just after the ship sets sail. of course there's two sea days in a row where we could plan for something after we all get settled in, however a brief meet and greet wouldn't take too long and we could all plan accordingly after that initial meeting.

Hi there! right after the lifeboat drill and before the party in the promenade lounge sounds good!!

I finally booked a few excursions. Denyse, you were right, the Dolphin swim is sold out so I booked Orient Bay for dd & myself. DH is doing the 12 Metre Regatta. He loves to sail. In St. Thomas, dd & dh are taking the Kayak Marine Tour and I'm taking the St. John Island Tour. Is anyone else taking that tour? I wanted to find something to do while they went on the kayaks. They are 2 person kayaks so I thought they could have some father - daughter time.

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. See you after the drill.

Judy:sunny:

Judy-Are you still interested in the dolphin swim? They may have cancellations 2 days before sailing! We are probably going to do some kind of beach thing on St. Thomas. Do you want to meet after the lifeboat drill, but before the sail away party? Jenna told me she has been e-mailing Amy!! See you soon!!

Hi Denyse,

Amy would really love to do the dolphin trip. I promised her I'd call again. I did book the beach day in the meantime.

The meeting time is perfect. After we put our lifejackets way, we'll go to the promenade lounge. We can't wait! Even dh is excited now that he's booked on the 12 metre regatta.

Amy was so happy to hear from Jenna - thanks! Maybe they'll get to know each other a bit before we leave. She is not crazy about travelling without my ds (20). He's staying at school in the Chicago area for the summer, so he won't be joining us.

See you next month!

Judy:sunny:

Hi All- Well, with a month to go, my dd fractured her wrist!! The good news is that it is a cast that can get wet, and the Dr. said it would be off before we leave!!:Pinkbounc I was sooo afraid that she wouldn't be able to do anything on the cruise!! We are all going to take it easy from now, until we leave!! See you soon!!

Denyse

Sorry to hear the bad news. I hope she's ok. Luckily it will be off in time, but it's so hot to be in a cast. Amy broke her wrist one summer and it was hard not to swim since she was on the swim team. She broke it doing the backstroke during practice. How did your dd break hers?

Good luck!

Judy:sunny:

Hi Judy, Well Mackenzie was hula hooping and tripped. She put her hand out to break her fall. I always tell them to put their hands out so that they don't get a neck injury. So the fractured wrist is better than a neck injury any day!! Amy broke her's doing the back stroke! Did she hit the end of the pool? Ouch!! Did you get your docs yet? We're still waiting!! Bye!

Denyse:chat:

Hi Denyse - Yes, Amy broke her wrist hitting the end of the pool. They didn't have the flags up yet and there was no spotter. It was very painful. You're right, a wrist injury is much better than a neck injury! Poor Mackenzie, is she in a lot of pain?:(

I haven't gotten any docs yet either. I can't wait! That will make it seem so much closer.

Hello all!

I'm a single mom. Me and my 7-year-old daughter, Alana, will be cruising with y'all. We're lookin WAY forward to it dudes and dudesses! (I just found out I was most like Crush from Finding Nemo)

I noticed that there are other who have 7 year olds and we're going to try and PM or e-mail each other a bit before the trip...I'm sure my daughter would love to do so as well! Let me know if there's other 6-8 year olds out there who'd like to swap notes, pics, etc. with her.

Shore Excursions - St Thomas
Is someone using Godfrey for the day at St. Thomas yet? I've heard RAVE reviews about that guy. He's at www.godfreytourvi.com We're probably going on the Doubloon. There's only going to be an hour for snorkeling tho. *pout* I'd rather snorkel somewhere lovely for half the day tho...so I'm trying to find someone to take us to the best snorkeling area(s), rent equipment to us, and feed us. Anyone have suggestions? Maybe we could even get a group together and save some $$. We were also thinking about taking the Atlantis trip before getting on the Doubloon, but I guess I've got to make my own reservations on the Atlantis to do that.

Shore Excursions - St Maarten
We wanted to go to Pinel Island but were too late so we're gonna hang at the "most beautiful beach in the world" for the day (Orient Bay).

Shore Excursions - Castaway
We were able to pre-rent snorkel gear for Castaway Cay this trip. Nice. Just call yer travel agent.

Obsessing over it,
Pam
