I really enjoyed this movie!:thumbsup2 Julie's language wasn't as raunchy in the movie as it was in the book. I went to the matinee viewing and it was full. Everyone was laughing so hard at Julia Child it was hard to hear.

It was a good movie, I enjoyed it a lot. So did my dh and a good friend that was with us. We were all standing around the theatre talking about how much we enjoyed it afterwards.

But if the language in the blog/book was ranchy then I can see why Julia didn't approve of it, lol. I have a feeling she would have found that offensive.

In the previews, it seems Julia is always portrayed as "silly." Was that true throughout the entire movie?

I would also like to know if it is kid friendly.

Thanks!

Thanks for the review, OP! I can't wait to see this movie!

Going with my girlfriends Sunday morning. Can't wait!

ahhh, movie mom seems to approve! (BTW, thanks for that link, I will save her site for future reference.)

I can't wait to see it either :banana:I remember watching both Julia and Graham Kerr "The Galloping Gourmet" when they both had shows on PBS. Even as a child she had that magnetism and charisma that just made everything she did seem so enjoyable.

I recently read "My Life in France" and am looking forward to the movie. I'm pleased to see to getting such good reviews.

Saw it this morning with my 11 year daughter and her friend. Made sure her friend's mom was ok with us seeing it first.

We all enjoyed it very much. Language was mild, no sex, but allusions to it and pillow talk.

My daughter came away inspired to cook and wanted me to purchase Julia Child's cookbook. I came away hungry.

I was actually quite fascinated by the way Julia Child was portrayed because we've only seen the cooking show side of her. She's over the top, but struck me as a person who was just fearless...a trait any woman should aspire to be and I hope my daughter caught that message.

Just got back from seeing it with my dd9, we loved it. I was worried about the language(sp), it was mild, I really don't think she picked up on them because everyone was laughing out loud. We are going to try 1 receipe from her cookbook once a month, I think it will be fun. Like to do more, but Im sure it will be expensive.

I really want to go see this! I'm so glad it was good.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie! :thumbsup2 I think its going to rain tomorrow, perfect day for a movie!

I saw Julie & Julia this afternoon and loved it. Meryl Streep is magnificent as Julia Child.

We went to the movies this afternoon, me, DD16, and DH. Julie & Julia is a hoot! There are a few bad words and a few implied intimate scenes, but for hte most part it was harmless. If you've ever seen any of the old Julia Child cooking shows, you'll love this. Meryl Streep is so good at accents--she channels Julia through the whole movie. This has got to be the feel good movie of the year.

I want to see it. I recently heard an old interview with Julia Child (on NPR) and she was witty.
