Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

What is TWoP??

I posted on a JK8 thread on the dis months back, the conversation was on why on earth would these people put their kids on TV when there are so many crazies in the world who would know exactly where they live. At what cost did they want ot expose their kids? The thread was immediately closed. It was weird. It was like big - brother Disney style.

I still can't believe this thread still lives on, because I've read where many of the JK8 threads on other boards have been closed.

I fully believe the mystery posters (aka the "ducks") that find this thread, join the DIS and post only on this thread just to stir things up are the same people that had the other threads online shut down and are also responsible for the nasty posts on GWoP and TWoP.

I think the regular posters here are just quicker to call the trolls/ducks out and not buy into their flagrant accusations about the Gosselins that can't be proven. Most of us will never have any personal interaction with JK8 and just simply watch the show because we enjoy it.

Is Kate a witch? She obviously can be. So can I - just ask DH.

Are these children being exploited? Well that seems to be the hot button topic and honestly I see both sides of the situation. Ultimately it is up to a PARENT to make the best decision for their children - not friends, family or a bunch of strangers on the internet. YES the intentions may be well meaning - and I honestly believe most of those that cry foul (no duck pun intended) about the exploitation of the children probably do really believe that these children are being harmed by their parent's decisions to have them on television and want these kids to just have a normal childhood with privacy BUT unless these children are being abused in some way then it is really nobody's business what decisions the parents make regarding their children.

The Gosselin children are healthy, happy and well loved - you can tell that by watching any episode of their show. Whether you agree or not with the parenting style of J&K, well, most seem to find some issue with something that Kate does but honestly is there any other parent out there that you agree with their parenting style 100%?

I don't know, some of the quotes and such put it over the top, but I understand that they feel like they are backed into a wall with out a voice and this gives them a voice. J&K have a voice through the show...they can pretend to be perfect parents (even though they are not good actors) and Jodi didn't have a way to say her side. She on the show ,then off, how else is she ot expalin it to the public that had been watching her? I would want to vent somewhere.

Honestly, I don't know what I would do in her situation talulabelle. I understand wanting to vent. Absolutely. But not to everyone out there. I feel like this is just all sad. All sides. Especially for the children. They must miss her.

I don't feel there is a need to explain it to the public. At all. I don't have issues with Jon and Kate. Like the show. And even from me, from that "side", I could see that Jodi was a loving aunt. No doubts at all. So without the blog I would have thought that there was some kind of disagreement - and because of J and K's past of possible alienation I would have thought it was them - I mean who might have stopped seeing her or talking. Some people are cutters in life. And like I said earlier - well if you cut you miss out on a lot.

I liked Jodi. I didn't like seeing the video. Just didn't.

I think if they are willing to let their lives be public, then the public has a right to voice their opinions, just as we have a Dis board to voice our opinions about Disney related subjects. Why are they the only group that think they shouldn't let people discuss their show? Every show on tlc website has a discussion forum EXCEPT theirs.

I agree with pp...Jodi and Julie have gained nothing through their blog. They have only made themselves the subjects of more conversation and more blogging. There was something about the video post that bothered me and I can't put my finger on it...maybe where she talked about all the public support--letters, words of encouragement, etc. I'm not sure but I think if I were involved in that kind of drama--life consuming--I would just want it to go away as quickly as possible. It seems like Jodi or Julie or maybe both like the drama.

I can say that I think the book is going to be anti-climatic (sp--sorry)...forget tips and advice for parenting multiples. I want to know the "real" story!

I started to post something very similar earlier today ... dear friends, casual acquaintances, strangers ... many people out there that parent in ways that just aren't for me.

Differences in parenting have been the stuff message board smackdowns are made of, though :rotfl:

most of the threads get closed on other boards because they end up turning into hateful nastiness.

i really enjoyed most of last night's episode. The Outer Banks is one of my favorite places to visit. DD and I love to watch the traveling episodes because we have been to most of the places they visit. Then, DD and I rehash our trips.

As far as the hair braiding, I didn't realize it hurts that much. DD, 8, and I were talking about getting her hair braided like that next summer at Disney. I hate when her hair hangs in her face. When she saw the girls crying, she said I don't care if it hurts I still want to get it done.

As far as the bibs go, I do know that many places in the Outer Banks hand out bibs when you purchase the to go buckets of seafood. We used the bibs when the kids were cracking crabs. Having said that, we were teaching our 8 & 4 year olds to crack their own crab. This is a very messy process.

Now onto the sippy cups, I have a 4 year old and he shakes his head when he sees other 4 year old using a sippy cup. Then he tells me, "That's not even right. They are too old."

This is a great way to think of it! :thumbsup2 I don't agree with the way most of the people I know raise their children or at least certain decisions they make. Just as I have been told that others don't agree with the way I raise my own or certain decisions I make. That is what makes this country so great! We all get to raise our own children anyway we want too!

Jon is a middle son with an older and younger brother. One of his bros coaches soccer at the college level I have read. Pretty cool.

Whenever I see a repeat (trip to Utah was on today) I see how loving Beth and Jodi were with those kids, and it makes me so, so sad for all involved that they are no longer speaking (allegedly- I have no insider info whatsoever!).

I wonder about two things:

1) Do the kids ask for Jodi or Beth, especially when they watch the old episodes? They were such a huge part of their lives. Do they ask why they don't see their cousins? My kids adore their cousins and ask about them daily. Especially when they were so close and spent so much time together. I wonder what Jon & Kate say when/if their kids ask?

2) Doesn't Kate miss her nieces and nephews? I would move mountains to see mine. I love them. Does Kate feel like she has enough children in her life and she doesn't have a need to see her brothers' kids? (again- allegedly!!).

I probably wouldn't have noticed she was missing, to be honest. If I did, I would just assume they're not focusing on her (or Beth or this person or that person) because they want each show to be different. I doubt a lot of people are tuning in to see anyone besides the core family. It seems like it would be a lot of the same things if they showed the same people. They'd go to Jodi's and make crafts or bake and eat candy. They'd go to Beth's to swim, run around the house, etc. I'd just assume they were mixing it up a bit.

I agree about the book. I bet it will be a big seller, though, due to all the drama!!

It's very sad. That's for sure. :sad1:

Sorry to be dumb here, but I've missed some of the shows & have no idea what all the flap is about for Aunt Jodi. Would someone clue me in? Thanks.

Actually me too TSW. Me too. Now to think about it my response was clouded because before I actually even noticed Jodi was missing I read about the blog here.

I absolutely agree. I wrote that with all the prior blog info. See what it does!!!! I really meant that most who had an inkling that there were rumblings of bad blood would never think she wasn't a loving aunt.

Without the blog it would have been a mere curiousity - but I wouldn't have immediately thought about any bad blood between them. Not at all.

They seemed so close.

it was covered a couple of pages ago.... earlier today, I think? I'm sure a google search of Aunt Jodi will give you all the info you need. LOL
