mears adding fuel surcharge

I'm flying out from LGA, New York on Friday. My Uber is 20% $$ more than usual. I'm leaving 4 hours before my flight - mostly because I plan to get lunch at the DeltaSkyClub. Today I decided to book Mears from MCO to my resort and there's a notation saying:
Please Be Advised: A 3% Fuel Surcharge Will Be Added to All Reservations Until Further Notice - Thank You
I'm not surprised. There are no limits to how much extra things are.
I do wonder if I'd booked in advance (which I normally do) if this surcharge would be be added

I booked a round trip with Mears Connect yesterday. They added the fuel charge to our booking. The cost increased from $67.20 to $69.12, an additional $1.92, for two adults.

I've never seen a discount for advanced booking.

We booked way in advance for our Mears reservation in May.When I went in to modify our reservations Sunday, the message appears about the surcharge being added. I have never seen a discount for booking early. Occasionally a sale pops up, but it has been a while since I've seen one.
For us, it's still a good deal.

Not at all surprising. I'm local and live very close to WDW. Gas in my area just went up to $4.299 yesterday. That's for the gas stations on and off WDW property. Before the hostilities it was $2.799

OP, are you referring to Mears Connect? Or a Mears taxi booking?

OP didn't say they expected a discount for booking earlier, just wondered if they would have booked before the surcharge went in if they would have been charged it.

Sort of like buying a park ticket before a price increase.

I'm not referring to any discounts at all. What my question (to myself) is - had I booked this prior would this surcharge be added? Normally I make all reservations months in advance as part of my overall trip. To be clear, I'm not saying this is an exorbitant fee.

Ah. As I thought. And I wondered the same thing, although I often don't book my Mears Connect ride to the resort until I'm actually at the airport.

Mears actually sold their taxi division to Yellow Cab of Tampa last month. It’s now known as Yellow Cab of Orlando. They’re just focusing on the luxury division and Mears Connect now.

Surcharge is probably an easier way to adjust for increased fuel prices.
